For the Alpha part, I like that all of the heroes were invited into the new Watchtower so that they can be part of the Justice League Unlimited. It’s nice that Clark invited Booster Gold to join the JLU because he knows that he sees the potential in him and that he did his best at becoming a hero for the past 39 years. I also like that all of the heroes all worked together to defeat Darkseid before they learned that the Elseworld (which hasn’t been used since the end of Death Metal) became the Absolute Universe and that Booster Gold learned what’s happened in that universe. Overall, this is a great backup and a great start to the DC All In initiative. For the Omega part, I like that we get to see what happened to Darkseid since Dark Crisis. This includes him obtaining power by traveling through realms to get it (including dealing with Zaurel, Blaze, Eclipso, the Spectre, and the Quintessence), fighting the heroes at the new Watchtower, and using the Elseworld to create an Absolute Universe. Also, referencing Darkseid’s entire history, including stuff from Final Crisis and the Great Darkness Saga. Overall, this is a great backup and a great start to DC’s Absolute Universe.

One of the things I think you got wrong here is making it seem it was Darkseid who went to the Justice league to be separated and to die,. He didn't initially at this point, it was the Spectre who still had a little control who brought Darkseid ( somehow and someway) as it said to the Justice League for help . Darkseid at this point was still wanting more information about himself from the Spectre and he didn't get the whole truth until Wonder Womans lasso was around himself/Spectre. Before he got that info he still wanted to kill the Justice league and didn't want to die by cop as u said. It was only after this moment when his goals completely changed because he knew the whole truth and then decided to (As he puts it) let himself be separated and let the combined might of Superman Zatanna and the Spectre kill him. Side note: Superman was infused with Zatannas magic and the Spectres power at that point so I am not even sure which being would have won if Darkseid had wanted to kill Superman still at that point because he was also full strength in his purest Darkseid (strongest he's ever been) mode without the Spectres power but also without the Spectre fighting back internally so it would have been one hell of a fight between him and Superman infused.

@EvandroACruz, clearly, you haven't read any Damien stories in the past 8 years or so. Yeah, he did have a crap arc in the few years after Tom King decided to make him lose all his new 52 and rebirth character development after Alfred's death but he's come back around. Damian himself has grown as a character especially in comics like the supersons, the recent Batman and Robin run where it focuses on him and his fathers repairing thier relationship, his time when he was working with Dick as Batman being his foil. His first initial half of being a teen titan. (I only say that cause his new team after the initial team left sucked ass), hes got plenty of stories. He's not the same brat that was first introduced in the comics. He's a teen who's trying to find his own place in the world and debating if he wants to move on to his own persona or keep staying as Robin. And especially in Dceased when you see him truly become someone worthy of becoming the heir to the mantle of the Batman and his own accumulation of growth while being in a junior trinity with Jon and Cassie. Tim hasent had any really interesting stories after the new 52 started. The only time I even found him to be relevant in the last decade was when he 'died' during the detective comics rebirth run which we all knew he survived anyways so no point in that nor did it change his character. And the controversial change to his character for clout and sales.

Another thing: Absolute Universe has the same problem like the current Ultimate Universe, in that everything is connected with one singular story. Here it‘s Darkseid messing around, there it was the Maker … instead of having just another sandbox for writers to work in, it has this long rat-tail of a storyline leading in and then being present in the background of the books. Why? It‘s all overcomplicating stuff and is just limiting the series associated with it, since they all have the same story backbone.

DC Comics and Marvel Comics both have a major problem whenever they write stories involving a major event. They just can't seem to keep things short and simple, and straight to the point. They always make reboots and relaunches because they just don't seem to be able to write stories that aren't way too complex, way too complicated, and way too convoluted. This is part of the main reason why they mess up every time that they write stories involving the Multiverse, and dimension, space, and time travel. Aside from the soy gender swaps, woke race swaps, and S.J.W. crap sexual orientation swaps with male, white, and straight characters, the writers on the staff writing team just doesn't get it. Comic book readers didn't ask for any of this bullshit, nor did they ever want it, any of it! Whether they are activists or not, they need to stop writing shitty comic book stories involving reboots and relaunches like this. Or, at the very least, if they must write bullshit, then write good bullshit. They owe the fans that much. But I guess, that's just way too much to ask for.

Comics have become like pro-wrestling. When one promotion really gets over with a talent, gimmick, specialty event or a new move becomes super popular, all the other promotions copy it with a variation. I used to think it was cool that Marvel and DC had some parallels (Aquaman vs Namor) but now? It feels like all these writers come from the same club house, hired by bosses who are also members of their club house. Or maybe they're intentionally sabotaging the industries due to these companies poor treatment of these talents, salaries or IP appropriating. I've heard stories about these companies using the property of the artists for other ventures and not paying them any royalties. Then you have Disney refusing to pay royalties to grandfathered contracts, such as Star Wars Legends writers? Whatever the case, no matter what, the fans and consumers are getting screwed from both ends. Whatever the case, they now monopolize the industries as talents, pushing these agendas and concepts that only they enjoy. You can tell they're the "I don't write for the audiece I write for me and if they like it, whatever" types.

It's so funny that Dc's problem is the opposite of Marvel's. DC of recent too frequently reboots the setting, not allowing said setting to find its footing before another "soft reboot" occurs. It largely means that to an extent, there's too many recent legitimate versions of characters which leads to confusion. Marvel insists that there is one singular main timeline....but the current writers seem not to be able to connect, understand or even bear the weight of the 60+ plus years of lore of the universe. There are too many soft rectons, too many ooc moments, so much history not adhered to that a general soft reboot is absolutely needed. But Dc remains insecure and Marvel continues to gaslight us that everything is fine....

The special wasn’t really good or bad, it’s kind of dependent on what comes next. 1. Absolute Power was another terrible event, if only because it doesn’t make sense read on its own. All legendary crossovers can be read on their own. These modern events are just written for the omnibus, and that’s crap. At best, this series was Waid just emptying the toy box and picking it all back up. 2. I like JL, but this is literally what they did in the JLU cartoon. No doubt that will be better. This was a not so subtle demotion of the Titans back to the kids table, despite making Nightwing a leader in AP. 3. Making heroes more powerful is just about the dumbest idea ever. How is someone supposed to undertake a hero’s journey when everyone is just stronger and better. It’s the antithesis of good storytelling. 4. While I like the New Gods and Legion coming back to prominence, it being successful all depends on what’s next. I don’t really trust Ram V to deliver anything but a drawn out, boring story in New Gods and I suspect DC is working towards a modern version of The Great Darkness saga that will pale in comparison to the original. I’d like to be wrong, but I’m willing to bet I’m not.

Scott Snyder is obsessed with becoming the next Hickman, but will never be(seriously DC hire him and let him take charge and create a proper DC ultimate universe where they give Superman a son that Bendis and tom taylor can't ruin!), also whats your problem with Mark Waid he's writing basically the only great book at DC right now

Snyder and Hickman both aren't that good so there is that. If I never have to see another chart or Hickman design in a superhero comic it will be too soon.

Is DC comics out of stories to tell? The short answer: Yes. Long answer: the Absolute line allows for a decent Booster Gold title followed by a lot of monster movie potential of books. Tell you this much, sounds more fun but less cerebral than Ultimates line over at Marvel today. 🤷♂️

these books are openly nonsensical now. completely ridiculous.

Oh, Darkseid again? And someone once again felt the need to wax poetically about the nature of the universe? Oh, Kirby, I beseech you: turn the full fury of your kingly scowl on these feeble epigons!

Is this not the same as the negativ univers?

I have a MJAOR problem with Darksied harnassing the power of The Spectre. For all intents Spectre is supposed to be an omniprescent, vengful/wrathful GOD! He's supposed to be way, way, WAAAAAAAY more powerful than Darksied...and yet Darksied can merge with Spectre? Spectre is supposed to be fighting Darksied off? Bullshit! Spectre would have laught right in Darksied's face and bitchslapped Darksied all the way back to Apolypse.

It’s comics. It’s never that big to me. My expectations are will it entertain me for 10 to 15 minutes it’s takes me to read. Is the art good. This has been done before but I’ll see where it goes.

I enjoy listening to young readers of comics sounding as if they are wizened sophisticates who don't draw or write and then give critical comments about comics to inform the viewer why not to buy comics. Unlike people who read comics then telling their friends why they like it and thereby letting the creativity evolve. Kirby would not have lasted a year and would have been sorting mail in the mail room. By responding to critics and politically correctness the creativity of story tellers is killed. Darkseid and Spector........... ?........... I'll look for this book! Thank you.

I have NOT read this comic but my takeaway from this is DC knows they have a problem but they still wanna keep the activist obsessed writers, multiple universes, dark universes, even more Batman and still be expensive. This feels like the prolonging of someone passing away rather than try to save the person's life completely. Unless good word of mouth hits an entire year after this DC wave hits, I'm still out. Luckily, i got my indies to enjoy with the open mind that one day at least 1 DC bool will be back in my pull someday

Yup. Got to the end and thought, "Welp. I don't care. I'll give each title ONE issue. Not 3. ONE. And my guess is, they'll all be pretty bad. So, I guess this potentially saves me a lot of time, money, and frustration." I think this is the beginning of me being done with DC for an indefinite period of time. At least until someone reliable tells me that there's something I absolutely HAVE to read (in which case, I'll wait for the trade to come out). Other than that... "all in?" More like all out. (PS: Anybody think the name of the initiative-- "ALL IN"-- is a little bit daunting/telling? Like, DC is essentially telling us that if this initiative doesn't work out, they go bust, and the game is over. No more DC. Anyone?)
