I'm about 3 months into starting playing pool for real. Really been enjoying seeing these videos and drills and excited to try some of these out on the practice table. Also, this may seem silly, but I really like how Niels refers to the audience as "pool players". I mean who else would be watching these drills other than pool players but there's just something about the way he says it lol

I too enjoy watching your drills and listening to your always positive yet always modest attitude. The best teachers on the internet are persons like yourself who clearly put a tremendous amount of work into creating the meaningful graphics which for me always include the cue ball image with the location of where you are hitting your side spin, top spin, bottom spin "English". Bravo Niels The Terminator! I look forward to someday watching you compete. I will never be a pro but I do like to beat opponents I encounter. So is worth the time and effort to practice practice practice. As just playing games against opponents is not enough. It's about repeating shots and in the process "building muscle memory". There is no better practice then practicing by yourself. Particularly practicing the shots you recently missed and working on those again and again. Just as Niels tells us to do! For my very worst shots, hitting them 3 times in a row might take all the time I have allocated to practicing. So sometimes... "better move on" LOL. :)

Recently quite focused on the acid test drill. Improved my overall game quite significantly. Fun fact from today game with my club buddy - he kept playing good safety shot and made me reach for my jump cue I don't know how mamy times. Before the first jump ai thought to myself "I wanna do it like Niels" and boom! All jumps either scored balls or good safeties. Worked like a charm!!

I will make a full review, ball-by-ball, and give you inputs on your technique, patterns, choices, stroke etc. and tips with things to work on! Interested? Send me a PM and we can talk further 👍😀

I may have to reconsider my rating myself as an A player after watching this video. The single greatest weakness in my game is the long straight shot off the rail or out of the pocket such as you demonstrated. I guess I'm just the best player with a terrible stroke that can only find 4 hours to play per week.

Good day from Volos Greece. Congratulations for your amazing job you've done!!! You are very helpful for all amateur players. I have a question if you please: Is there any practical way to define the class of a player? We often hear C, C+, B, B+... How can I find in which class am I?
@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Illias!! Start with the easiest version and see how you do. If too easy go to the next. I will dive a bit deeper into the Fargo rating
@chrisross332 жыл бұрын
These ratings are a bit arbitrary. Easiest to start at the top. An "A" player is going to be a very seasoned player that can consistently run 6 to 8 balls out on an 8 ball rack. So other than when safeties are played, then this is going to be a quick game between two "A" ranked players. B players then are a cut below. They know a lot, but they don't know as much as an A player does. Anticipated these players being able to run say 4 to 5 balls at a time on a fairly consistent level. The "C" players then are just beginning to get serious about the game. They don't understand English very well. They don't have great pool ball speed control. And they definitely have only a basic understanding when it comes to "strategy". B players know a bit about strategy. A players understand strategy. From the time the break takes place they are working their way back from the key ball on the 8, etc. Hope that helps!

Nice drill. This is one I definitely will use. I like mixing up the type of stroke (follow, draw, rail, etc.) What I find the most challenging is changing my stroke from follow to draw. My mates tell me I should never shoot a draw shot, because my follow shot has a really smooth stroke and my draw shot does not. I watch Han Yu and think she has the most consistent smooth stroke I’ve ever seen. You can’t tell the difference between a stop shot and a table length draw based on her stroke. I know I put too much body in most of my draw shots, but how do I get that smooth, super fast spinning draw stroke?
@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen2 жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony! Thanks for your message. Glad you like the exercise 👊 Sounds great that your follow shot is working so nicely but I would still work on all type of strokes in your game! I guarantee you sooner or later you will need that draw shot ;) Did you have a look at my series "Back to The Basics"? There's 2 videos about the draw shot. Please feel free to have a look and let me know if you found what you're looking for 💪😃 kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqirf2WZbJd6qLc kzbin.info/www/bejne/q36cXnuhhZ6Dfa8
