Kevin, so here’s a tip. I like to upcycle and I build miniatures so I use a lot of things like cereal boxes & the plastic clear containers that rolls come in etc. So with that thought I had some rubber bands damage some of my posters so I started using the cardboard rolls that paper towels are on. You can also use the rolls from wrapping paper. I’ve used those as well. ❤

Those cardboard tubes are ok for short term but can cause acid burns long term. just buy some poster sleeves for rolled posters. The sleeves also prevent dust gathering on the poster when stored.

Hey Glitter, I ship watches, spendy costume jewelry, etc in aluminum foil and saran wrap tubes. They are strong as all get out. Also, the tube used in bubble wrap. Blessings

Loved Paul Harvey as a kid. I'd listen to him while running around with my dad in his old beat up pickup truck. That pause Paul did always made me feel like there was more to come so I wanted to listen to him more. As soon as you said radio and pause I thought of Paul. That pause was iconic for me. We use promoted listings for items that don’t have great STR but have a lot of competition. It often gets us a more profitable sale than selling low. We don’t do promoted listings for items with decent STR or that have very little competition.

Shipping tip: I used to ship jewelry and other small items in plastic Easter Eggs, stuffed with tissue so the item couldn't move. Run packing tape around the seam so the egg can't open. Padded bubble mailer, sealed and taped. The eggs are tougher than you'd think, and since they have zero flat surfaces other packages can't land flat on them and bust stuff. Bought at yard sales (or found in the free box!) or after Easter they're dirt cheap, and in many countries eggs are considered lucky. In 15 years or so of eBay selling I never had anything arrive broken, so it works as long as the egg is packed properly and taped shut. (leave a pull tab with the tape folded over so people can get the egg open.)

I bought a Trifari Brooch once for $1.50, and it sold for over $600, can't remember the exact price. It's fun. Been reselling on Ebay since 1997....for coffee money, lol.

"tangents" aka "teachable moments" make a teacher go from a great teacher to a PHENOMENAL TEACHER. They take the time to teach something attached and are able to pull it back in. I've had a few of them in my time, most were actually history teachers and men, they were amazing teachers, I learned a lot, they made it very interesting and fun to participate and ask questions. :)

Just started on my eBay journey. Sold 2 things really quickly. NJPW t-shirt. Picked it up at Savers for $5. Sold for $25. Then had an old school program from 1969. Wrestling at Fenway Park signed by Killer Kowalski and Bruno Sammartino. They absolutely kill people with fees and shipping. Holy crap! Going to have to figure out more ins and outs.

New reseller here, for the last 90 days or so and I just started using the promote stuff on ebay and I've noticed a bunch of different things. #1 Usually stay around the 9% ad rate and fixed. #2 I've seen if drive my view count up ten fold. #3 I've seen the view count not even change at all. #4 only had less then a handful of things actually sell with promotions.

I've done a few Promoted Listings just to try it out (or with items with upcoming expiration dates), but it is very rare, and it mostly does no additional good. It's mostly just eBay squeezing more money out of sellers. If you're selling good items, buyers will find them regardless. If eBay spent as much time advertising for new buyers as they did for Promoted Listings, we wouldn't even need to promote those listings, if that makes sense...

I've been selling on ebay for 24 years. I have never, ever promoted a listing. I also opted out of the recent pass the shipping discounts through to buyers. We all know that shipping costs more than just postage. There are all the packing supplies, and then ebay charges about 12% in final value fees on shipping. So far sales are good. I really thought ebay would penalize me for keeping the discount. I list and post new items every single day. When I do several listings, I will save some as drafts so I have something to post every day.

I too, do not promote my listings since most of my items are unique with low competition. I also rarely use "best offer". I still do get offers through the messages, but I feel like I get less lowball offers than if I was using the feature. I also price like you at .95 rather than .99 for the same reason. You talked about figuring 20% cost on your goods covering your overhead, it’s almost 20% when you figure, eBay 13%ish fee on ; % on item sale, % on the sales tax, % on the shipping cost and then your per item selling fee.

But I just had Bad feedback and return that I clearly stated untested non working parts only and said price reflects condition iny description and eBay like always automatically agrees with Buyer and the bad feedback o don't know how to make it any clearer that thing is non working There is no way to make eBay agree with us sellers it's crazy I gave customer full regind but told them to read Description next time. Even if you say you do not accept returns, eBay will allow the buyer to return the item every time. So you might as well choose to accept returns, besides eBay has enforced that it is mandatory to accept returns.
