It's been the age of remakes/remasteres/rehashes for going on 10 years. The only market I see even "attempting" to bring in new IPs/content is the Chinese market. The future is bleak for North America as most of the big development studios are being forced to make sacrifices to aesthetic and gameplay to incorporate agenda messaging or things nobody is asking for. I have dabbled in emulation and every port I've seen in the last 3 years works objectively better with 4k upscaling and unlocked FPS. I don't think 24 was as bad as 22/23 but the ever increasing demand for hardware (cpu/gpu) that costs more than a used car is crushing peoples interest in newer titles. Enjoyed your video thanks for sharing your thoughts.

This economy has been DREADFUL! My 9-5 is in the Financial Services for a college and the amount of people over borrowing on student loans is horrifying. I'm really hoping the economy picks back up, and we can see more risks in gaming and creativity. I have a few emulation handhelds and a couple of Raspberry Pis but upscaling PS1, PS2 and Gamecube to 4k with my PC looks WAY better than some of the ports/remasters we've gotten lately.

@@outtacontrolgames I agree about the emulation. It's not even close when you consider they are charging 60 bucks a pop for a port that looks terrible and runs worse. I wouldn't bet on the economy getting much better they are gonna flood the country with h1-b visas which will collapse standard of living and oversaturate niche markets.

if anything needed to be in HD 2D its Chrono Trigger. "imho" i think that our nostalgia is used against us to get us to buy buy buy, but i do see the necessity in continuously remastering or bringing old games from the past with us into the future. so an old game that i think never went anywhere was an old 360 game called "The Last Remnant" at the time it was a new idea that took even older ideas from older war games like ogre battle, tear ring saga or soul nomad to make something new(ISH). The Last Remnant was delisted from steam but thankfully got a new life remastered on the Switch and i think ps5. to me games like roblox, fortnite, genshin impact, counter strike global offensive, or wow prey on children and they are whats stifling creativity. even my beloved tekken series has a battle pass now and thats not cool. i enjoyed this rant and my position is that i find myself happy to see new generations playing games from my childhood

I'm honestly glad to hear others feel the same way. Honestly I'm glad my kids can experience a lot of the games from my childhood, but there's just a bunch of games I'd rather see come to something like the Switch Online Library or even just let me buy them in a collection. I'm not discounting the quality of life updates, but it's starting to get out of hand.
