Tillamook ice cream has no artificial ingredients. They also treat their dairy cows with the utmost care. The cows bed down on soft foam not hay, they can go into the barn and be milked whenever they want not at a set time and they have pastures with places to rub up against to be scratched. If you go to Oregon you should visit their farm.

I love ice cream and eat it several times a week but my favorite dessert (or meal) is one cup of organic whole milk plain yogurt from grassfed cows, mixed with berries and a ripe banana which adds the perfect amount of sweetness. My husband died when he was 34 years old in the prime of his life and he loved ice cream, which had nothing to do with his death because he had PTSD. I really do appreciate all your advice, but in my opinion, if you’re really afraid of eating ice cream, then make homemade ice cream. That is what we used to do when I was a child. I personally only like homemade churn vanilla ice cream that is my favorite. I don’t eat ice cream very often but when I do, I don’t worry about putting some whip cream on it every now and then. Today’s store bought isn’t very good anyway it tastes artificial to me so I don’t purchase it. Life is short, eat some ice cream

It helps when the rest of the family decides rhey want to eat ice cream (and they like to buy the large tubs that have artificial flavors/colors). Ive also made plain greek yogurt with cocao, nut butter, some chopped nuts and melted 70% dark chocolate and put it in the freezer for a few min to harden. You're wonderful, Dr. Li. I find the only way to break a craving for sugar is to go cold turkey for two to three weeks. The first 4 days are the hardest, then the cravings subside, and after three weeks, you'll be revolted by a Snickers. At that point it's easy to allow yourself a weekly less-sweet reat. Sunday is my day to eat a cookie or have some ice cream.

When Häagen-Dazs came out in the early 1980s, it was only available in health food stores. Then, it became popular and ended up in supermarkets everywhere. Then they sold it to Edy's and they changed a lot of the product. I used to be able to defrost it for 30 seconds in the microwave to soften it a bit. Now, when I do that, it bubbles. It's mostly air. Now, I get Talenti Gelato.

Always loved Häagen-Dazs, but it suddenly made me ill. Googled and found out some batches contained ethylene oxide, a substance banned in the EU. 2 chloroethanol, a reaction product of the potentially dangerous ethylene oxide. It's used as a fumigant pesticide. Causes nausea, headaches. Ireland food safety watchdog ordered a recall. I quit eating Häagen-Dazs. All the reports are from Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Europe, but I'm in California and got ill.

I have gone on sugar fasts which have really helped me overcome eating too much sugar. I still eat fruit and a little bit of pure honey or pure maple syrup. Just no refined sugar. It takes about 3 days to get over the craving but once I am through that period, it is much easier to avoid sweets. And when I do eat something sweet it tastes cloyingly sweet and I can’t eat much anyway! My first tip is don’t keep it in your home! If I want to eat something I either have to go out or make it at home. Fruit and nuts make a good after dinner dessert just like you said, Dr Li. I also make peanut butter cookies with just organic unsweetened peanut butter, an egg and just enough coconut sugar to sweeten it a bit (most recipes use way too much sugar!). Also fruit cobbler made with a slightly sweetened oat crumble is nice. And sometimes we fry up plantains in coconut oil but I don’t think that is particularly healthy. But the plantains are naturally sweet and satisfying.

Poor in a cold glass storage container, cover the top of the ice cream with plastic wrap to avoid air pockets, cover with lid, freeze overnight. Done. OHHHH if you can FIND real ice cream, it's so much better than the crap in the stores. In Michigan we found a place, look this up. Called mooville. Big one in Nashville Mi. It's a big dairy farm, kind of a hoot, all robotic. Cows get in line to be milked totally by a robotic machine. They even have a "cow wash" for the ladies. Well they get the fresh milk right from the cows, send it to cooling vats, and from their directly to the kitchen where they make REAL ice cream. There is a whole wall of information inside the milking room explaining how certain protein in these cows milk which ultra processing kinda of destroys, anyway that has to do with so many people who are lactose intolerant. NOT with this milk. REAL MILK doesn't do that. So my daughter and I got a huge double scoop cone, and about 20 min later she says "Ma, I'm not getting that tired sugar plunge afterwards." I said ya know what? ME EITHER. GETS GET ANOTHER! I bought some REAL half and half, NOT homoginized. And some actual heavy cream. (Just try finding real heavy cream in the store.) Both were SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!! I forgot just how good real milk is. Haven't had it since I was a little kid.

I want to give everyone some pro advice, whatever carbs and suguar you must eat, always do it after exerting a lot of energy, aka exercise, what this does is restore your glycogen and depending how hard you train or exert determines what carbs stay as fat or get used as energy. This is also in the sports industry designed to help you get gains after workout with proteins. I remember when a woman who had a perfect bum wanted to gain size, and after bum and leg workotuis she had carbs and ice cream she just inflated in size way too much, sadly when perfection meets stupidity this is what happens. This Dr is 100% correct about ice cream trust me I'm a scientist. Governments everywhere you go are all allowing food industries to sell artificial GMO's chemicals etc.. Good luck guys

I love ice cream, but I became lactose intolerant in my early 40’s. So I eat coconut ice cream now. However that’s rare now too as I finally conquered the sugar addiction…. But I’m sharing this with my good friend- you Rock Doc ❣️

I haven't listened to this yet, but I can say this much - the best ice cream is that which has the least ingredients, is full fat and cholesterol, and especially has no thickeners like gums. Haagen-Dazs vanilla has only these ingredients: cream, milk, cane sugar, egg yolks, vanilla extract. That's all. As a thin Vata type (in Ayurveda), my body thanks me when I have a few mouthfuls.

I have a theory also. Maybe it is because eating ice cream makes us happy, makes us smile, makes us kinder to those around us. This lowers stress and cortisol which helps our body to heal and turn on those much talked about health defense systems. It seems what all long lived people have in common is they have gratitude, and are happy souls. Eat the ice cream with joy and appreciation in your heart and it will be a health food. Eat it with shame and personal recriminations and it will turn to poison in your veins. Just my opinion.

you theory is far more plausable than the one presented in the video. people consume lots and lots of cold stuff all the time, so just two more servings a week would be negligabe.

I used to make my ice cream, I quit because I ate too much of it, it was so good. Pure whipping cream, stevia, vanilla sometimes some pure cocoa, not much. Put it in a pint jar and shook it for a little while put it in the freezer get it super cold and take it out and shake it some more, keep doing this until it’s almost doubled in size…get a spoon and enjoy after stirring a little bit.🥰🤗

Great video for us diabetic ice cream nuts! How about frozen yogurt, Dr. Li? I like Taro flavor with blueberries, almond slices and a touch of hit fudge. Bad? Is this study going to be repeated with a larger cross section? Also, how about anything cold? I have ice water or iced sparkling water almost every day. Is that not good then? I shouldn't have that every day?!

What I didn’t know was how unhealthy artificial flavours, colouring and sugars were for a persons gut, shocking to think we’ve been fooled by the hype. I’ll have to be careful about even hard candy and avoid those shiny coloured ones with so many additives. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you for this information. it makes so much sense. I'm just learning the difference between raw milk and processed milk, table salt and sea salt, table white sugar and natural unprocessed sugars, etc. natural fats vs ultra processed fats. Eating foods the way nature makes it is safer and healthier! Also, preparing foods the traditional way (such as soaking grains and beans before cooking) instead of the modern, fast-food way, and making baked goods by soaking, sprouting or using sourdough to neutralize the antinutrients and phytic acid, etc. ......I wish I knew about how our foods have been denatured and poisoned a lot earlier. Still, I'm glad to know I can make better choices now.

Healthy homemade ice cream ingredients: 100% grassfed cream/half&half from type A2 cows (like Jersey and Guernsey cows). Egg yolks from 100% pastured organic eggs. Real, natural sweeteners and flavorings (vanilla, organic strawberry jam, real unbleached sugar, maple syrup, etc.). The fats from 100% grassfed (meaning they ate a fully grass/pasture diet their lives) have some of the healthiest fats next to seafood.

@@limitisillusion7Yes, it is. And it's hard to find dairies that are truly humane because even if they treat the dairy cows well, they have to impregnate them yearly in order for them to produce milk. And they take the babies away far too young and selll the males into terrible veal operations. The best dairy comes from family cows or very small farms that allow the babies to stay with their mothers longer and do something humane with the males and with the dairy cows that no longer produce.

I gave up ice cream for five years. I think that was a mistake. I have resumed my lifelong ice cream indulgence and am no longer under weight. At age 68 I have more mental energy having returned to ice cream daily. I like Hagen Daz especially vanilla coffee and strawberry. I combine it with Greek plain yogurt and fresh strawberries. I do eat it more than recommended. But I have a severe light disorder and rely on Vitamin D magnesium and calcium to counter my symptom overload. Ice cream it seems is a benefit. Interesting I returned to ice cream with winter solstice last December when I found myself craving something sweet.
