I actually don't think her hair is THAT damaged compared to other idols who change hair colour constantly. She technically probably bleached her hair twice, when you retouch your roots you don't bleach the light part again. In 2020, she had to bleach her hair again, and you could see the difference, she lost a lot of volume, but again she did not have that many break out, sure she lost some length, but it was not that bad. Keep in mind that they have access to the best hair stylist (especially YG) in the industry, so that helps. I am more concerned about some idol who change their hair colour every comeback, it is not because you go back dark that it is not damaging for your hair, because it can be as damaging as bleaching. Especially when you go back lighter one or two comebacks later, you need to bleach it again. Each time you change colour, you most likely need to bleach it again to have a good base. It was more damaging than keeping the same colour for an extended period of time. Rosé's hair is damaged, but when I compared to some other idols like Onda from Everglow, you can literally see some breakage, with their hair being pretty uneven, it was more dead.

just a little correction, keeping you hair blonde for a long time isn’t THAT damaging (tho it does make it more fragile), because you only have to bleach the roots which when done by a professional it isn’t really damaging, and add toner which is just a color deposit. it is WAY more damaging when people constantly switch colors from light to dark because for that you need to bleach all your hair.

Lmao, I. KNOW. People keep talking about Rosé's scalp, Rosé's hair, but she basically bleached her hair once to get her strawberry blonde, and then another time to get her silver, more pastel colour. Then, she only bleaches her roots, it is not that bad. On the other hand, some idols have Black hair one comeback, platinum blonde the next one, then dark red, then black again, then they bleach against, it is far more damaging. People seem to think that because you go back to natural and darker for a couple of months your hair gets a break, it does not, it is still dyed constantly and still damaged.

Frrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Rose's hair is actually quite healthy. It's kinda silly to see hair fraying in pictures get called "damaged". Sunlight just accentuates loose hair strands. It's natural. Also, some people just have a different natural hair texture that isn't always smooth and silky all the time. My natural hair is frizzy and wavy. I do a lot to combat that, but just because it's frizzy because I decided to brush my hair one day, doesn't mean it's unhealthy. Rose's hair is the same. Y'all caught her hair in the sunlight with some loose strands and decided it's damaged. It's probably just dry for the day! People somehow think she's bleaching ALL of it all the time, when she's most likely just getting a root touchup and toner.

@@lilliele5447 it is in absolutely no way healthy. Her hair is harrowingly damaged it literally doesn’t look like hair anymore, even when styled for photoshoots or events the damage is still obvious. Mind you, her damage is majorly contributed to by heat styling tools. Her lengths starting from her neck till the ends are limp and have no movement to them, to the point she literally has split ends on the top of her head (i think many airport or concert taken photos show the broken hairs sticking right out of her head). Healthy hair, of all patterns and textures shares a certain, lively, shiny and bouncy look- that’s painfully lacking in not just rosé’s hair, but other idols like taeyong and hyunjin when he was blonde. Edit: her hair is naturally straight and straight hair can’t get frizzy except if intentionally teased to look that way, wavy and curly hair get frizzy because you keep breaking their hydrogen bonds (that form the wave/curl pattern) whenever you brush it out or touch it a lot. My cousin who have been to bp’s last tour prior to the whole pandemic thing were disturbed by the state of her hair, in comparison to jisoo’s for example.

Taeyong has said he doesn’t want to keep on dyeing his hair but the company makes him do it, and last month the person who does Taeyong's hair got interviewed, and said that Taeyong has the most sensitive scalp he has treated and that he would even cry while bleaching it but would still do it to go with the concept of the comeback. Thank god at least for now he has dark hair but TY is not even a rookie and they still force him, just remember all the promotions he did with different groups and sub units, and he had a different hair in each one.

My hair is the average asian black hair and I bleached it several times throughout the last 8 years. I’ve had pink, rainbow, platinum blonde, brown, red, purple, so I know a thing or two about the whole process. The reason why those idols have such damaged hair, despite (probably) using expensive hair products (for bleaching and treatment) is the fact that: 1 - they retouch the roots way too often so the scalp skin has no time to recover (Twice’s Dahyun once said she bleached her roots once a weak). That happens because asian don’t like to see the black roots growing, as they think is looks “messy” and unnatural. Really don’t get it as asian DON’t have natural light hair. 2 - they chose shades too different, like going from blonde to red to blonde again. Red and blue pigments stain the hair, so they have to bleach it again in order to remove the pigment and change/go back to blonde, hence damaging it even more. 3 - for some reason, their “professional” hair stylist chose to bleach several times a day/ try to achieve that very light blonde in one go. I don’t get it cause asian hair is very difficult to bleach and should be done in steps to minimize the damage and professionals MUST know about it. Also, every hair is different. Some have stronger hair so it survives the whole bleaching process. Others don’t, and should be advertised against it.

They destroyed Sakura's hair in Iz*One. Which is sad because her hair was already short. You can see when she was on stages with the pink hair her hair wasn't holding dye any more and the pink was washing out fast. After the pink, the whole group went dark but she could only dye a light brown because her hair couldn't hold a darker color.

The first time i saw her in PD48 I noticed how thin her hair was, Even on the Japanese variety shows she never had the thick hair that young Japanese people are known to have. Soyeon of (g) i-dle is one of the idols that immediately comes to mind, because she debuted as blonde, dyed her hair black, dyed her hair blonde, dyed her hair black, dyed her hair brown and now her hair is so roasted. She looked beautiful with the choppy wolf-cuttish hairstyle in her Windy promotions, but she really went to extremes from darkest colours to platinum blondes that I wonder how she manages to function with the amount of damage. Her hair seemed okayish up until Dumdi dumdi, that's when I noticed the drastic change in hair quality especially with the extensions. Onda and E:U from everglow, E:U was platonum predebut, her hair was barely hanging on by dun dun, and I can see the still wanted to hang on to blondish in la di da, but she has no hair left. I was relieved to see her as a brunette in First. But Onda has been blonde since Adios, her hair is hanging on by a thread. She looks stunning with blonde hair but it is so damaged. Also in Aespa, if you watch Black Mamba there are scenes where all the girls are blonde except for Karina. My theory is they shot BM much earlier than the release then postponed it because Winter and Ningning already debuted with heavily damaged hair. Ningning especially is in danger since she dyed her hair vibrant red, which requires bleach and constant maintenance, she must be uncomfortable, even though ofc she looks beautiful. But please normalize wigs and natural hair, Shuhua, Sihyeon, Naeun, all these idols are visual queens who stick to natural hair colours or no colours at all.

I agree, idols who constantly go back from dark to light and change colour constantly has far more damaged hair. I hear people talking about Rosé all the time, saying her hair is dead, but she basically changed her colour 2-3 times in 2-3 years, it is not THAT excessive, she does not bleach and her again and again, just her roots. On the other hand, Soeyon and Onda, you can see in their performances that the hair is dead, and that extension are the only way to make it look good. In First, Onda's hair is FRIED TO THE BONE. You can literally see it, she has so many short pieces, it is very uneven. Same thing for Sorn from CLC, her hair is like super, super damaged. I wish some companies will know how to give their idols a break when it comes to hair, but the thing is, fan are constantly asking for new hairstyles and hair colour. People were mad when Jennie kept her bleach hair for only a couple of weeks not to damaged her scalp like what? Also, the big misconception is that going back dark after bleaching is healthy, it is not, you need to constantly redo the colour because it fades, and the process of going dark, especially from heavily bleached hair, can be as damaging.

I felt like this video could have been a bit better researched, especially when it comes to lightening or "bleaching" hair. For example, Rosé seems to keep her hair at the same brightness so she only has to lighten her roots. Roots lighten quickly because the heat from your head accelerates the lightening process, so she probably doesn't have to keep it on her roots for too long. Also she can avoid overly damaging her scalp by going in with oily hair. The oil will help to protect your scalp and hair. You should avoid washing your hair before getting it lightened. Infact, simply washing your hair everyday can be damaging. It's also usually suggested that you wait a week after lightening your hair before washing it. Unfortunately I suspect that many idols are kept too busy with their schedules to give their hair proper breaks between washing or getting their hair lightened. Another issue is how idols will go from a light shade, to a dark color, and then black to a light shade, usually in a very short period of time. This would take a long time explain, but in essence there is a bunch of different and damaging processes that go into making that happen. And finally there's the styling and environmental factors. Styling your hair everyday, using heated tools and alcohol heavy hair sprays is super bad for hair.

Also a reminder that semi permanent hair colours dont damage the hair! For example an idol could use them and only bleach the roots once a month. And when they want to change the colour they could just do a bleach bath which isnt THAT damaging to your hair compared to just bleach.

I've had blonde or colored hair for 10 years now and I can tell you it's possible to maintain it and never have to go back to dark or even cut your hair. The secret is to slowly transition into light hair. My hair stylist first started by adding highlights and would add more lightness every 3 months when I would go in for my appointments. My stylist told me that if I didn't want my hair or scalp to severely be damaged I had to be patient and go in steps to eventually get to what I wanted my hair to look like. I'm so happy I listened to her, it took a year for me to get to the hair color I wanted but my hair and scalp weren't damaged and the wait was worth it. After that she would only rebleach my roots every 4 months and if for some reason by if in between those 4 months I couldn't stand my black roots she would dye them a medium brown without using bleach and this helped the roots not look so dark so the contrast wasn't as harsh. Till this day my hair stylist still does the same thing and I couldn't be more grateful and many ppl always assume my hair is thin or damaged but when they touch or see it they realized it's healthy and are shocked I've been able to maintain having super light hair for so long considering my natural hair is really dark. Also bc it's light ppl assume I wear extension since my hair is really long and they also get shocked when I tell them the length is natural.😂 Anyways it's possible to maintain really light hair if you do it the right way, the problem these a lot of idols have is they sometimes bleach there hair more than once in one day to achieve the color they want and that's what ends up frying and damaging their hair and scalp. So yeah if anyone is considering lightening their hair and it's really dark please do it in sessions and not just in one session, You'll thank yourself later for it.

I heavily damaged my hair not too long ago by bleaching it platinum. It actually turned GREEN from the chemicals. So I had to dye it red to cancel the green completely. I let the red fade as by hair grew out, so it turned a pretty gold tone...but with my natural roots it looked bad. Cutting my hair super short made it look like an intentional ombre. It was so nice to see that even tho idols have access to top of the line products & stylists, that they, too, have to cut off all their hair sometimes. I wish society valued health of hair and scalp rather that the looks and aesthetics

As a curly haired girl, I can confirm that Lisa's hair is definitely damaged. It may not be just the bleaching, but for any curly hair type, constantly straightening your hair will permanently damage your curls, making them looser or destroying them completely. Then couple that with all the bleaching, it is a recipe for disaster

a lot of them also probably have damaged hair from frequent styling/heat and having to wash it at least once a day to get products (such as hairspray) out. Some of the more popular idols can afford nice treatments to heal their hair or prevent damage, but a lot of the smaller groups probably suffer most because they dont have that luxury
