Ifrit (sonic rivals 2) can destroy an intirer dimension bathing it in fire (the game comfirms its whole universe, not just a planet). Sonic and Shadow only defeat a heavily weakened ifrit as it isn't fully revived yet (it did eat a bunch of chao and become invincible, though. Plus, he has mind control powers and is just as sentient as chaos even though it wasn't at full power). But they still beat it in base, which is still incredibly impressive. I bring him up because Gerald has notes on ifrit implying Gerald Robotnik somehow got into the dimension that chaosic inferno takes place in. Plus, ifrit seems connected to the chao somehow, and Gerald knows of him, so i hope he is at least in the journal. As for the nega mother wisp, I loved her boss fight. She is a part of the wisps lore (yes, the wisps have lore actually lore, such as the mother wisp creating the wisps and the planets that eggman captured, the ds version of colors going into detail on how negative wisps are made and how it affects their minds, actually giving each wisps their own personalities like Lazer trying to fight the robots and void straight up destroying shit and causing chaos. The mother wisp is kind and motherly but can have a temper. eggman is lucky he got caught in the black hole before she got free. Plus, the wisps actually flow with level design in colors wii and ds. Similar to how the doom powers seem to. Unlike in the lost world or forces. The ds has a better story than the wii version. It has interesting lore, the wisps are fun and the stages are fun. Not to mention, multiple characters have sonic do missions to help free wisps or extra information on what is going on. I have both versions. The wisps are neat and do have lore. I wish sega would actually utilize their lore more). Ifrit and the mother wisp are very interesting and think you should cover them. Plus, the fact that Sonic and Shadow, among other characters, defeated Ifrit in base shows how powerful they are. Also, I think marine the raccoon should return due to her unexplained power, and the complaints about her are already addressed in her character arc and development from sonic rush adventure. Also, phantom king creates the egg revery, which is infinite in space-time, and space and time (yes, there is a difference) in Sonic Mania, and that's just classic super sonic. Also, Chaos drives, artificial chaos, the ark, and G.U.N. are all interesting. I wish sega would use them more, too. Oh, and Emerl and Gemerl should be explored a bit again. Sonic rush, rush adventure, rivals 2, the advance games, sonic battle, and Sonic colors ds deserve more attention. Oh, and sega sonic the hedgehog arcade is awesome. oh, and Sage definitely should return as she is a neat character with cool lore. And the dark arms and black doom are neat lore wise.

They did confirm the new ending is the canon ending. Blaze and Elise are still around, they retconned Blaze to being from another dimension again. As for Elise, she was shown in a recent Sonic Channel artwork ice skating with Silver.

She doesn't know Sonic or any of his friends despite the events of the Advance and Rush games and she repeatedly refers to Silver's timeline as "our future". That Blaze died anyway, so if anything just consider her an alternate universe version of her, just like there are multiple Sonics now because the Generations Sonic is not from the past anymore. Sol Blaze is alive in her dimension, 06 Blaze is dead.

I’m honestly of the view that Eggman doesn’t need to be the villain anymore. Not in the mainline games at least. He’s always been at his beat when he’s shifted to anti-hero anyway, in SA2, at the end of 06 and in Frontiers. Sure he’s been a great antagonist, but they don’t need to do the same thing forever, and if Sage can change that it can only make the somewhat stale story of the past decade better.

I think his defeat in Forces should be the bow on his villain story. He took over the entire world and still lost. He achieved everything he set out to and still wasn't meant to win. Having Eggman as a neutral party, not good or evil, is kind of perfect. Let him create his own country and call it Eggmanland and get involved either out of necessity (like in Shadow the Hedgehog 2005) or let him get into serious conflict because he is trying to protect his nation but does so with dangerous methods.

True! I love Frontiers (it was my third ever Sonic game!) so I am so glad to see people praising its story! To add on, even during Sage’s songs (which are total bangers), meaning still wasn’t lost. “Dear Father” is like her final message before killing off The End, or what she sings to console herself while thinking of how she’ll never find a home. But “I’m With You” is Sage and Eggman heading home - a true home. She interprets that she has a family, both with Eggman and a found ‘family’ or friends with Sonic. The truth is that her abilities aren’t groundbreaking. Teleportation, shields, mind manipulation… but the way it was executed was amazing. Neither us nor Sage know why she cannot fully control the Titans. But we know she can control it fully without the Ancient and The End fighting for control (as seen with Supreme). Even down to her design. Especially in The Final Horizon, Red = Incorrect, emotionless, wrong while Blue = Solved, hacked, etc. Though The End’s purple aura is meant to mix the two, I’m guessing, Sage’s colors was red like the Cyber Corruption and gradually shifted to blue. It showed her dilemma being solved, which is why the final island was dedicated to her. She already had her problem solved.

We need a Metal and Sage tag team boss battle in a future game. Imagine, playing as Sonic and/or Tails, and you have to fight aginst them both. They actually complement Sonic and Tails well as adversaries. Sage, while more like a Frenemy to Sonic, would still do what’s necessary because he’s a threat to her father. But, Metal can challenge Sonic’s speed and fighting ability. While Sage can challenge Tails’ intelligence and still be able to fight him. I’d love to see her interact with the larger cast in the future.

I think cartoonishly evil villains actually do work really well when given that emotional level of nuance. Especially when cartoonishly evil villains can be viewed as annoying by some if that’s all their character is. If you know who Lord Boxman or Dr. Doofenshmirtz are, they are prime examples of why a nuanced, but cartoonishly evil villain actually works really well. we all know Blaze's inclusion in 06 is super confusing. But I have 1 thing to say. She was still from another dimension in Rush Adventure (which was released in 2007) and the IDW comics (which are canon to the games). Also, in the original ending there's a scene where Eggman manages to get Sage back using the Ancients' tech.

The major difference between Sonic Frontiers and Sonic Forces for me is the advertised main antagonist Infinite was talked up like he was going to be Sonic's toughest opponent yet. And he ended up being a disappointment. This was supposed to be the game where Sonic lost for once, and him losing gave Eggman the advantage he needed. And Sonic lost, not because his opponent was stronger, but because he was overwhelmed and had no one helping him. He was in a 5v1 and fought for his life. Infinite barely did anything in that fight. And the swcond you do actually fight him, you win no problem. This was the new threat? Sonic's apparently "Strongest opponent so far"? The whole thing with the Phantom Ruby was underutilized. You could have fought the first Infinite boss only to then be shown that Infinite wasn't even fighting, he just made you waste your energy and when Somic was overconfident, he could go for the hit. My point is, Infinite ended up being generic and predictable. Almost a other Mephiles. Sage was shown to be the next big threat to Sonic, just like Infinite, where she wasn't a fighter, but could control giant ancient machines to go against Sonic and get in his way. And i was surprised by the way they humanised her. The more they fleshed her out, the more i enjoyed her scenes with Eggman. We first learn she's an A.I Eggman made that got a more human-like form after connecting to the ancients technology. She was, in complete honesty, a mistake. And then to find out later on that she wasn't trying to trap Sonic and his friends, but more or less protect them, mainly her dad. It's like, Yes she's following orders like Eggman's creations do, but she's also desperate to keep him safe by any means necessary and in that scene where Sonic takes down, the towers, I say it's not even protocol in her head that's telling her to get Eggman somewhere safe, she genuinely wants him to be safe Infinite was a blank slate with not much development, leaving him as a generic villain we could kind of predict. Meanwhile Sage was a genuine character we grew to care about. If we didn't, why else would we want a better ending for her?

I fully concur, I've not been a huge fan of Sonic, more off again on again & kept an eye to it. Sage & Eggman brought my full attention to it & got me to investigate the series proper. Also it should be noted that the original ending to Frontier the post-credits scene includes Sage being revived by Doctor Eggman so in either ending, & I actually prefer the original ending for story reasons as it is much better developed in that regard, she survives. In the first it is very familiar to how Shadow exists after Adventure 2 in all honesty. It seems absolute that this character is meant to be introduced as a mainstay of the series & I am all for it. Just continue & improve upon the pretty solid writing of the characters in Frontier, improve the plot, & we have genuinely good writing here. This is the first time we've seen solid character development really be tackled since Adventure 2 in any sincere way in the games & with the likelihood of it sticking. Frontiers, if the writing team continues, is the single most important entry to the series in any positive direction since Adventure 2 in story. I agree that Sage is likely going to be as impactful as Shadow, this puts her on more importance than any other character to the series except Eggman, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, & Amy. I believe Blaze has been retconned back into having the alternate dimension as her origins. The confusion was both games were basically developed simultaneously & communications broke down there. Don't think anything about Eggman Nega has been defined but I haven't dug deep-deep yet. Cream, Blaze, Silver, Vector, etc. will all remain mainstays of the expanded roster, characters you expect to see when there's a big celebration or they're throwing in more characters, but not as major components to the formula, not as characters that appear with Sonic by default. Sage seems to be the first example of this since at least Shadow, though arguably she may end up being even more attached to the brand than Shadow since it looks like if the writers of Frontier have their way where Eggman goes Sage goes from here on. I will note Eggman HAS expressed some bits of fatherly affection in some of the materials towards Metal Sonic, which may have been in part a build up to this kind of sotry if we assume that the teams behind the supplemental materials & Frontiers had some communications, which is likely considering they also developed the prologue materials for Frontiers. Won't say it's all planned out but it is definitely a direction that the extended materials had been going in for a little while of what I've seen. There are a LOT of characters you did not go over introduced to Sonic since Shadow, but I have a feeling you're baiting comments with that one a bit.

YES EXACTLY, sa2 was the last time we had more in depth writing that helped to establish lore and characters arcs. We really hope future sonic games continue this level of writing. And yeah, we learned how Blaze is back to being from another dimension again, hopefully this means we can see Eggman Nega again in the future, we feel he has a lot of potential. From the comments we've seen, we went back and looked and yeah, you're right. Eggman has had subtle hints at fatherly feelings towards metal sonic! And lol we just genuinely forgot about some sonic characters to mention like Marine the Raccoon, and thanks to the comments we learned about the existence of Ifrit!

@@DevieDarx Well there's also Cream's mother Vanilla, their two chao, Gemerl, Emerl, GUN's Commander who seems to be getting expanded upon in Shadow Generations based on the animation which suggests he is going to get a lot more story importance as well. There are also a bunch of comic characters like Surge, Kitsunami, Whisper, Starlight, Tangle, etc. etc. though I don't think you were counting those.

And as for the Chaos, we chose to leave them out, since they were already introduced and explored before sa2 and our video focused on characters introduced and explored a after Shadow. It also looks like my comment detailing my expectations with Sage in a reply got removed so I'll summarize here. I expect this not to be used to deminish Eggman's villainy but rather add layers & several admirable attributes to pair with it as well as increase his competency. Throughout the game Sage does not show any concern for anything outside what personally affects her, she shows admiration for Sonic's relationships but that's about the furthest extent & rather explicitly suggests she does not care about the world beyond as something for Eggman's conquests. In English she talks about how Sonic endangers the world once but in the original Japanese it is about the Doctor not the world. I rather see Sage being used to increase how dangerous & determined Eggman is, to reinforce his position rather than reduce it. This gives Eggman competent allies that he actually relies upon & is not going to betray. It adds dimensions to the character without reducing his threat or villainy.

the only issue is that Frontiers is a step in the right direction, but just one step which is great but, when they present a character like Sage to be so important, we don't really get as many interactions between Eggman and her and most of them are thru Journals feels like they had the right idea but the execution failed to some degree seeing the flashback with emotional music where all you see is them just standing... doesn't make me care much about their relationship and i think we needed more, to see more they needed to show more than just write it down i'm hoping next games we see more interactions between Sage and everyone, i want her to be just as important i might be wrong here ofc, but it always felt to me that is was a wasted potential, just liek teh final boss was just Ikaruga, that they had to redo the entire ending as dlc hopefully next games can do better, because Shadow generations is already looking PEAK
