Driscoll was also a huge inspiration for Bruce Lee, especially when it came to jab mechanics.

It is always an uplifting, and important, thing to hear the story of someone who proves, simply by living with admirable correctness, that championship is a characteristic truly born in the heart, not on a belt. Fight team!

He also inspired the greatest Welsh boxer ever Jimmy Wilde, I saw Jim's Lonsdale belt when they had it on display in the sports room at the Welsh folk museum at St Fagan's.

I cannot agree. The most beloved fighter of all time is the magnificent, the all-time greatest Muhammad Ali even the great Gama is second.

Ali may be more respected, but not more loved.

@@EnglishMartialArts I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion, Oz. Driscoll may have been beloved on both sides of the pond, but Ali was at one time, arguably the most famous man on the planet. When he died, his passing was felt by peoples in all corners of the earth. You can say that that was 'respect', not 'love's but how does anyone quantify such a thing? It's impossible to know.
