Hard to have a good offense when you run the same type of offense thats decades outdated. Under kirk, iowas best rated offense in terms of total offensive stats only rated in the low 70s. They ranged mid-70s to low 80s (out of 120+ teams) majority of kirks time as head coach. Theyve rated between mid 80s to dead last ever since he hired his son in 2017. Iowas offense only has gotten worse since the university allowed this obvious case of neptism to unfold and the university should be held financially responsible and be legally fined for allowing neptism to take place in the football program. Theres supposed to be laws in place against this, yet clearly no one in charge cares to make changes that shouldve been done as early as 2019.

Iowa has the same problem this season as they did last; they have no offensive identity. It's more a collection of plays than a base philosophy complementing a playbook w/ structured personnel groupings, formations, and thorough scheme that incorporates the philosophy throughout. Watching them makes it seem that they do things in situations that the other team shouldn't be expected rather than sticking to a game plan that manages their offensive philosophy.
