To be able to play that guitar through an Echosonic has to be about as close to guitar heaven as one can get. And it sounded fantastic! Ahh, I can dream... And I agree 100% on that guitar being acquired by the CMHOF. It should be on permanent display as soon as possible.

Wow! What a treasure! I was watching Chet in 1956, totally fascinated, and I remember a black Gretsch. As a clueless 12 year old, that's really all I remember, except that the sound was unlike any guitar I'd ever heard, and Chet made it do things I couldn't imagine a guitar doing, and I loved it! Little did I know it was the beginning of an era. Watching you guys playing it, 60 years later, sends chills up my spine! Thanks, Thom!

Too many inaccuracies are surrounding this guitar particularly where Tommy E goes over the top. It is not the 'first 6120' The first 6120's came out in 1954. This guitar was the first 6120 gretsch made without actually carving the top as Chets famous "red" guitar had. The sealed top was to Chet an idea about increasing sustain Also Tommy claims that is chet's origianl vibrato arm. Chet used a stationary bracket, not a swivel joint on his It is just a 6120 part of the evolution to the country gentleman and later sealed top It was the guitar Ray Butts used for those "invisible bass man" fingerboard pickups but Chet eventually gave the guitar to Bill Porter who sold it. I think Ray Eddington had it for a while too. Chet was "done" with this guitar. The ones he liked he kept.

Great historic presentation! However I don't believe this guitar should go to any hall of fame. It sounds too good and needs to be played by the best players as some demonstrate in the video.

I share your view, guitars in glass cases don't improve.I have owned midprice guitars that have improved from regular playing for example.
