Thank you for referring to it as _shading_ not "rendering." You're one of us, man.👊

I recommend making a short or something out of the snippet @ 7:20 where Michael says that you can compare the color wheel to value numbers on a scale. this is the first i've ever heard of such a thing. even if its not an exact science its a nice base to start trying to see value in color. (When was pondering the local value of the hair I guessed a 6 then he said a 5, that was soo close! proudest moment of my day so far)

Thank you so much! I've seen this technique in works of the artists I'm found of, but couldn't just get a grasp of it myself. This tutorial is what I needed

This was a great lesson! Some things definitely went over my head, but the core principles were amazing to watch you tackle even with the two light sources and reflected light. those things always seem to mess me up in the hierarchy of light values.

People always say don't bother memorizing the scientific names. For me working shifts where I don't get to sit down much, spending a few hours outside of work memorizing the names and connection points allowed me to cycle them through my head and sketch them out when I had breaks. Doing this for a few months caused a huge leap in my understanding.
