Basically, no different than a clean tournament where the only difference between the players would be skills and knowledge since everything that is available in the game is also available to every players.The focus would be the build instead of instead small tricks like jumping to avoid shots. The only difference in a cheat tournament is that the organizers don't have to spend money and time to prevent cheating. In you analogy of self-driving car, the skill would be map reading, knowing where you can overtake other drivers and setting your car that even if you didn't drive it, it will be faster and better at navigating curves just because your car is better. That is why in F1 racing, there drivers ranking and constructors ranking. In a self-driving race, it would lean heavily on constructors category with the drivers being more like navigators in rally race.

Taking away the main skill aspect is taking away the point of the game in the first place. Same goes with racing, the point of it is to, among other things, determine who the best racer is. Taking away the racing aspect makes it a mind game instead of racing. Take another analogy, for example. A cooking competition where world famous chefs make the dish for the contestant and all the contestants have to do is dress the dish up. Then it's not a cooking competition, it's a goddamn dressing up food competition.

I'm not surprised by this, as this sort of behaviour is reflective of Indian society as a whole. Corruption is built into nearly every single system in India, from the Prime Minister all the way down to the common man. Committing acts of bribery is commonplace to get anything done- even something as simple as bribing a banker to reduce your time at the bank from a 3 hour trip to a 30 minute trip. Acts like this reflect this culture of cheating and taking shortcuts, and frankly it's disgusting. Unfortunately, I don't see a remedy for this unless there's a massive cultural shift in how Indians approach their lifestyles, but I don't see that happening as it's so ingrained into every single person that lives in the region. Source: Am an Indian that lives in Canada, and sees and hears enough of these stories to understand.

I don't this is reflective of the Indian gaming community as whole,there are many skilled players who are worthy to play in international tournaments,the problem is that when people don't get the attention they seek,they try to show off.The problem is about representation, india isn't well known for its skilled players,but for its playerbase,so when someone wants to show,what india can do,they take drastic steps and india has grown ever since this incident,many Indians don't even know about this, Indians have started playing competitively and there a future for indian players,your example is like, picking a rotten apple from a apple basket and asking to throw all the other apples.
@Solofhreaper3 жыл бұрын
@@Asur18S I'm not saying that there aren't talented Indian gamers- I'm certain there are and they deserve to be recognized for it. My point is that in India, it is a publicly acknowledged secret that to do anything you need to grease palms. This is reflective of a society which accepts illegal shortcuts as a norm, and you can see how that sort of mentality can leak into other facets of life such as gaming culture.

@@Solofhreaper and its also reflective of the US, of Russia, of the UK... surprise, its all corrupted, dunno why you're singling out India like its some unique case.
@subtlewhatssubtle3 жыл бұрын
@@Lynch2507 It's as OP said though; corruption is not exclusive to India, but much it is more commonplace in the day-to-day experience of living there. There's just more of it there than in other places. Bribing your way through bank processing queues is definitely not common in US/UK circles, but is a common sight in India. "Convincing" a police officer to 'look aside' in the US/UK is more likely to get you in trouble than it would in India. Even from my own experience in Hong Kong (before the CCP's occupation), you were more likely to 'ease' things there with a precisely applied $1000 there than you could in most low-level businesses in the USA (or, try bribing a solicitor to see how well that works in the UK). You're right that bribery and corruption *are* everywhere. It's part of the human existence when a power disparity exists. However, it's also accepted as a fact of life more widely in India than most other countries I've been.

TF2, quake and super smash brothers melee are the closest you'll get to comp scenes that are filled whit players abusing glitches and unintended game mechanics. Most of the integral game mechanics in TF2 and quake games were inspired by unintended glitches (bhopping and rocket jumping to name a few). And melee, well melee has so many glitches and unintended game mechanics that it's hard to name them all or even explain them in a short comment. Either way you might enjoy one of these games if this is the type of game play you like.

@@nav2269 I recommend you look up trimping or soldier roll outs in TF2 then. Make sure to watch the "very fast demoknight" by solar light for an example of the speed you can achieve. Those two game mechanics are all about maximizing speed while trying to reach middle and are pretty close to what I think your trying to describe. It takes a lot skill to pull them off and are imo satisfying to watch. Altho I'm not really sure what type of game you're trying to describe tbh.

I came up in counter-strike and nearly went full-time pro until i discovered that many teams at the time had at least 1 cheater on roster that was known by the coaches. The way online matches were appealed back then made no sense and many people got away with it for far too long. I quit after it happened at a lan and we were told "it was just lag". When we asked how that could be, the operators of the LAN (whom sponsored the team in question) told us that the other team was just on newer/better PCs and tried to deflect any blame/responsibility.
