As a fan of Code Geass for years, I'm actually sad that they removed some of the good parts in the series. Some of the scnes they removed was my favorite. But I love how they made Black Knights not wanting to kill Zero after they learned it was Lelouch. I like how they put some of the additional scenes to clarify some details. Nevertheless, series or the movies, I still love Code Geass.

What's funny about Resurrection is that you can watch it *without* having to have seen the Reboot Trilogy. None of the (very few) changes really play a significant role within Resurrection's Events, not even Shirley, so you can watch the Anime then go straight to Resurrection and it still works. 😝

With so much cut out from these movies, I won’t even bother watching them again. I’m of the opinion that the show needed like 70 episodes to make me satisfied. I love the show but I felt that it needed more episodes to make the plot smoother and develop relationships between characters better. I’m especially sad that Kallen got shafted so hard. She’s my second favorite character in the show and it just didn’t work for me.

Note: A bit lengthy. Apologies in advance! 😅 First of all, I gotta say I'm both impressed and grateful with the amount of effort and dedication you put into making this Video. Heck, just going through all of Lelouch's Final Memories alone in order to accurately inform us what they were is a feat that deserves respect! 👍😉 Honestly, I absolutely *hate* that they removed *so* much from the Anime series! I get that, even with three of them, they have to condense things down and and exclude certain Scenes, and even whole Episodes; I've seen that done before with Movie Reboots of Anime series'... But I've never seen it done to *such* an extent! The Fanservice and Filler(ish) Scenes/Episodes, I get; though I argue we needed some of that silly, lightheartedness as a breather inbetween the serious stuff, and got to know the Characters better with the Filler Episodes. But it wasn't just those that were removed, we lost some *major* Scenes/Episodes (heck, pretty much more than half of R2's gone!) that were either: A - Important to the Plot. Or B - Crucial for Character Development, and the audience *learning* about, and "bonding" with the Character(s)! Speaking of bonding, they ruined a lot of the main relationships (Platonic, Sibling and Romantic) between a lot of the Characters by excluding so much from the Anime! (Note: These are just my opinions. 🙂) Lelouch & Suzaku: Their "Best Friends-To-Hated Enemies-to-Reluctant Allies-to-Brothers" dynamic is less impactful! Even the added Scene where Lelouch refuses to use Geass on Suzaku doesn't feel like it holds any weight here, but would've been perfect for the Anime! Lelouch & Nunnally: Nunnally's importance to Lelouch, and their Sibling Bond didn't feel as fleshed out. Lelouch & Euphemia: Pretty similar to Lelouch and Nunnally's. Because of that, it made Lelouch killing her not feel as impactful. Lelouch & Kallen: They got rid of practically *all* their Scenes/Moments together, to where it made her Loving him and the Kiss Scene, not only feel shallow, but feel like it makes no sense and comes out of nowhere! It also greatly detracts from the meaning and Strength-of-Character that her decision to fight for her believes and what she feels is the just thing, even if it means going against the Man she Loves! And, even if you use the (BS) argument that Kallen only loves Zero (The Symbol), that still doesn't work because they got rid of a lot of the R1 Kallen infatuated with Zero Scenes/Moments too! Which even kinda makes her devastated/betrayed reaction in R1-25 feel left field. She has no reason to despise Lelouch (Lamperouge), they never really had any interactions, positive or negative, so learning he's Zero should be shocking and nothing else! 😆 (Kallen in-general was handled very poorly in the Movies as they got rid of most of her Solo Scenes/Moments and Character Development! The fact that her importance/role as a Character was *heavily* reduced is unfair, especially for such a great Character!) Lelouch & C.C.: Even as a KaLulu Shipper, I like and support the Pairing, but in the Movies it feels kinda forced. Unlike in the Anime, their Scenes/Moments just don't feel as natural or believable to me, and thus it ruins the Pairing's Romantic Chemistry overall. The fact that the Movies got rid of the (major) Scenes/Moments between Lelouch and his other two Canon Love Interests (Kallen and Shirley) to single out his with C.C. doesn't help the Pairing; it hurts it! It truly feels that, since C.C. is the most popular female in _Code Geass_ and because CCLu is the most popular (hetero) pairing, that Sunshine have it happen for views/money. There's no real "Heart" to it like in the Anime. And that's a diservice to a great Pairing! (The Movies - particularly Resurrection - also made C.C. feel like she was, not only selfish by going against Lelouch's wishes and possbly ruining what he set to achieve with Zero Requiem, but, even worse, weak-willed without Lelouch. And she just felt OOC throughout most of the Movie to me.) Lelouch & Shirley: Like with Kallen, Shirley also loses most of her Scenes/Moments with Lelouch. People argue that Lelouch had no real feelings for Shirley in the Anime because of all the times he ignored her, but I always chalked that up to supposed to be humorous "poor timing" moments, than anything genuinely meanspirited. He obviously cares about her as his reactions when anything bad happens to her showcases. Hell, he commited mass genocide on a group (including elderly and children) when she died! 👀 But whenever he ignores her in the Movies, it *truly* feels like he's ignoring her because he doesn't care/can't be bothered. What's also odd is that, according to the Creators, Shirley was (apparently) stated by them to be Lelouch's Girlfriend in the Movies! Heh, I sure as hell didn't get that vibe! 😆 (I'm glad Shirley lived, I really am, but I feel her importance to the grand scheme of things was erased because of it. Her death, and particularly the effect it had on Lelouch, was a major driving factor and losing it not only hurt Shirley's Character Development, but Lelouch's as well. It also made her love confession not as impactful. The Movies trying to give Shirley some relevence with the future set-up felt shoehorned in, and, honestly, Shirley could've been replaced by *anyone* for that role!) Suzaku & Euphemia: Again, they took out so many of their Scenes/Moments, downplaying the Relationship! And with these two it doesn't even make sense! Not only are they one of the few, full-on Canon couples in the Anime (no matter who you ship Lelouch with, none are Canon in the Anime), but Euphemia was a major driving force for Suzaku in both R1&R2! She played a *major* role in Suzaku's Character Development, and it was her death that started Suzaku down a darker path. That effected/destroyed his bond with Lelouch, and set the chain for future events! By downplaying their Relationship, the Movies basically destroy all that, at least the meaning of it since those Events still happen, but they lose their impact. Suzaku's anger and hatred for Lelouch doesn't feel as justified here! Kallen & Suzaku: Their Rivalry is *severely* downplayed in the Movies. The battles between them don't hold as much meaning or merit as it did in the Anime. The Respect they have for the other as a KMF Pilot is also kinda gone. By taking away some of the School Scenes, they took away the fact that Kallen and Suzaku were good friends *before* learning the other was on opposing Sides. Even after this revealation, on Kamine Island, the two are stuck together, learn a bit about each other, and have their ideals clash. They "bond" (sort of). When Kallen attempts and fails to assassinate Suzaku, they (basically) decide to agree to a "truce" (of sorts) while at School. All that made their Rivalry significant and interesting, and removing the Events that allowed those Moments between them to happen takes all that away. Even them simply being hated, bitter Enemies doesn't work as well because there's no real fuel, no animosity between them like in the Anime. During the Black Rebellion, it was Kallen despising Suzaku for being a traitorous sell-out, and for Suzaku, who was out for Zero's blood after Euphie's death, frustration/impatience at Kallen getting in the way of his Revenge. And, after the interrogation Scene, Kallen's anger/hatred towards Suzaku only grew until she absolutely despised him and wanted him dead (understandably so). But none of that happens, so neither the Respectable Rivalry or Bitter Enemies situation between them works. 😕 All-in-all, as you can see, I do *not* like the _Code Geass_ Movies! Granted, this mainly applies to the Reboot Trilogy as, while I *definitely* have problems with Resurrection, I still enjoy to a degree. Can't say the same for the Reboot Trilogy. I appreciate what it tried to do, particularly with trying to bring _Code Geass_ to a newer audience, but the poor gabdling of (most) Characters, and getting rid of *so* much material (some, which again, is needed to better understand the Characters) hurts it. So, yeah... Compared to the Anime, it fails miserably! 😕 P.S. Don't wanna leave on a *completely* negative note so I'll state a couple positives: 1. I definitely enjoyed the upgraded Animation Quality. The Characters (and KMFs) looked "Sharper and Cleaner", and the movements and Action Sequences (particularly for the KMF battles) were very "clean and fluid." 2. I appreciated the implemention of certain Picture Dramas within the actual Narrative. Was a nice touch. 3. Some of the new Scenes were good. I particularly liked Lelouch being adamant against using Geass on Suzaku; being shown Kallen, C.C. and Kaguya during the immediate failure of the Black Rebellion; and The Core Members of the Black Knights wanting to give Zero/Lelouch a chance to explain himself. 🙂

I'm extremely late for this, but anyway. First of: Amazing video! Normally I wouldn't watch one that's this long, but at the end here I was surprised it was already over. And I think you got it all. Well, for the change in wardrobe for Milly. I can only think of the fact that Milly also mourned Lelouch, as her changed attire was darker and she behaved more serious. Maybe they thought she was too happy in the series and they tried to make a subtle connection? I mean, a lot of Milly's interactions with Lelouch were cut, so they tried to show she still felt close to him

that's a great explanation, I mean every change was done for a reason. For example, I figured out why they changed what Zero said when he remerged at the beginning of R2 to acts of justice. They did this because to make it seem like there are two different zeroes. By having him talk about acts of justice over the united states of Japan it seems like a different person altogether. I am glad you enjoyed the video and appreciate the kind words.

This is a good video. Personally, I think the original CG series as well as the recaps and sequel movies are great because they each had something to make up for the weakness of the other. The movies are more straight to the point and less filler while the fillers of the original series were charming in their own way.

Even though I watched the recap films, and knew they were a lot of changes, after watching this I'm like, "Holy sh*t they're are a lot of changes". Funny huh? I'll go over my favorite scene or scenes I disliked from each movie. Initiation: My favorite scenes were the two additions involving Lelouch and C.C. The first one being when Lelouch is playing darts and C.C. is eating pizza. I mainly like this scene because of C.C. smug reaction towards Kallen. I really wish we get a spin off focused on C.C. and Kallen's relationship; if only to see C.C. constantly teasing Kallen. The second being after Lelouch discovered Suzaku is the Lancelot's pilot. I like this scene because I believe it is an improved version of the one in the original series. The similarity being C.C. telling Lelouch to just use his Geass on Suzaku. The difference being Lelouch in the original has a more indifferent reaction while in the movie he his clearly struggling with his recent discovery. The thought of using his Geass on Suzaku really horrified Lelouch. Another difference is that C.C., in the original, asks if Lelouch won't do it because Suzaku is his friend or is it because of pride; and this triggers somewhat of a emotional reaction. In the movie C.C. says he may have to decide between Suzaku or Nunnally; and this causes more internal conflict in Lelouch. He even sheds a tear. I guess I like Lelouch's reaction more in the film than in the original. C.C. was also more concerned for Lelouch, instead of being just emotionless. All in all, I do think the movie improved on this scene. Transgression: This one is interesting. I both hate and love these sequence of events. The scenes being Suzaku from being appointed the Knight of Seven till him coming to Area 11. I hate it because it cuts out so much content and really rushes the plot. It is a real shame all of the scenes about the Chinese Federation are excluded. They were some of my favorites from the original. However, the idea of Suzaku being in the E.U. instead of Area 11 is a fascinating idea. I think they also serve Suzaku's character very well. It builds up Suzaku and Bismarck's more, Suzaku is a little more skeptical of the Emperor and V.V., and he is able to figure out that Lelouch did regain his memories a lot more quickly when he comes to Area 11. Seriously, he had a feeling that Lelouch was Zero back then; however, in the original, he's constantly thinking, "Lelouch have you regain your memories", while he standing there face to face. Come one Suzaku! I know you are not the brightest crayon, but you could be pretty perceptive when you tried to be. The scene with him thinking about Euphy at the end of the film was also a great addition. While I do enjoy these scenes of Suzaku, the scene where he let's the one million Zeros go was an important character moment that most people chose to ignore (mainly Suzaku haters). Plus his combat scenes in the Chinese Federation were also pretty cool. I am very mixed on the subject. Perhaps if there was a way to combined the scenes? I don't know, but you can't always have the best of both worlds. Glorification: Unfortunately, there is not much of the new scenes that I liked (or worth talking about). As a recap film, it was pretty good. It kept most of the ending of R2. The only thing that stood out for me was that they cut Schneizel's conversation with Cornelia (when he shot her) and Lelouch (at the end) short. They basically ignored Schneizel's motivations and just made him appeared be only a genocidal maniac. I get it, they had time constraints and everything; but couldn't they cut out or cut down other scenes to include Schneizel's entire conversations? Music: This is something I don't believe you talked about. Really quickly I noticed that many scenes have different OST playing. This isn't that important, but it can change the tone of the scene. One change I didn't like was when Suzaku was exposed as the pilot of the Lancelot. Instead of that sad choir OST (I don't know these OST names and I am not looking them up now) it is changed to the OST used when Mao exposed Suzaku as is father's killer. The OST during Suzaku unmasking Lelouch was changed as well. When the two of them aimed their guns at each other, the OST is much more dramatic; and when they both shoot, it is followed by silence. I think this change works very well, given how the scene plays out compared to the original. During the climax of the final battle there are two different OST. The first is during the begining of the fight between Suzaku and Kallen and during Lelouch and Nunnally and confrontation. I think it is a original sound track but I am not sure. The second is during the conclusion of Suzaku and Kallen's duel. It is the OST during the scene where C.C. comforts Lelouch andf when both sides are preparing for the final battle. The songs give each scene a different feeling yet somehow doesn't change the overall atmosphere. Finally the song during Glorification's end credits. Its called NE:ONE by Survive Said the Prophet. I just really like this song. Revive is still the best though.
@MyMediaChops3 жыл бұрын
yeah, there were so many changes in the films (this video used over 1000 images in this video). I never discussed the music I thought the changes with the scenes made the video long enough. I also agree that the music changes were okay. I did not like the part they played when Nunnally opened her eyes or the one played during Tohdoh's rescue. The original song in stage 17 was better. I have the same feelings on Transgression is starts off great and just it just goes the hole with all the horrible changes that came from the condensing. I agree that new scenes with C.C. and Lelouch are some of the best parts of the films. I personally loved the scenes between the Black Rebellion and the reemergence of Zero.
@elliegrace99393 жыл бұрын
You pointed out the ost very well!!! I actually hate and love the changes. Some of it are very good but I just don't like how they changed the timing for most of them. It was perfect in the series but its either they played it in advance or delayed in the movies. Also, they put the opening songs in some parts of the movies and removed the orignal ost. (Atleast from my observation).

I didn't really want to watch all of the movies after watching the whole anime. So thank you. I loved the anime, but I just didn't feel like it was worth it to watch it all over again if a majority of the plot is the same. I'd say the biggest things to be aware of is that Shirley and Shirley's dad did not die. Makes me happy they changed that. The death of Shirley was one of the most painful episodes for me because she was one of my favorite of the girl characters. She loved Lelouch SOOO much and seeing her die like that KILLED me. Especially RIGHT after the cupid day episode. Like were they trying to wreck me??? I may watch the movies instead if I decide to rewatch the series later. I just want to go watch Re;surection now.

Hey If you think about it.. Shirley and orange boy retrieved the body after Lelouch sacrificed himself right? Also charles code is transferred to Lelouch. This happens in the movie. But, in original series Orange boy can alone retrieve the body (ofc he wouldn't have left it behind), And Charles died the same way in the movie and the Anime.. right? Only major difference was Mao. But that doesn't matter. In original anime Lelouch still got the Code (he was unaware of this) and Heal. They Guy who is Driving the Cart in the last scene with CC in the back is actually Lelouch. He never lost his mind In original verse. This was CC contract afterall, he has to Be with her. BUT the director said it! He is dead. But he Lived.. it doesn't make sense.. where did Charles code go? It obviously transfered to Lelouch on his throat (when Charles grabbed him while dieing) and it activated when Zero killed Lelouch. Killing Lelouch was important for the plot.. but In reality he lived, Inherited Charles code. In the original DVD of the Final ep last scene, we see Lelouch (Half face) which was removed. They did it intentionally.

@@MyMediaChops i know i might look dumb lol but what do you mean by the alternative universe created by the films?..does that means its a completely different storyline now.. so R1 and R2 is kinda irrevelant if thats the case cause its another world..also THESE films can you name them pls i just thought that after the ending of R2 ..re;surrection would be the follow the plot if you know what i mean and what do you mean by sequel to glorification?
@MyMediaChops3 жыл бұрын
@@Soloverse9213 So there are two timelines now in Code Geass. The original timeline is R1 and R2. The new timeline is the recap films plus Lelouch of the re;surrection. The films are: Initiation, Transgression, and Glorification. The plot for both is the same they just changed parts of the story. I mention them in this video. It's not a new storyline just a different timeline. For this new timeline R1 and R2 are mostly irrelevant. For Re;surrection only a few changes from the films plays a role so you could watch it after R2 if you keep that in mind since most of the original story wasn't changed.

Nice video! Do you think there will ever be a new anime or movie for the series. Not a continuation of this story but like a spin off or something.

I won't lie, The only change that I think was an improvement was the scene where the black knights weren't so quick to instantly sell out and kill lelouch with no hesitation. Other than that I think every single change the movie canon makes creates a worse narrative and less interesting and engaging characters. Honestly Resurrection was pretty lackluster in my opinion, when i first watched it I didn't even know about the alternate timeline so the narrative changes threw me off. I really hope the next Code geass project that was announced will be a continuation of the series canon and not the movie canon. Otherwise 1 of the best stories I've ever seen will truly just be replaced by a more mediocre version and forgotten about and that would be really disappointing.

Changing the Valkyrie Squadron from all females to all males makes no sense! Valkyries are supposed to be female warriors... They really didn't need to make that change. Was it cuz how confusing it was why one of them seemed to randomly yell out Kewell's name before dying? I have to admit I was confused about that at 1st too because I was like who the hell is Kewell?! I know the Knight of 10's name was Luciano so it wasn't him they were calling out to so I had to look up the Valkyrie Squadron to see if it was a fellow member but it turns out it's one of the member's older brother that was killed by Kallen when she 1st used the Gurren on the mountain. So the reason I came up with is that she knows how her brother died and who killed him so when the same person comes to kill her and she feels how it feels to get hit by that Radiant Wave Surger she calls out to him as a like "Omg so this is the pain you felt before you died brother?!" or maybe she thinks he's in heaven watching down on her and she's calling out to him for protection and/or to save her... Either way I would have NEVER made the connection without google because I don't remember ever getting their names in the show like we did with like the Glaston Knight's...

Honestly hearing the changes as to how Shirley and Lelouch live annoys me. Only because I think the original series had a reason for each to actually live by itself. With Shirley first of all... let me preface with Geass doing some CRAZY shit already canonically but I could have taken Lelouch's order to live working on her and it wasnt really realized till after the events of the series. With Lelouch I saw a theory that he gets Charles' code or whatever that made V2 immortal and if Charles could take it... why not Lelouch? Whether intentional or accidental wouldnt matter to me but it could still be a plausible reason. Also Code Geass could really have used another season or more episodes. The jarring jump from R1 to R2 is perfect to show this.
@Boundwithflame23 Жыл бұрын
I’m not entirely sure the reasoning for Shirley works since we see her funeral. But it seems like the Resurrecton movie more or less confirmed the theory about Lelouch taking Charles’ code because we see the symbol on his neck where Charles grabbed him. Also sort of explains why Lelouch still has his Geass because he didn’t take the code from C.C. whereas Charles lost his geass after taking V.V.’s code.

@@MyMediaChops thank you! Now to answer your question: I hated Shirley not dying cause it changed way too much so it feels to me like it’s forced for the sake of a movie where she barely showed up in I loved the Black Knights trying to see if Lelouch had something to say in his defense when they betrayed him. It’s something that always irked me when I watched the show

Sadly they never did Funimation would really cheap with that. Never got to see the recap movies because of it though there isn’t really that much of a major change from the anime series to the resurrection movie with the exception of Shirley dying and staying alive in the recap movies. "The most important changes" - 50 minutes video ;)
@MyMediaChops2 жыл бұрын
I called it most important in case I missed something which I did. In reality it was more like 90% of all changes between the anime and the films. One way you could look at is that everyone values things differently, so by putting the majority of changes some people will value other changes or others. Thus by showing everything there's something for everyone. Believe it or not there's still plenty of things I didn't include or state in this video
