Because when John K. took too long to provide a lot of Ren and Stimpy shorts (including the fact that, despite "Man's Best Friend" having George Liquor literally wanting to be attacked by either Ren or Stimpy as part of a Disciplinary Course, and Ren proceeds to attack George Liquor), John K. was fired and Bob Camp took over. Bob Camp is actually not a bad candidate, considering he was actually part of the Team since the Pilot episode "Big House Blues", the same reason Billy West remained voicing Stimpy during the Games Animation lineup of R+S shorts. Regardless, it would be interesting to see your thoughts on how Bob Camp handles Ren & Stimpy, when taking into account what we found out about John K, and the way he treated Ren & Stimpy during Adult Party Cartoon. I recommend you start with "Stimpy's Cartoon Show", which does a self-referential commentary on how John K treats his employees; just imagine John K. is Ren and Bob Camp is Stimpy, and you'll get the joke.

Yay! This one I agree is one of the most iconic episodes of the show. Even the Happy Happy Joy Joy song was used in a Lays commercial many years later too. Bob Camp and others did some awesome work on the boards too for this one.

You know, I think the most iconic episodes of the Original Ren & Stimpy are not only Stimpy’s Invention, but also Space Madness, as well as the notorious banned episode, Man’s Best Friend,(with George Liquor, American, brought to life by the late and greater Mike Pataki), and of course my personal favorite, Sven Höek!

The thing that gets me is that it doesn't make Ren happy, it takes control of his body and makes it ACT happy. It's like a form of locked-in syndrome, Ren is concious but has no control of his body, forced to watch from within as it does what it wants no matter what he wants. Truely horrific.

This is also my favorite R&S episode. The exaggerated expressions, and even a couple moments with an "old" looking quality to them make this one. I especially like the "GO" in Ren's mouth as he says it. R&S in general was a favorite of mine because of the Bob Clampettness of it (the man was actually worshipped at Spumco, even to a fault).

Thanks for posting this, this is my all time favorite episode of Ren and Stimpy alongside Sven Hoek and Stimpy's fan club, both of which are my favorite episodes of the show. They are the reason why Ren and Stimpy is my favorite cartoon of all time thanks to the crazy art style and also how it influenced animation.

Gotta love how Stimpy subjected Ren to psychological torture in an attempt to make him happy. Also, I think that it's a mix between this, the Ren hermit cave episode, and the electric fence board game episode are the best. This episode for the song, the hermit cave for the scene of Ren going crazy, and the electric fence for the very boundary pushing scene where Ren describes how he's essentially gonna torture Stimpy and his cousin? (don't actually remember whether it's his cousin or not).

When I was growing up my mom was OBSESSED with this show (it first aired 3 years before I was born) and she taped a bunch of episodes on VHS and played this one specifically OVER AND OVER AGAIN while I was growing up. I'm surprised I haven't seen this episode talked about with the subjects of stimming. Stimpy trying to "correct" Ren by forcing him to act the way he wants, while actually just torturing him for no reason, seems pretty similar. I could also see it as a take down of toxic positivity.

I love how this episode did deconstruction of "everybody should be happy" trope by the friendly guy literally brainwashing grumpy guy by force. It's probably for the best for Nickelodeon to distance themselves from John Kricfalusi. Here's hoping the upcoming Ren and Stimpy reboot that was announced in 2020 is good. Yeah, a reboot WITHOUT Kricfalusi's involvement is in the works. I just hope it doesn't suffer a similar fate as Powerpuff Girls (2016). Because we all know what happened without original creator, Craig McCracken, on the project.

Well hello, Ren and Stimpy…. It’s not been long enough. But to you, Shawn. Well worth my time. Ok. Yeah admittedly I’m sure NO ONE has not seen or heard of this episode in some way or another. I recall that song all too well despite not actively watching this show when I was little and even later in life. This episode is definitely in memory aside from like three others- and credit where due. Stimpy was indeed evil in this. In the manner of so good his intentions come off negative and Ren can likely be a strange occasional mirror to that in so negative equals good. But idk. It’s there and it did its thing.
