I have spent 30 years consuming "health foods and supplements" and everyone around me would describe me as the "healthiest person they know." But I was rotting inside and the list of ailments I suffered would take an hour to put here. Dr Berg saved my life and I am not using hyperbole. I am 45 and feel as good as I did in my 20s. Thanks Doc for the research and real supplements that are top notch!

My husband had a heart attack last November. He went in 3 times with chest pain and they kept turning him away. It wasn't until I came home and he has having an active heart attack and took him in that they kept him. Doctors told him that he did not have any heart damage but did have to have 2 stints. Thanks for covering his topic.

Dr Berg notes: Dr Berg shares some lesser-known heart health tips and how magnesium may help lower heart attack risk. Common heart problems such as plaquing, blood clots, atrial fibrillation, and hypertension are all related to magnesium deficiency. Testing for magnesium deficiency is almost impossible because only 1% is in the blood. The majority of magnesium is inside the cells. Heart medications such as calcium channel blockers, beta-blockers, Warfarin, and medications used to treat high blood pressure work using mechanisms similar to magnesium. Magnesium acts as a natural calcium channel blocker and helps regulate calcium, lower blood pressure, lower adrenaline, and relax the muscles. People deficient in magnesium often feel tired, especially after exercise. They may also experience migraine headaches. Without enough magnesium, vitamin D cannot work. Alcohol, refined sugar, starches, genetics, stress, low stomach acid, drugs, and antibiotics can interfere with the absorption of magnesium. Consuming ultra-processed foods increases your demand for magnesium and could cause you to become deficient. Many sources of magnesium, like spinach, almonds, and chocolate, are high in oxalates. Magnesium glycinate is a great choice for people looking to get more magnesium. Bonus notes! Food amounts needed to get Magnesium RDA: banana 11 cups per day spinach 1.5 cups almonds 5 ounces dark chocolates 6ounces avocadoes 7 cups fish 15ounces beef 4pounds kale 4 cups sunflower seeds 4.5ounces pumpkin seeds 5.6ounces Things that deplete magnesium: alcohol refined sugar starches genetic condition stress antibiotics ultra processed foods Thank you Dr Berg! 😺👍
