I used to work on oil tanks and water tanks, I can’t tell you what’s inside that one but the reason there’s a way to get up top is so they can check the amount of oil/water in it. They also have other pipes called overflows that are towards the top of the tank, so they can connect the tanks together and fill up multiple tanks using one line.

Jeremy Wray's water tower ollie is one of the craziest things IMO. Just the effort it would take to do each attempt is insane.. it's a aspect most don't consider. (You could probably make an entire video on the ground breaking things Bob Burquist has done)
@wadej769 Жыл бұрын
I went there in person and saw the towers. It's so much gnarlier then the filming even can show. Craziest one every I think
@saturnvi5421 Жыл бұрын
That shows a mentally unstable person, by far the riskiest move I’ve ever seen in skateboarding. That gap was far, and he had no ramp. He put his life in the hands of his ollie skills over a gap many people would not even be able to clear on flat ground in a parking lot. One Tiny thing goes wrong and he’s a goner, going that fast imagine he slid or there were some slight imperfection in the ground.

Definitely the most dangerous, gnarly trick ever done. There is not even a discussion to me.

3:45, Jeremy explains in an interview that as he was rolling up to that roof top gap he felt a pebble rumble around under his board. For real, that little pebble could have ended his life. One of the greatest gaps of all time in my opinion.

When I saw the video title, Nyjahs overpass front feeble, that instagram tower clip and the water tower board slide were the ones that came to mind for me. I'm glad you got them all in this video and after watching all these, they remain the top 3 to me. As the filthy casual with hardly anything personal to compare it to that I am though: I gotta give it to Nyjah with the front feeble pop out. At least with the boardslide, Clive could still clear the distance if he messed up the slide or land on the rail or on the stairs. With Nyjahs front feeble... Well, it still gave me butterflies in my stomach to see him walk that rail on the bail even though I've seen that clip countless times. And of all tricks to do on it too, a Front Feeble is so f'ing sketch. If you've ever hung up on a Front Feeble, you know that your weight can pull you over the rail and he's sitting on top of that one, his weight is not on the inside of the rail. AAAND he's not doing it during a break in traffic either: There's a freaking truck coming while he's grinding it too which means not only would death would be the only option if he fell over, but also the distraction of traffic below him while he's grinding it. I guess the easiest way to put is that we all know Nyjah is the king of rails, so if he's doing just a 5ft long front feeble on a flat bar: it's unmatched.

I read an interview with Tony Hawk about 20 odd years ago and they brought up that rooftop clip, but it's the first time I've ever seen it. I also remember they asked him if he was worried about doing it and he said he wasn't because he knew he could jump that size gap, and had before. The only difference was the height, but that was only psychological, and it didn't phase him because all he thought of was the gap which he knew he could do. Then he mentioned how one of the worst injuries he got (at the time) was jumping three stairs and, because it was so basic, he didn't really think about it, didn't concentrate, and landed really awkwardly. I can't remember what the injury was, but it was much worse than you would expect for jump a three stair.

Yes it's a water tower. It supplies the water to the surrounding community. In some areas rather than each person having a well at their house there is a well over a good water table with a pump to keep these towers full enough to always have plenty of water for the people who are connected to it.

Nice video Ricky. I have a suggestion…if you could find the footage. Here in the Seattle area, there used to be a local show (could still be around) named “Evening Magazine” and if I remember correctly, there was a dude who skated the roof of the Kingdome (no longer around since it was demolished in ‘99) and it was highlighted on that show - maybe, I’m 45. If you look at a picture of the Kingdome, the roof had ribs which made it look like a radial distribution of half pipe little thingees which must have been irresistible and so some guy skated one of those ribs like a half pipe. Am I remembering this correctly, does anyone remember this? Anyhow, thank you again for a good show and have a great day!

@rickyglaser Жыл бұрын
yeah maybe i could look into some numbers about stuff like that, the most common way to die skating is bombing a hill/getting hit by a car from head trauma
@Just_SK8 Жыл бұрын
Yeah. But but riding your bike home from school and getting hit by a car is a bit different to attempting stunts at a park. Skatepark deaths would be interesting to know. What I like about Bob Reece is he teaches how to level up in a safe way. Some kids just hype themselves up to do a 8 stair when they've never done 4 or 5
@rickyglaser Жыл бұрын
@@Just_SK8 yeah bob is the man he also jumped the water tower but had to delete the videos due to trespassing issues i believe. but i think the number of people that have died from trying a big trick at a skatepark too early is extremely low

If they are water towers they are built in areas that are not connected to a pressurised water system . When full the amount of water creates pressure for the taps connected locally . Most big water towers are built high on hills or built higher than the connected houses or towns .
