Written by Vince Gill when his brother died. So many people play this for their loved ones. ❤❤❤❤❤

Sadly I hear it at almost every family members funeral. And every time I hear it it makes me think of all of them. Amazing song.
@chrismorin13182 жыл бұрын
He actually started writing the song when his friend and country singer Keith Whitley died of alcohol poisoning. That's where the line "You were no stranger to the rain" comes from. Keith had a song titled I'm No Stranger to the Rain. But Vince finished the original song when his brother passed. And I think there's been another verse added since then.

Vince actually started the song when Keith Whitley died, then finished it when his own brother died. I saw Vince Gill a few years ago & he did this song. I've heard he won't sing it anymore. The original had nothing to do with military, but how genius of HF to do the video in that fashion. 👏 🥰🥰

I was on the honor guard in Ft. Lewis in 73&74 doing the 21 gun salute and folding the flag and giving it to the families. I had to reenlist to get the hell out of there and get back to my original MOS. Now I have PTSD at 70. The military screws you up in so many ways.

Power and full! I love how Adam Rupp's percussion is so understated but gives such foundation and soul to this version. Then you have Rob's vocals and the ending slide up. The switch up adding Amazing Grace with Tim sining is special as well. Austin and Chance hold down everything else.

Time to see the original Vince Gill official video. You will get a better understanding of the origins of the song. Home Free's arrangement is beautiful and the Amazing Grace addition is nice. Like others have stated Vince started writing this song after the death of country singer Keith Whitley. In the first verse the line You're no stranger to the rain is a reference to Keith Whitley's song I'm No Stranger to the Rain. Several years later after the death of his brother he finished the song.

It takes a special person to be able to do that! Let alone the draft when you had no choice. I feel you Mel my Uncle Harry was in the 101st airborne Doomsday he was a paratrooper! Their parachutes for not like today they were just sitting targets and he got shot luckily it was just in his leg but he saw a lot! In the French saved him! He made it back home! My uncle Kenneth was taken through the French underground for two plus years to get him back home safely and my aunt waited for him she knew he wasn't gone. I love all of your reactions!
