The one thing I haven't been able to wrap my head around is this. You will take a good eating fish or popular fish for people to eat out and cut it up for bait, yet you get upset about bowfin and gars being on the bank. Also, you never did kick that dogfish to see if it was alive because they too are like gar and pop the top of water for air. Just some thoughts that don't make any sense .
@drewmadenew30003 жыл бұрын
You see the thing about video editing that you obviously haven’t wrapped your mind around is this, you don’t have to include everything you film in the final cut. The dude definitely didn’t just check the gar. He just didn’t include the bowfin because it was dead. Secondly, they are called bait fish for a reason. They are used to catch the game fish. You see there is this thing called the food chain.

That little "drum" we call croaker here in Chesapeake Bay waters...... my favorite of the barely a handful of species remaining. Rockfish (striped bass) are fantastic but bland compared to croaker, IMO. MY freshwater experience is limited to brook trout in central Pennsylvania...... that 2 lb line and teeny hook are one thing, but it's the exacting technique it seems to take to catch those brook trout, scarcely 5" or so. Excellent show, man..... really appreciate your kindness to fish. My ex and I ate Bay and river-caught white perch about 4 days a week, fishing 20-hour days from creeks to the shipping channel at 2 AM :) I kinda waned in interest when I put together a 30-gallon aquarium with diamond tetra and black mollies :)

But catching a fish and killing it to catch another fish is fine?

I love your attitude, I am a Fly Fisher, but you pay the fish respect just as if it was on a Blue Ribbon River in CO... I am subscribed..... Be Blessed

Thinking positively... Maybe those heads are left over from cleaning the fish, and they were table fare instead of just discarded.
@jacko44833 жыл бұрын
That's what I was thinking. Probably would have seen the rest of the bones attached on some of them. And maybe the remains we're tossed into the water when it wasn't so low.

That gar was the “see ya later buddy” of the year, I’ll fight over this. I hate when people do this, I just discovered how much I really love fishing as well as respecting these beautiful animals, glad that gar made it back💪🏻

They take the place of more desirable fish. F---k a gar!

@@chrismcleod9748 and to others they may say you take the place of someone more desirable, as others can think different, all about perspective my man. Have a blessed day🙏🏻

There's a reason why gar have survived in their present form for thousands of years. You just saw one example. They are tough as nails. They can gulp air when oxygen levels are low, their scale structure functions like armor, and they can and will eat anything. I actually admire them for their design and ability to survive whatever nature or man can throw at them. Good video as always, thanks and take care.

Seeing a piece of trout used as bait is one of the most disturbing things I’ve seen !

Would u prefer a bluegill drum or some other native species WT !!!!

I was wondering why? You're using trout as bait and talking about the killing of bowfin?
@saginawdan3 жыл бұрын
I can hardly stand it. In my neck of the woods it's unheard of. People would think you were crazy.
@neosunrider3 жыл бұрын
To me, not really disturbing, just sad I'm not the one getting to eat some rainbow trout.

It's illegal in many states to use any part of a game fish for bait

Nice Bowfin. Cool deal for the Gar. Bowfin can go a long while out of water too I think. Not sure I'll have to re read up. I love catching Bowfin. Once of my favorite fish.

Thank you, for so generously allowing that garfish to live, what's more is you helped the little guy with getting some of that land crud off him/her. Not that it's any big deal but, I'm going to subscribe, leave a 'thumbs up' and a tap on the bell, I'd like to see more of your fishing stories. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for saving that Gar. Dad and I fish a lot and always return them to the water. For me it is more about spending time with him, we are only here for so long, and I want to be able to remember when he is gone.

Respect you for the love you have for fish. Anybody that leaves fish for horrible absolute death is not a sportsman. 1st vid, will have to watch more to sub. Love it tho, love bowfin, never caught 1.✌
