I never hated the Wii. There is a lot of shovelware on there, but I think that’s because it was so successful. But there are really fun games too.

I bought the Wii on Day 1. I got it with Zelda, and didn’t buy another game for almost a year. I think the system had a slow start, but eventually it got going and I enjoyed it very much, particularly when the casual market fizzled out and the high-quality JRPGs started getting released. I never really liked the motion controls (they all but ruined Excitetruck, which was otherwise superb fun) however and the SD graphics disappointed, but the Virtual Console introduced me to many exceptional retro games and the on-rails titles with pointer controls, especially the Resident Evil ones, were excellent. Great video as always. Love your channel 👍

@@shinra2755 one of my biggest regrets is ignoring the Wii’s virtual console, I heard many great things about it but never even bothered to visit it. Sadly, I didn’t even utilize some of the other channels on the Wii and I really wish I could go back in time and do so. While the Wii didn’t have a very large quantity (physically) of RPGs, the quality of games it had were quite good. Everyone talks about the big three operation rainfall games but there were a lot more RPGs to play that were good. I still want to play a lot more on rail shooters and other “Gun Con” games, It’s the Wii’s bread and butter. Thank you so much for the positive feedback.

@ Always a pleasure to hear your experiences. I thoroughly enjoyed the second of the resi light gun shooters - Umbrella Chronicles I think it was. I bought it on clearance for €6 brand new and thought very little of it at the time. I wasn’t expecting much but when I did get down to playing it I was hooked! I think the Wii is a system full of hidden gems.

@ I completely agree with that and publishers like Capcom and Sega took real advantage of what the switch had to offer.

The Wii is one of my favorite consoles, mostly for the light-gun rail shooters (a lot being arcade game ports like Ghost Squad and The House of the Dead 2 & 3). It's nice being able to play those types of games without having to have a CRT like you need for the PS2 light-gun games. A couple other favorites of mine are Sin and Punishment (another kind of rail shooter that is more complex than the arcade games) and Muramasa: The Demon Blade (a great side scrolling hack and slash game).
@GamesWithTeaАй бұрын
@@cornbreadcody the implementation of motion controlled shooters was brilliant, a perfect match for the Wii. Muramasa is such a great game, I beat it on the Vita but played the Wii version as well and it looks and plays awesome. I going to add Sin and Punishment to my current backlog because I’ve heard nothing but great things about that game. Thank you for reminding me.

I think the Wii reinvigorated gaming interests by making it much more accessible to those less into games. This was great, mostly, though it did sadly bring about a new era of shovelware that helped hide quality titles. Otherwise, I think a lot of mindsets put forth the effort to dislike it simply because it WAS popular and successful, which is a common thread often seen in people.
@GamesWithTeaАй бұрын
@@DoYouNerd definitely, it really did appeal to entire families and friends rather than individual gamers. My mother’s nursing home had a Wii where they would play Wii bowling. But yes, Nintendo’s failure to QA third parties open the floodgates for cheap poorly designed motioned controlled shovelware that honestly hurt the technology and buzz in the long run. I agree with you on people’s mentality when it comes to hating on success, it is kind of strange how the mind works but luckily I’ll never have to worry about it with respect to my KZbin channel 😂.

Wii garnered a lot of hate back in the day. I think it used to be more overhated but as some gems have come out of the woodworks, it's become more beloved of a library. There's definitely a lot of garbage there to sift through but I like it all things considered. My most significant Wii memories consist of the following: - My mom loving Wii Sports and always asking if we could play the bowling mini game - Decent wifi experience playing Pokemon Battle Revolution + Mario Kart Wii - Horrendous wifi in Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Every lightgun style game I've played being an absolute banger (Link's Crossbow Training, Sin and Punishment, House of the Dead, etc.) - The motion control sensor making Okami barely playable It did a lot and has a great history. It's not always my ideal way to play but I wouldn't appreciate traditional gaming as much as I do without the Wii's uniqueness. Hey, Excitebots is surprisingly decent you know!
@GamesWithTea23 күн бұрын
I would have to agree with that. It’s interesting how a console cycles go through periods of love and hate relationships throughout their life cycles. While there’s no denying that shovelware was a big problem for the Wii, when the motion controls worked, the experience felt truly special. I also have great memories with this console, whether it be Wii sports with my sons or Just Dance with the entire family, playing Guilty party as a family or getting a workout on the Wii Fit board, those great memories will always be associated with this console and I’m very thankful for that. I’ve heard great things about excitebots, perhaps promoting it to the backlog pile is a step I need to take.😊

i never knew that Spray game was published by Tecmo. its amazing to me that with the amount of times i look into these companies back catalogue of games. i always seem to over look at a game or 2 from them. but i will admit the game Spray does look pretty average but still an amusing find as for the wii. i think its a decent console not my favourite but it has its interesting stuff. although any game that has an option for a classic controller or gamecube controller will get my attention.

@@BioPhoenixReviews Tecmo, EA, Capcom and I guess Nintendo themselves had some very unique releases on the console. Like you said, probably not the greatest games out there but unique nonetheless. I often wonder if things would have been different had Nintendo primarily focused on releasing games for its pro controller (little to no motion controls) and then released motion controlled games on the side (similar to PS3, Xbox 360). The console likely would not have seen as much success but it would have resonated more with traditional gamers a bit more.

@@GamesWithTea Spray is very... unique... for certain. One of your main forms of attack is using this little companion who "sprays" things (like vomit...) at your enemies.

I think the wii will age very well. It wasn't the "cool" console of its generation, much like the gamecube. Years later gamecube is remembered more fondly as people explore the library. Wii has a chance to do the same thing.

@@mannaman00 I agree, when people actually go back and play some of these games, they’ll be surprised to see how unique of a gaming experience they offer. A GameCube style popularity explosion is quite possible.
