At the risk of being a poser, I learned in the early 2000s that "skate shoes" were the most comfortable shoes for people who had to spend long hours on their feet. And the big puffy ones usually have a pretty wide base, which is great for somebody with thick feet/ankles. I can totally see why they might not be optimal for skating performance, but man...they're still my everyday shoe as a 40 year old dad of 2, haha. I started with Etnies, but I've been wearing DC Court Graffiks for over a decade now, lol.
@skepticalbystander2 жыл бұрын
Been wearing Court Graffiks for a handful of years too, I'm on my 4th and 5th pairs :) the thin shoes were never comfortable, and when I got my first and last pair of Adidas Superstars, and they started splitting at the seams a little, I realized I had a wide foot, then I needed a nice pair of boots, and was for sure confirmed by when I had to get the wide version, so now I know puffy skate shoes for me for the rest of my life. Some people hate it... my girl doesn't really care about what shoes I wear, but she thinks they're a little ridiculous, she knows I'm only really comfortable in bigger skate shoes, but what can you expect, I grew up skating in the era with puffy shoes at the height of their popularity. I've developed a nostalgia for them at this point. I also got the Black Sabbath Court Graffiks, those are currently my favorite shoe :)

I learned to skate in converse around 2002 (not really a choice its what I had and couldn't afford anything new), I eventually moved onto a pair of MASSIVE DCs (which I had for so long ended up held together with gaffer tape), the comfort level was unreal. No more shredded feet, but it was like learning to skate again, lost all board feel. Moved on to Vans eras as a happy medium then settled on vans half cabs and never looked back. Tried a few others over the years but the half cabs are the best. Always wanted the D3s though. When I saw them in my local store last year I was tempted. Getting that feeling again.

If you're testing the durability of how many kickflips a shoe can go through, you count the amount of scrapes of the shoe on the griptape,, it doesn't matter how many you land, bailed attempts count because they still wear out the shoe, and double flips maybe count as 1.5 because of a bit of extra force goes into them, but it doesn't matter if you land, it's still wearing the material if you're judging based on damage.
