Man is a millionaire now but had he not left when he did, he couldve EASILY been a multimillionaire by now. He still easily rakes i. 3-6 million views per vid. The role of a sapper (combat engineer) has evolved since the days of tunnelling under a castle and fighting bloody hand to hand combat in the dark if discovered by the enemy. My father was a sapper with the 1st Australian Task Force in the Vietnam War. His role was construction and maintaining of all manner of structures, roads, landing strips, as well as demolitions, and performing general infantry duties. To me it sounds like an interesting job.

i feel like EVERYONE in battles in the pre-modern, early modern, and modern era (so… up until WWII but also much of WWII and vietnam and other wars we weren’t involved in ) was a heartbeat from violent death or dismemberment at all times. I’d rather be digging UNDER the castle than trying to climb its walls, or attacking the gate, or anything like that. Being inside the castle was much better until the walls fell from sappers or cannon or trebuchet or until the food and water ran out. Or they storm the walls and torture everyone to death as punishment for not opening the gate.

At the end of the year, the clothing would be uncolored and very fragile. thank god it never fucked up my vision

fun fact, WW1 sea mines ofter used detonators that relied on sugar. Idea was that vial with sugar inside would break on contact of one of the "stalks" and dissolved sugar would create either a combustible mix with potassium and sulfuric acid, igniting the rest of the detonator. Or at least one of the types i saw was based on idea of highly compressed sugar cubes that when dissolved started a mechanical reaction. Yes, a naval mines used to be, effectively, working on sugar and sugar cubes. Now, imagine that you are working on a mine-layer or your job is do de-mine the area. Or swim around the mines. Keeping in mind, that if you blow up or not, relies on a vial that can be snapped in fingers, filled with one of the easiest things to dissolve in water.

I was thinking why not just make the chef be the food taster, thus completely de incentivizing poisoning the food in the first place, but then i realized anyone who works in the kitchen, could sneak into the kitchen, or had access to the ingredients at any point could be paid by whoever wanted the king dead to do the job without the chef’s knowledge. So this would just be a good way for the king to have a worse chef after every assassination attempt

I didn’t get a memory jog until 5:29. Age of Empires is a game my dad plays like an addiction. He will play hard mode randomized and win against the computer every time. And there were commands and cheats and in the early days before emotes there were key toggles that would make the computer do funny sounds and words some characters would say when selected. A cheat we could use were spawning petards. It took me a while to remember my siblings and I laughing at the name and calling each other petards.😂 Essentially, the petards would be commanded to assault a building and they would just explode. Very expendable. Never realized that was ACTUALLY what happened! Also puts into perspective that one orc from LOTR that blows up helms deep. He really had a purpose name! He’s the Petard Uruk-Kai!
