Em nowadays only goes back to being *himself* (iconic supreme artist) when it is very important to him. The best example recently was "Darkness", because the topic of gun control is dear to his heart. Another example was "Bad Guy" from MMLP2. That final verse is arguably the greatest Hip Hop verse ever. He did it because he promised to fans a conclusion to "Stan", so he went back to god-tier classic Eminem mode. Another most recent example was "Discombobulated", because he had promised fans Relapse 2 which got cancelled, so he made Discombobulated to fulfill a promise. Eminem *could* put out an entire 10-20 songs LP where each track would be of the quality of "Darkness", "Bad Guy" and "discombobulated" with a cohesive theme, an album that would easily be a 9/10 or 10/10. B ut such an album would require enormous work for 2 whole years to make, and at this stage of his career he just doesn't have the energy for it. At this point, he just wants to rap and have fun, and make fun, artistically "cheap" albums where he just goofs around and raps.. Eminem's career ended in 2003-2004 with the 8 Mile film and Encore, which closed the arc on his story. After that, he stayed just to rap for fans.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Eminem. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Marshall's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Minions truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Eminem's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
