The battles between the Porsches and Audis went on like this for almost the entire 6-hour event, even after pit stops and driver changes. This was one of the best races I've seen in years, in any racing series.

Not really, it's all relative, Toyota in 2016 onwards had faster acceleration and in other categories F1 cars and Moto GP bikes still accelerates faster at low and high speed.

Bernie actually wants the same as you. It's the FIA that has over regulated F1. Bernie's part in the recent downturn in F1 is signing Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull to separate, lucrative contracts which sees them get a huge slice of the money pie, leaving other teams with scraps, in a desperate bid to break up the teams' alliance and end the threat of a breakaway series.

I've gotta say, this was the first time I decided to watch a WEC race over F1 & I'm so glad that I did. This race was incredible, I was absolutely hooked ! No drs, just pure racing with different technologies. It sucked that Webber's car retired, but the battle between these two made up for it in the end. Also, Porsche states that their car has at least 900 HP (500+ from the ICE & 400+ from the electric motor) but the way this thing outpaced both the Audi & Toyota on the straights makes me believe its at least 1000 HP. Spa is going to awesome !

Young Progressive Speaking of Webber, I wonder if Porsche would've won if he hadn't retired? It seems likely to me; the second 919 was only 4 seconds behind the leading Audi at the end and Webber was on pole in the beginning so he might've been even further ahead of the other Porsche by the last laps. It would've been cool to see Porsche win the first race of the season. Also, in regard to Spa, is Porsche going to run their cars with the Le Mans livery and setup? Because I'm pretty sure Audi is.

Porsche is so fast on straights (and slow in corners) because of low downforce setup.

8 years later, still, nothing beats this. Sure there are a lot more players now, but everything is hampered by BoP and everyone has the shame engine power, similar chassis. Back then, there was different solutions, and everyone had different strengths and weaknesses. Still battled for hours on end.

This was the golden age of WEC. I know costs got out of control and ended it. But what a magnificent showing. We will never have this again with BoP. I’ll take 2 manufacturers battling like this with the different technologies over 10 teams equalized by BOP. 😢

I was at this race also the year before when the 919 made its debut. It was clear to see how much the mighty Porsche 919 had improved in a year. The rest is history. Porsche, the king of endurance racing.

In the end I have to say ... what battle... The Porsche is clearly the better car, but Audi wanted to save face for a short time. With that kind of slap in the face to Audi, what kind of monster are they gona have for 2016 to defeat Porsche. The rivalry continues. I'm actually waiting for one of the manufacturers to actually develop a hyperdrive so we can all see everything pass by at hyperspeed and do a lap in 10 seconds. LOL

Le Mans senden sie komplett live und die Rennen, die Nachts für uns stattfinden, also Fuji, Shanghai und Austin. Mexiko müsste da auch drunter fallen. Ansonsten auf der WEC Webseite. :)

no horsepower has nothing to do with its accelration ability, it's because it's having higher torque then the audi because it can harvest 8mj of electric energy and this for 8 seconds while audi can only harvest 4MJ energy the difference is that the Porsches have two way to harvest energy by Kers Kenetic energy recovery system like audis witch is basically when you brake the kinetik energy lost and the heat from the breaks will generate electricity and full it back to the batteries , then you got at the same time for porsche a exhaust energy recovery systtem the porsche motor's is a 2.0l V4 motor with one single turbo and not a normal one it uses the exhaust energy to put it back into the batteries. if you're familiar with the f1 it's really like the system used in Mercedes Powerunit with the turbo of the v6 beeing splited .
