This sequence can help you improve the mobility of your chest, and thus positively influence many other areas of your body and functioning, such as your walking, balance, turning, getting up and down from and to the floor etc.
There might be a legit reason why the Pilates Encyclopaedia called this exercise, The Mermaid, "…without a doubt, the most important spine mobility exercise in the Pilates repertoire."
Contrary to big KZbinrs I do depend on your support. Even a small contribution can make a big difference. Please support me on patreon.com:

I love the mirrored image. I wish all follow along video makers would do it.

thank you for the mirror image. That's very helpful for this particular lesson. I made a fascinating discovery when leaning on my left elbow - my body wanted to spiral. I indulged that impulse a bit, but something felt not right about it. It seemed that different parts of my body had different ideas of where "to the side" was. So I investigated switching the legs and leaning on the right elbow - everything lined up. Returning to the first side, it had learned from the other side, and the parts all got in line. Such a beautiful feeling!

This and the previous lesson gave me a feeling of visiting a cyropractor. With so many facetal joints cracking made me realize how stiff I was before the lesson. Thanks dear

Oh so powerful at finally freeing that hip rotation lock. I suspect this might be as sore as the old lunge masterclass made me (I still have the habit of more is better). How often the side you think is the problem is simply suffering because of somewhere else.

It is! But I think the stiffness of the chest is an old master villain! 😅

I have some problems with leg and shoulder shortening on the right side, I've seen a lot of videos on KZbin and haven't been able to find anything that helps, and I came across one of your videos doing a movement that seems to be very useful in my case... .. But I would like to hear from you which video you recommend from your channel to minimize my situation, if you can answer me I will be very grateful...

Do you need assistance in daily living? Is one leg so short that you have to wear prosthetics? What is your history and situation? These are questions for a private session, you can contact me via pm. In general I would recommend to start with my “Getting Better Day By Day” series. Movement learning is the main function of the nervous system, and it’s not something that can be done and forgotten in 5 weeks total. It’s great that you have found my channel, and I wish you all the best for your learning journey!

@@ImprovingAbility So the reason is about this slight difference in the shortening of the leg that bothers me, and I would like to know if the possibility of someone who has a short leg and a short shoulder on the same side, do you think that one interferes with the other?? . And as for the videos you recommended, I'll watch them.

how can you claim that this is the "most important"? Proof?

I mocked The Pilates Encyclopaedia (!) which called this exercise, The Mermaid, "…without a doubt, the most important spine mobility exercise in the Pilates repertoire." (as it is written on their website) Nevertheless, I think it‘s a great movement sequence and worth trying. Hope you find something interesting in it, too. 😇😅🙏Best greetings!
