When we sold our home last summer and moved into a mobile home community as a debt elimination strategy, one of the first things we did was replace all the windows with impact insulated windows (spouse is in industry), and replace the siding. While siding was off, we re-sheathed where needed, and Tyvek wrapped the home. Inside we ripped up the flooring - the sub-floor was remarkably in great shape. But underneath, the vapor barrier was tattered, insulation moldy, and duct work pretty rough. Replaced all. NASTY job. But done, and done correctly. We did hire a pro for the vapor barrier replacement - beyond our scope, and scope of friends. And remodeled the kitchen - all DIY except the stone counters. We knew it was a risk spending the cash we were because it is a mobile home in SWFL, but our intent is to stay here long enough to realize our dream of moving. And either cash out, or put home in a rental program. BUT, the investment did pay off: We were smacked with Hurricane Ian DIRECTLY. The onshore eye-wall came RIGHT over our area. (we stayed at a friends). We had minor cosmetic damage, while most of the rest of the mobile community was devastated, let alone the local community was largely devastated by surge. I firmly believe if our work was not completed, or we skimped out on anything, we would be having a different convo. So keep up your work. It will pay off.

I don't remember a crane being used. Usually, they drive it up to your property, level it on the blocks, jack up the part that needs leveling, take the tires off, and you're set. Yes, that covering under the house is tarp. I saw a KZbin channel that was fixing up a mobile home using a tarp to replace the old one. If you have to remove that stuff again from underneath a trailer, cut in the middle and pull it from the side (if you can).

My parents have a mobile home from the 70's that they still live in today. My dad dug down and put a block foundation all the way around it, put an A frame roof on it and even added a garage to the back with a 2nd floor. He replaced all the siding with vinyl siding and from the outside i looks nothing like a mobile home anymore. But if you go inside you see the cheap wood panel walls and ceiling like you tore out in one of previous videos. Its weird to see you do this work knowing my childhood home was built same.

That trailer (or in my case a smaller stick built pier and beam house) seem relatively small, from the outside (or would be easy to accomplish clearing out the old insulation), until you get under there, on your back, doing just what you're doing. Then you realize how big 14x70 (or your trailer's true footprint), or my 20x40 house footprint. I'm going through the same things, right there with ya. You're doing all the good, man. Keep on keeping on. It's looking good!

One day when we lived in a mobile home, an awful smell started. Next black flies started coming through the vents. It was awful and we couldn't find the source. The smell and flies got so bad, we stayed in a motel for a few nights. Finally a critter removal guy found a lump hanging down in the insulation under the house. A possum had crawled inside and died! After it was removed, the smell started going away and so did the flies. YUCK. I"m glad you didn't find anything like that! You did well. Good job.

My husband can relate because when we decided to sell our trailer back 30 years ago we had to fix ours. Our dog had tore out the insulation in several spot after stray cats that went up in it. When he fixed it and then skirted it he used tar paper for over all the insulation so it would stay put and used one of those hammer staplers to put it up with, LOOKED SO NICE when he finished! I was like WHY couldn't it have looked this nice when we lived in it for 13 years? lol Now they have that bubble foil now so it would be nice to use it, just not as cheap.
