Hi everyone! We hope you enjoy the start to our new Algonquin trip series! Day two’s campsite stay was inspired by Park Ranger Jason Lorbetskie’s great blog post about it over on Ontario Parks’ website, and we’re also looking forward to sharing our favourite lake in the entire park coming up really soon in day three of the trip, which we’ve been enjoying for years but never captured on film until more recently in this series. Btw, for those who are looking for the 4K version of the video, it should be finished encoding on KZbin’s end any moment now, though the 1080p version’s good to go now if you’d like to enjoy that. As always, thanks so much for watching, as well as all your comments, likes, shares, and if you haven’t already, subscribing to help support our channel - we really appreciate it, and we look forward to sharing day 3 of the trip soon! -Chris, Julia & Cedar :)

Love your videos and Algonquin Park! My first trip there was in 1965. Our family camped at Kearney Lake. I have the same 15 ft. canvass/cedar canoe made by Langford in about 1961 that I paddled as a kid!. It weighs quite a lot and I want to lift it as smoothly as you do! Prospector hull with keel. Woodwork is exquisite with cedar, cherry and others.

Loved it! When I worked as an out-tripper in the park, jessus 43 years ago!?, I did the Smoke Lake route several times. And I know the camp site. In those days, I would read from Lord of the Rings at night to my charges and that campsite seemed to fit the mood as enchanted forest. Can I guess you will finish by going down Head Creek to Lake of Two Rivers? That last day along the creek was always the best part of the run.
@ChrisProuse5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Stefan! Sounds like a wonderful route - we took a different one, though we’ll have to check out yours someday. That would be a fantastic place to read Lord of the Rings. I enjoyed Adam Shoalts’ book Alone Against the North along the same route years ago, about bear encounters / thunderstorms with lightning cracking not far outside our tent - I could barely put the book down that night :)
