Zack Hample is one of the most well known fans in all of sports and its for all the wrong reasons. The MLB (Major League Baseball) Fan, Hample has been in the middle of some of the biggest events in baseball history including Mike Trouts first career home run, but he is hated because of the controversies surrounding how he catches the baseball's that he does. Enjoy this informative video regarding Hample, and whatever you do, NEVER go and leave hate on someone else's channel because of something you see on mine.

He talks about the thrill and excitement he gets from catching a baseball, and then at the same time acts like he doesn't get why people are mad at him for catching balls that a kid would've caught because he gives them the ball anyways. You're taking that thrill and excitement you've felt literally thousands of times away from a kid who probably only has that 1 shot at it. If you cut a kid in line coming into the stadium to get the last bobblehead, and then decide to film yourself giving the bobblehead to the kid you cut in front of, are you really doing a good thing? Or are you just looking for attention?
@JCarlito19

That's the main thing for me. Even as a kid, if Zack ran in front of me and caught the ball FOR ME, and then turned around and handed me the ball, I would legitimately throw the ball back. Even as a kid. I don't want to be HANDED a ball, I want to CATCH the ball. It really should be that simple. And if Zack is denying them of that moment, then he's making the moment less special.

Yeah that seems like the best way to sum him up. Attending the Fort Bragg game and arguing with security guards is weird, but he still seems cool given how many baseballs he gives away to people (mostly the same kids people claim he steals from). Plus he is interacting with the game of baseball in a very unique way compared to other KZbinrs and fans, and having over 10K baseballs collected is a great achievement

Ahh Zack Hample, I’d like to share my experiences with him I practically grew up in Shea Stadium, it was a second home for me. My father and I had a Saturday partial season ticket plan and , my father being the great Dad he was, would get to the ballpark super early with me so I could watch batting practice and maybe get some autographs . So we’d always show up and wait at Gate C ( which opened an hour before the other gates ). And either right before us or right after us would be Zack Hample . I’d watch him anxiously try to get his security check done and run into the stadium like a madman. If I was ahead of him I’d often try to make small talk with security and walk slowly side by side with my Dad to hold him up a bit 😂 And then the Zack Hample show would begin…. Running around the stadium full speed like the cops were chasing him , juking in and out of groups of people, bumping people and nearly causing major collisions ( all the while security yelling at him to stop ). Pushing his way past people through certain rows to get to his spots , reaching up over kids and catching balls before they had a chance . Changing into his stupid cheap bootleg visitor team shirt and cap pretending to be a visiting fan to deceive the players into throwing him balls , etc … And it didn’t end at BP. During the game he would never sit, I don’t think he even really watched the game . He’d run back and forth through the concourses depending on who was batting trying to get a foul or home run ball. The guy was an absolute nuisance and a jerk. I can only imagine how many amazing memories for kids he stole and ruined just to fuel his own greedy obsession. He tries to say that it’s ok now because he catches it and gives it to a kid ( more on that later ). But he forgets that a big part of that memory and the experience is catching the ball themselves , not having this clown catch it , mark it in his little notebook, and hand it to them. I hope he’s changed though I doubt it. He claims he never bumped into anyone or stole from kids, all lies I saw it week after week with my own two eyes. He should be banned from all MLB stadiums . I think the more likely scenario is he realized the bad press he was getting and the increased flack by other fans and security, and he realized he can run his little “business “ overcharging people to catch balls for their kids and get paid to travel and get more balls for himself ( oh and lie his way into games meant for veterans ) and all he has to do was give away a couple of balls on camera . Dude was an absolute herb, I never knew anyone back then at Shea who had anything good to say about him. Amazes me that he’s fooled so many kids into thinking he’s a good guy now.

I wonder if this guy is on the autism spectrum? I don't ask this to excuse his behavior, just an observation based on raising a daughter on the spectrum who has focused interests and no natural interpersonal skills. The difference here is that we did our job as parents, supporting her interests in a reasonable way while working hard on learning social norms, cues, and boundary respecting behavior. It's hard work for her, but she's doing great. Even makes her own videos without knocking people over, being deceitful, or ruining special moments.
@HACLumps
@HACLumps 2 ай бұрын
@@theukekook7992 First off credit to you, I’m sure it’s very challenging but it sounds like you’re doing your best as a parent and she’s thriving as a result . I wish her and you all the best in life As for Zack, I mean I never thought it was fair to speculate about someone’s health afflictions , so I’m not going to take part in that, though I have wondered myself. But I will say two things 1. It’s ok to have a hobby, it’s ok to be passionate about a hobby, but this is an addiction. When you’re willing to do… I’ll try to say this nicely … ‘morally questionable’ things to fuel your interest it’s become more than an innocent hobby . 2. It boggles my mind how he doesn’t seem to feel bad about the things he does. I was a diehard baseball fan for most of my childhood and teenage years. I’ve never caught a game ball but I’ve caught a few batting practice balls and for each one I can remember the player who threw it to me and where I was when I caught it, the feeling of the ball as my hands closed over it, etc… I cherish those memories and those are permanently engrained in my mind. He sees nothing wrong with throwing his gigantic glove over a kids hands , catching the ball, jotting it down in his spreadsheet, and handing it to the kid. He thinks the kid got the ball so no harm done. He doesn’t realize that he’s robbing that child of the most important part of the experience. Anyone can buy a ball at a sporting goods store, the ball itself physically is the least important aspect, it’s the memories and the feeling that is key. Whether he is on the spectrum or isn’t , his actions are deplorable. And if he is on the spectrum in no way does it excuse this behavior. You can be on the spectrum and still be a decent person, as you are raising your daughter to be.

I recall having similar interactions with him at Citi Field years ago. Throughout my life (until more recently when I've settled down with a family) I had always been pretty excited about BP and catching baseballs. When I had just graduated college and was living in NYC I used to go to Mets games nearly every week. I usually attended BP and exactly as this OP stated he was at nearly every game I attended and would always wait at the gate and run full sprint through the stadium as soon as the gates opened. I especially recall one game where we were both in the outfield at BP and one minute he would sprint full speed from one section to another to catch a ball on the fly then a minute later be at the wall having switched shirts asking the opposing team for a ball. BP stopped being fun for me after that. Getting a ball at a game is super cool but not if you are a grown ass man acting like a psycho to get it!
@olivertwist227
@olivertwist227 2 ай бұрын
I'll never forget being 10 years old at Camden Yards during batting practice and standing above the scoreboard waiting for a ball to come over. I had learned from previous games that the ball would be easier to catch if I stood back towards the gates. When one finally came over it bounced in front of me and hit the gate above me. I put my glove up to catch the ball, and a 25-year-old man grabbed the ball from inside my glove and raised it over his head. Everyone around booed and he didn't care. This guy reminds me of that day. It would have meant the world to me to catch a dumb baseball at age 10. I would never take a ball from a kid as a grown man.

Coors Field is not the only stadium I have heard of that does not allow fans to move from section to section. My home baseball stadium, Progressive Field has a similar policy for people moving from the stands to the seats behind home plate (the policy isn’t enforced from what I can tell but they have signs up stating not to do this). I do think the security guard saying stay in your seat or leave is a bit far, especially if that’s the first time the security staff warned him about it. Asking for the tickets to the Fort Bragg game is desperate and childish. However if that soldier did give him the ticket then that’s the soldier’s choice to do so. I don’t see how it it’s “stealing from a soldier” when a soldier chose to bring him to the game.

There's no doubt that Zach Hample takes away some of the most precious moments that a fan could have at the stadium. Imagine you sitting there, minding your own business while rooting on your favorite team. A ball gets hit YOUR WAY, everyone gets up near you. Then out of nowhere some random dude gets in your row and literally runs you over going for said ball. We all know (if you've ever attended a game ) that things can get a lil hectic on foul balls and especially home run balls in the outfield bleachers. It's one thing for your surrounding peeps in their chairs to go after the ball, but some dude who isn't even in your SECTION? Nah, that's where the line is crossed. That is the best example of why what he does is waaaaay too much, and it's actually a detriment to the whole fan experience. Taking away from kids is the worst too, btw. Poor kid's memory will be Zach snatching a baseball from him/her that they coulda caught....then getting handed it like they are some toddler. I'm sure that MLB appreciates his "passion" for the game, but it's really just a selfish fetish for a vault full of baseballs that he can eventually dive into, Scrooge McDuck style.

@@Superdog-kh3ee The fact that "many adults bring gloves" doesn't answer the question of WHETHER adults SHOULD bring gloves to a game. (I think that's begging the question). I think if you are going to allow balls to be kept and caught by fans, it would be perfectly reasonable for a team to prioritize the kids over the ball hawk adults to go to games in terms of who can wear a glove. I look askance at any man who brings a glove to a game. An adult with any sense of coordination and concentration can catch a ball with their bare hands. Maybe Chicago folks are just tougher because we can play 16 inch softball barehanded. And, my point about out-of-play baseball ownership was simply saying that the teams could make this rule and be as arbitrary as they want. They can say that the default is "we own the baseball and we can choose to let you walk away with it if we like." And they can decide that they will keep any important baseballs (to avoid the AROD situation) or they can decide that the only people walking away with baseballs are kids. The fan entitlement with baseballs at a game isn't absolute. It can literally change tomorrow (and frankly I'm surprised they haven't done it already).

Regarding the Fort Bragg Game, I really fault MLB more for having the game on a military base for their own posturing rather than bus in thousands of soldiers to different MLB games around the country that both soldiers and civilians could enjoy alike. Hample really just wanted to catch balls at a stadium he hadn't been to before, when in reality there was no reason for the stadium to be there in the first place (they knocked it down after putting it up just for one game). I do think Hample went too far in copyright striking Pesky Talk for this video. But I also would like to see his haters post evidence of Hample interfering with a child catching a ball (being near a child while catching a ball isn't that).

am i tripping or is the fort bragg thing not that awful? like if that soldier who took him genuinely took him just because he decided to, how is that bad? if the ticket just literally was gonna go to waste… cuz it’s not like a different soldier would’ve magically gotten their hands on it yk? like if zach was just genuinely that soldiers guest then where is the problem…? and i’m not defending zach as a whole, just this scenario. like the rockies game one was bad and pushing kids is wild 😭. but if their were other non military guests at fort bragg that night then is it crazy for him to have made a post expressing his strong desire to be there and then accepting an offer to go… from someone literally in the military lol. idk maybe im crazy

I am biased but: I dont hate zack. I have gone through the gambit with him. I started off as a viewer/fan, then bought into the "tramples kids" narrative and then I did some digging trying to find proof of this and I really didn't find much. So now I am back to being neutral for the most part. After the clip around 6:25 happened he now buys multiple tickets so he can go to these sections without having to deal with these negative interactions. At least I believe thats the case now. Anyways I am left with very little evidence of him doing all these things people claim. The military thing is kinda messed up but I dont really know the full situation. If people were allowed to bring a guest I dont really see why its such a big deal but I am guessing there is more context I dont know and that was probably a game he should have just skipped out on especially if civilians weren't allowed. However there is a positive with zack that is not mentioned. He gets people into baseball with his videos. I probably wouldn't be into baseball without his channel. I played as a kid in the 90s but gave it up and quit caring about sports all together. Then in like 2016 I was randomly reminded of an old blooper vhs tape I had called "Super Duper Baseball Bloopers" so I decided to look up modern bloopers and after an hour of watching I ended up on zacks channel and it just got me more into the sport as a whole. Seeing all these stadiums made me want to go see these things in person. It took 8 years but just last month I went to my first MLB game since 1997. Would I be into the sport without his channel, probably but I do have to say his videos influenced me to want to go but not enough to try and fight people to catch balls. Anyways I think zack is just an adult with a slight case of the tism and he is just into baseballs and thats fine. Also he's from the east coast where people are just a little bit more cocky and entitled so I give him more of a pass than I would for someone from like kansas or something. But at the end of the day I dont really care I wont die on a hill trying to defend a guy.

I'm almost 20, and the last time I brought my glove to a game was at 16. I personally would feel weird doing what zack does, you shouldn't be running around asking for balls past the age of 15/16, let the little kids have fun, no need for an adult to ruin it
@TheLearningCatalystCoach

And there are TONS of these ridiculous adults doing this now. It's pathetic. My kid was so disappointed at a Giants/Cubs game when we showed up 90 min before opening pitch and watched our two favorite teams warm up. He didn't expect a ball(we talk about entitlement and never expect anything)...but it's frustrating to watch "adults" ruin any chances the kids have. We were down at field level, purposely away from the selfish adults shoving each other(and kids) near the dugouts. A group of 30 somethings kept shouting and taking videos up above us on a ledge, and eventually the only balls that went into the audience from the Cubs were to these dudes who couldn't care less about the players, the game, or the moment...just that their weird KZbin "creator" video got attention. Lame. Guaranteed they didn't keep the balls. (And the players, especially younger ones or seems, feel pressured to comply with folks who would otherwise hate on them and draw negative attention if they don't pay attention/throw them a ball).

@@TheLearningCatalystCoach I don't know. A lot of children wind up playing with and losing the balls that they catch. I think there may be more adults who might collect a caught ball and save it among their bobbleheads and other team paraphernalia then children who save a ball. Evreyone I know who has caught a ball when a child lost that ball at some point shortly after they got home with it. And who knows if the adults you saw didn't have children at home or little ones (nieces or nephews) that they were going to give that ball to back home? You don't know what they did with those baseballs. You can't guarantee anything unless you actually went home with them and saw what they did after they got home.

@@jodi183 just like you can't guarantee that kids lost them, lol. You literally defeated your own weird argument that pure speculation. I've watched adults not care about these balls afterward, and known people (adults) that have lost them. Kids keep treasures. Clearly you don't have kids. My kids, just like me, has a shelf above his dressers filled with things like this, including a used bullpen ball from a major league game that sits on a little stand.

@@TheLearningCatalystCoach What I said was "Evreyone I know who has caught a ball when a child lost that ball at some point shortly after they got home with it." I can rephrase that: the folks that I know who caught a ball in a game when they were a child went on to play with that ball and eventually lost it. Anyway, it's not really worth arguing and I certainly do not fault anyone for catching a ball at a game and keeping it for themselves. And this Hample guy does give most of the balls he catches to kids. I think he even donates a bunch as well.

I went to college with Zack. I’m also a ballhawk who’s gotten close to 1K balls and like Zack, give many if not most away. He’s a super nice guy and very generous both with his knowledge and with giving away baseballs. He’s made so many people happy and the haters are IMHO jealous of his skill and fame. If you don’t like him don’t watch his videos. He makes a LIVING enjoying himself and watching games due to his super successful channel. We should all be so determined. BTW I have never, ever seen him “take a ball from a kid.” Anyone who has EVER ballhawked knows that physical contact is inevitable, as is coming within inches of getting a ball only to have someone else get it and vice versa. Adults (including me and Zack) should give away balls to kids and he often does. Also he gets way more tossups WHICH HE GIVES AWAY than he “takes” away. He’s so knowledgeable that he knows who the players are and that knowledge prompts them to toss up balls. I do the same thing. If he gives a kid a ball which would never have gotten into the stands if Zack wasn’t there…then he’s THE REASON THAT KID GOT THAT BALL! Not to mention if you get $150K for charity you’re obviously not an arrogant jerk. The Fort Bragg thing wasn’t great but wasn’t it the soldier’s prerogative to invite him? And can anyone honestly say they haven’t made a mistake? To me, apologizing and owning it is all we can ask of him. Again as someone who goes way back with Zack, he’s a way better person than anyone who doesn’t know him gives him credit for, and like any celebrity, some hate is inevitable. But I’m on TEAM ZACK!!!

Make the argument that he got in through a loophole or even within the technical letter of the intended rules but don't say he didn't know. As much research as this man does that just makes him look worse. And if you find yourself "feeling really bad and apologizing" more than once MAYBE twice about the same kind of behavior, then you are either lying or don't really give af. I don't hate him for catching baseballs. He has his thing. But pretending not to know takes it from scumbag to world class ahole status. At least in that instance.

However, I also think he shows a sense of entitlement the way he runs around the seats doing whatever it takes to catch a ball - even if he gives the balls to kids.
