Yes, you are. There are already many physics channels. With British men and women who have British accents. While this dude is entertaining, there's no actual value in this content other than entertainment. He is not entertaining enough for physics, as the subject itself puts most humans to sleep within 5 minutes. He likes to do long form videos. So excitedly speaking things like this is what he does. Sensationalize really boring and drab content. Talk about the structure (lab) and the people and hype everything up. Not drone on about leptons. The vast majority of people watching this have no idea they even are. If you want to know, or already know. Then you're probably watching the British dude from PBS and still not understanding why the Penrose diagram takes us from our universe and outside of reality itself.

Simon, there's a secret military application to neutrino research: DARPA has quietly launched an ambitious new initiative to develop technologies to detect and observe underwater human-made neutrinos from nuclear reactors or small nuclear tests. This suggests that DARPA may explore using neutrinos for long-range underwater communication or detecting clandestine nuclear activities, including tracking enemy submarines. Deploying accelerator-sourced neutrino detectors in the world’s oceans could also enhance the U.S.’s underwater surveillance capabilities by providing a better way to monitor nuclear-powered submarines. The Chinese also have a parallel neutrino project going on.

@crcrewso22 минут бұрын
Why won't that conspiracy theory die? first detector with a reasonable detection rate is a cubic Kilometer of water, yes cubic Kilometer. Assuming you had a detector with perfect efficiency, you could put a neutrino detector in the middle of the reactor and it wouldn't have a measurable difference in whether the reactor was off or on. There is no element of the idea of detecting reactors with neutrinos that survives physics.

the japanese detector uses these vacuum tube amplifier devices. and they tested how durable they were but they didnt do it deep under water. one popped and cascaded and took out most of them. a huge, super expensive and time consuming oversight. they were spaced too close together, and the shockwave in the water blew up the next one, then the ones around that, etc. hand blown giant glass tubes ;)

Notice I said might, when I last looked at the literature I don't remember if there had been conclusive determinations of the interaction probability for each flavor.
