I don't even think that it is too unrealistic. Looks like a very short but fun ride which could be nice for beginners who are too afraid to ride an actual coaster. What I do think is unrealistic is that you can just build the same ride over and over again and nobody cares.

This coaster design has come through for me on so many scenarios, so much so that I have it pre saved in my track list under the name "Marcel". Only problem with that is that when I spam it in my park, I often don't bother changing the name and end up with a bunch of coasters named "Marcel" which then leads to the game eventually telling me "Marcel has broken down" and I don't know how you feel about that.

Marcel Vos, in his ceaseless pursuit of efficiency, creates a bleak dystopian theme park where thousands of guests are enthralled to pay five bucks for four seconds of hollow thrill, and then do it again on the exact same ride a short walk away, rejecting actual roller coasters to satisfy their craving for the single inversion.

This is because some scenarios don't leave you with much room for building. A great example of this would be the Micro Park scenario from the Loopy Landscapes expansion pack. I feel like saying this design is "cheating" is harsh. While it may not be something I plan on using, it's a neat exploitation if a likely-unintended interaction, and that's perfectly fine. It's great for challenges, high scores, and speedruns, but maybe not something for casual play. It requires knowledge of the game's workings to conceive, and I think it's just kind of cool. Would I want to ride it irl? No, but my designs usually end up snapping your neck when entering the station because I'm bad at managing speeds, so what do I know
@zuthalsoraniz6764
@zuthalsoraniz6764 2 жыл бұрын
It's not cheating, but it's definitely cheesing. You are not modifying the game itself, all the mechanics involved are working as intended, but yes, the result probably is unintended and breaks the balance of the game.

@@zuthalsoraniz6764 Yeah. It's not like Chris overlooked this particular ride. You can technically spam any small ride that meets the minimum stat requirements and thrive as a result. It likely would've been too hard back in those times to code spam prevention into the game, but I bet nowadays it would be a lot easier with current programming languages. He did what he could by making there be a percentage cut for having more than one of a single particular ride type, but programming the ability for the game to identify copycat track pieces in an exact particular order no matter the size of the ride... I'm sure he thought about it, but decided it was too much of a hassle to write.

When saving the track design make sure inspections are set to 10 mins as a brake failure will always crash this, but its such a rare breakdown that you probably won't run into it within normal scenario play unless you have 10s of these or a very old park. thought i'd never use these in scenario play, till i ran into absurdly small/annoying scenarios like japanese coastal reclaim/micro park/urban park. also a good way to finish a scenario if i'm out of space but already near the goal.

Several coaster types end up with decent stats with this design and will easily earn themselves back. They also bring in a lot of new guests when you're playing pay for entry scenarios like New Blood. I actually beat that one by building a long street with just these. I love having them all identical, but giving them fun names like "Haunted Cork" or "Vierbaan" (halve achtbaan). This design really improved my speed on scenarios! Thanks!

I actually placed several of these in a Halloween themed area of a park I did. I arranged them and colored them in such a way that they blended in with the Graveyard themed scenery area I had them placed in. It sort of made it so it was like the dead were reaching arms out of their graves, ready to rise again. They were all given the same name and given a subtitle to numerically sort them (i.e. "Dead Hands [Track 1]", etc.). At the center of the graveyard was the big centerpiece coaster, which was called "Necromancy". Lore friendly way to implement them in the park without it being extremely obvious cheese. XP

The smallest coaster build with decent stat is the Inverted Roller Coaster with 1 station and 1 half corkscrew with 27mph power launch without passing the station.

Love this coaster for one reason It's easier Copying and Pasting Scenery than with the Twist since It's smaller and can be tiled better

Marcel, how about making the two stations synchronized to boost excitement when you build the mirrored set of rides :)

I would love to see a "hard mode" added to OpenRCT2 specifically for these players that know how to optimise gameplay. Not really with harder scenario goals, but more with some rides with changed stat requirements that make rides like these impractical. For example, all coasters should get a minimum length requirement that always applies. Park Value is only given if at least X peeps rode that ride in the last month, etc. Just some random ideas though.

I'd want the game to calculate the stats for each car in a max-length train, and use the worst stats to get the coaster's values. In this case the second car does not reach the inversion point, meaning the coaster count as inverting, meaning the requirements missed at 4:12 will penalize for ride value. Similarly, the photo section would be based on distance from the start of the ride (ignoring repeats), and based on the speed of the coaster's train at that point (whichever car is going the slowest). So the closer to the end and the faster the coaster is going, the more each photo will be worth.

I love this design every time you feature it in your videos. I try not to use easily spammable coasters, personally, (I don't even like repeating flat/thrill rides too closely together) but then again I'm not very good at the game lol

random question- do you get an excitement bonus for having the queue pass under the corkscrew or does it not count for any of the path bonuses
