But a thousand people can play someone else's solo note-for-note. I personally know several. I've seen people I know play that solo stoned and drunk. Why would that be on a list of "Buckethead's" best solos? I can play Sweet Child O' Mine. Maybe I should put that on a list of my best solos so that y'all knew that it was done by me. @Revelator20256 жыл бұрын
Technique-wise, Bucket trumps Slash hands-down. He’s been shred-precise for years. 1992 I first saw Bucket in SF. Playing GnR material and touring threw him into the arena of being consistent, diatonic to key changes other than the chromatic half-step stuff. To have to have a grasp over those changes while soloing and to produce proper emulation of Slash when obligatory, REALLY refined Bucket’s musicality whereby his absolute Uber shred techniques became much more phrase-congruent/fluid... Before GnR, he half-stepped chromatically all over and lacked phrasing cohesiveness heard in 80s rock metal songwriting, etc. Having to adhere to those types of song structures forced B to work and dial that in in his own songwriting. The result was his expanded song, key/chord change/structure choices when writing (and applying his ripping over top of that)...
@jbrookley5 жыл бұрын
Eh, I like Buckethead too but Slash and his music are not comparable. If you just music by only solos, then yeah, your have a case for Buckethead. Even then, Slash has some truly memorable solos... But honestly, Slash just has the riffs. I can think of a lot of Buckethead songs I like but Slash just has these memorable riffs that stick with you. There's not the same structure to compare the two with Buckethead basically just soloing over backing tracks. Playing for the song is different from guitar virtuoso music...

Buckethead shits on everyone, from space. How's he not recognized as the bar none craziest guitarist ever? I dont even dig guitar god worshiping, I much prefer songwriting, but this guys got what the others dont, and what hasnt been seen since Hendrix: CREATIVITY, FEELING, and as usual, skill. Except he surpasses everyone in every way. Hence what I said at the very beginning of this comment. Only thing Hendrix had on him was singing and that certain type of songwriting. But their creativities were very similar. He needs his own Mitch Mitchell... someone bring Zach Hill to Bucket pronto, they got some albums to make.

Its beyond my guitar abilities to mimic either one of the guys_ its just so very important to remind or suggest to beginning guitar enthusiasts or old guitar players to listen to Dairy of a Madman or Blizzard of Oz once a day for like two ,three years, so as to ingrain his solo structure and phrasing to allow yourself a goal in which to dream of becoming.
