The Most Famous Hopia in the Philippines (Tipas Hopia)

D’Original Tipas Hopia is a legendary name when it comes to hopia (flaky pastry) in Taguig City in the Philippines. This is a story of how three generations of the Flores family have worked together to continue their family’s legacy in making one of the most iconic Pinoy snacks.
Hopia can be found in almost every bakery in the Philippines, but there’s just something about this Taguig specialty that’s amassed a cult following because of their heirloom hopia recipe.

Oh man this episode I was just expecting a simple story but hearing Inang talk about her life, her hardship and the luck she had brought all the feels. She is such an interesting person and the legacy she made. Tipas hopia is a core memory of my childhood. That meryenda treat that filled my belly. Up to now I love the hopia monggo of Tipas Bakery. My Tipas hopia story: i am classmate to 3rd gen Flores. Maybe few times in a month, they will bring boxes of hopia fresh off the oven, still warm and soft. The Flores family is very kind and very welcoming whenever we visit our classmate.

naalaala ko to nung around 12-13 years old ako (90's), sinasama ako ni papa tuwing bakasyong sa construction, ito madalas namin inuutang sa tindahan tuwing break time lol, tapos sabado bayad pag sahod na, iirc P1.50 palang ata isa nito nuon, until now hindi masyado ang tumaas ang presyo. tumatagal sa tyan til lunch time or after maguwian hindi ka pa din gutom :)

Sana mafeature yng Ribbonettes hopia na pag aari rin ng Kapatid ng may Ari ng original hopia. As we know Ribbonettes was also using robotics in the fabrication of hopia from Japan because of problem in labor force. They were also the first to make hopia through the maestro of Mang Ben who train 2 pers. Mang Ben was introduced by inang(aling Belen) to the owner of Ribbonettes to start a new business of their own. We know this because we also delivered hopia for 30yrs. You can ask the owner of Ribbonettes and you can also feature them in the future.

I can tell how well the children of the owner were raised. Even if the business is growing and successful, the family stays grounded. When i was a kid, (born & raised, Hagonoy Taguig) i used to hear an URBAN LEGEND about Tipas Hopia are made by "Ketongins". I am sure na mga ka Generation ko sa town namin alam ang Urban Legend na yun. Kahit yung mga matatanda samin ganun nila ikwento.Diko alam bakit ganun at san nag originate yun. Growing up, paborito kong Snack ang Tipas Hopia introduce by my Papa. Now I am an OFW here in Dubai UAE since 2005, kada uwi ko sa Pinas at pabalik d2 ng Dubai, lagi akong may dalang baon na Tipas Hopia, 3 boxes at least, care of my Papa na lagi nyang pinababaon nya sakin. Miss Paula at 15:07 , I am one of the true testament na "Inang" Belen's Legacy had reach globally. "inang's" Tipas Hopia always brings back my childhood days. Bless her Heart

Tipas is def the best pang masa hopia now. Back in the 60s and 70s there was this hopia mongo that we buy in sari-sari store. I think it was singko per piece. Hopia, tira tira and ampaw was our favorite snack. Our lolo sa tuhod will give us money when we were good and that was what we bought. Good memories.
