I know that spot very well, mid summer is the best time to go there for Chanel cat. If you go on top of the spillway bluegill are easy picking for bait.

Super job of making a great video on a less than stellar day. All of your stuff is good. By the way. My go to Catfish bait is chicken liver. Most people can't keep it on the hook but I tie it in a piece of old nylon stocking or cheese cloth. Have landed some good fish this way.

You should try squid. We use that in salt water all the time. Stays on the hook very well. Maybe a Dierberg's box of calamari rings.

Idk if your open minded to your comments but try the octopus hook, or an eagle claw. Ive noticed the curved end inward end of the hook since i was a kid walking 2 miles to the nearby creek that was what i had the best luck with keeping the fishing on the hook, especially catfish. My biggest one was out of a spill way july 6th of 2017 was a 29lb flathead.

Lobster is just to tempting but I am cheap so large crayfish are adequate. They work everywhere and everytime. 💪👁️ As far as a frozen lobster goes, the shelf life is much longer than you'd expect as long as you keep it frozen until you are ready to cook it.

Pretty sure that spillway is a fish ladder. That's why it's shaped like that. Allows fish to swim up to main lake during high water in the spring
