Track needs to start experimenting with “exhibition” races over more distances. Imagine more outdoor 300’s being ran, indoor 300’s are extremely competitive, adding 150’s and 300’s into the race calendar that are separate from the world championship qualifiers would be great to bring more eyes to the sport, it could also potentially encourage more athletes from other sports to try out shorter races like the 50m which has been run a few times before

I'd like to see what Michael Norman could do in the 150m, he has good 100m time and goes out hard in the 200m

I think in the 150 meters, Bolt would still be on top of that. I think this would be very interesting lineups Fahnbulleh VS Bednarek 150m (Bednarek runs the curve way better so I wonder what would happen if Fahnbulleh had a long straight for him) Peak Coleman VS Peak Degrasse 150m. I know people might say Degrasse with the dub, but Coleman sprinted 9.76 and 9.79 with finishes around 3.43-3.44 and his max V is actually pretty damn similar to Degrasse according to analysts, its just that he reaches it too early, but this would still be interesting. Lyles VS Kerley 150m (The curve also harms Kerley. They both have very, very similar top end speed, but Kerley has a slightly better start on a straight. However, Lyles according to many sources maintained that top end the strongest in the 200m.) Peak Tyson Gay VS Peak Yohan Blake (Tyson Gay has a considerably higher top end speed and quicker 2nd half, but Yohan Blake has endurance so this would be very interesting, probably back and forth after 100m) Peak Powell VS Peak Gatlin 150m I do believe Bolt had potential to go much faster than 14.3 because he split a 14.44 after a bend in 2009 which is insane, he ran 14.3 recovering from a 3 week setback and based off his 9.58, it makes sense for a 14.1, maybe 14.0.

For reference I had Lyles at 14.64 in the 19.31 (5.73, 10.07, 14.64, 19.31) as the transponder 10.15 + 9.16 splits and positions of other runners at 100m proved to be inaccurate in several races.

Bednarek, Degrasse, Kerley (debatable), Blake & Gatlin win their matchups in a 150 imo.

@@Pumpxkin peak Blake would destroy peak Gay in a 150m. His start is better than gays along with his speed endurance. Blake’s top speed is also equal to Gays. Although gay usually has a faster last 40m in the final 100, he always ran his fastest races with a tailwind, where as Blake’s fastest time is into a headwind.

This is why they should add both the 60m & 150m events to the games. This would open the door for other athletes who may not be as strong in the 100m & 200m.

If you account for wind, Tyson's straight 150m is exactly the same time as Bolt's straight 150m. However Bolt was using it as a comeback practice race in wet and cold conditions. Bet he would have dropped something truly mindblowing, like 14.10 if he really had a good race in peak form and fitness. What would be awesome would have been a time trial 125m race - based on his splits he most likely would have covered a 100m segment there in 8.3s or so.

Unpopular opinion: Based on where they were in relation to each other after the curve, Johnson would have won that race due to his speed endurance. I think 150m is the perfect distance to test 100m vs a 200m runner. The 200m would need to know mentally the of course they're going to be behind with 50 meters to go, but trust in their training that they will catch up in the final 50 meters. I'm not sure if MJ was mentally defeated here & gave up, or if he actually was injured. If he were not injured, & they both raced their best (no potential giving up) I think Johnson takes it. With a 19.32 200m, he's for sure going under 15 seconds, & by a decent amount too.

he definitely faked an injury, he saw the initial speed of a 100m WR holder , he miscalculated and believed he will never catch him. not knowing. they tends to get slower at the end, when the 200m runners peak. After all the Noice and Hype, he felt the only thing left for him to do was to fake an injury, very unsportsmanlike.

It was obvious that Michael Johnson was about to pass Bailey in the 150 when his injury happened. If Bailey would have checked the times and splits in Johnson's 200 there is no possible way that Johnson didn't destroy Bailey's record somewhere in his 200. Bailey was the record holder in the 100 but it wasn't nearly as impressive as Johnson's 200. Bailey had a great start. That was something Johnson struggled with but his speed was undeniable. Bailey said he was running the 259 to shut Johnson's mouth but if you had heard the banter in the media Bailey was the one doing 90% of the talking. Michael Johnson was appropriate and said simply that he had the record in the 200 and his time spoke for itself. He didn't brag about being the fastest. That was Bailey's MO.

I love M J , but he chickened out and faked an Injury, that was so obvious a Fake. he missed calculated, that 100m runners bullets out faster in the beginning and tends to get slower in the end, when the 200m runners gets to peak. he killed the race, took the excitement out of it. even when the organisers had to put a little curve in the track to suit him.
