I usually don't like the fake f-holes, but it really does work on this one. Beautiful guitar. Great playing, as always.

Yep. If there's a way to do fake f-holes, it would be that way.

If I am not mistaken, Dark Eyes featured Ray Butts' prototypes of Filtertron pickups for the first time. Chet wasn't happy with Dearmond Dynasonics so he asked Ray to develop humbucking pickups, which he did. I may be wrong though. Today, the original Dark Eyes ist equipped with Dynasonics, maybe the Filtertron prototypes were taken out to get them patented.

I think you are correct.

I think the original was known as the 'Dark Eyes' guitar.

Furthermore, the Chet prototype included mini round magnets set along the fretboard for the sixth and fifth string, near the body of the guitar. 👋

Are these constructed as per the original too? There's not much by way of spec on the site or on the official Gretsch page. They look very cool, I agree the 'boards all look a bit pale on them though.

I like fake f-holes because it's about tone, not looks. The tone becomes more focused sounding and tight when you have fake f-holes or closed top.

Great demo Jack! I've got a 6120 Brian Setzer that I play through my Maz Jr 18 (got it from you years ago), what amp are you using for this as it sounds killer?

fretboard makes it look cheap. should be darker.

Lovely guitar and lovely playing. I like the F-holes but the fingerboard is a bit pale.

Killer playing and storytelling. Lighting sucks a ton, though.
