As soon as you said SOL, I said "Sullivan Tipton!" :D Another parameter of only using a more neutral/slightly overstable disc is that is needs more space to make the turn... which can be problematic if you need to throw through a tight gap before it turns. So you are adding a layer of complexity just to get that disc to fly in a way that the SOL naturally wants to travel. Good stuff buddy!

I got Sol out of a used bin. I love this disc. Another one I got out of used bin for cheap and I like using is Discraft Archer 🤣🤣

Great to see you spend some time with us under-stable guys. Although I'm not a Discraft guy, I recommend the SOL to all beginner players because I think it has the perfect flight numbers for them. 4 speed for beginner arms, 5 glide so they are happy with their distance, and -3 stability so they realize they can actually throw a long, straight drive. I personally have a full set of US discs that I use for pushing hyzers, turnovers, flex shots, etc., including the Swan 1 Reborn, the Paradox, the Rollo (which I do not roll), the F9, and the Roadrunner. Brands don't matter to me, only reliable flights.

I'll have to give this a try! I have a slower arm speed and use a fierce for this type of shot but it's getting a little over seasoned so maybe a Sol will be right up my alley!

Around 10-15 years ago all we had here in my hometown Lafayette La. We only had Academy and a guy that sold discs at the course. Academy only sold Innova only. The guy that sold. He had a Discraft Glide. The best disc in my bag. I got hurt my shoulder at work. So didn’t start playing again till the year Macbeth went to Discraft. And got hooked again. Man I want another Glide

My league is at a super wooded mostly sub 400 ft course. I got the sol and that thing carvs up the course and turns even throwing soft. Love it.

Yassss, the range of plastics vary the stability, Z is a verrrry nice flight for me personally. The small diameter is an excellent feature.

Definitely agree that this slot is so much fun to throw! I have the Paradox for this slot and it's crazy what kind of lines you can throw. Some brands don't have such an understable options sadly.

Love the Sol. It definitely has a spot on the most underrated list. I think the Zombee and Ringer are a bit higher on the list. Zombee is out of production so it makes sense why more people don’t throw it. The Ringer though … it deserves more hype. The discraft throwers I know that bag an envy for that slot hurt my heart. Across the available plastics, you can get whatever flight you want … especially if the zone is too stable for more than chips and approaches.

I use the Swan 1 Reborn in this slot. It’s a 3-speed -2.5/0 that was part of a disc exchange with me and Chain Raider. There are some shots that are just easier with my swan. Shots that are way more difficult with a more neutral or faster, less understable disc.

That flip up/lazy turnover mid is a seriously underrated slot. Played the Purple People saver tourney last weekend and on that exact hole 8 when everyone else was trying to yam an overstable fairway and give it enough height to try and fade over to that basket, I just put that uplink out there flat and absolutely parked it for a tap in on the second round. also, you know the most slept on mold from MVP is the servo.

I play how you are describing. I throw pretty much flat maybe slightly anhyzer or hyzer for tighter shots. I know what I’ll get every throw if I shoot my shot right. I play backhand only. My forehand is for short touch shots. My bag is set up pretty nice for the average player who throws 250-350. Proton Paradox,Mana,detour,crave,buzz,wasp,tacopyro,rhythm,leapard3,trance,passion,xenon,fission wave,insanity,trail,fission Timelapse, proton Timelapse, zenith Putt with a set of royal bullets Throwing putter is premium bullet, parachute Approach Tempo, zone OS Would love to hear your thoughts or maybe even throw the same bag.

I think an exercise that helps with throwing understable disks or any disc for that matter that you want to dial in is to play multiple one disc/ mold rounds to become as comfortable as possible with that particular disc or mold... hope that word salsd makes sense 😂

Two disc's that aren't technically part of Discraft's line up because they're ace race disc's that Ledgestone makes limited runs of that id recommend trying are the Nebula and Zeppelin

I personally didn’t love the lack of glide on it. But as a 99% backhand guy, I keep a few discs in my bag that are reliably flippy for me, where I just know they go right as reliably as other discs go left.
