Interesting to see how far away Bolt was to the inside of his lane compared to every other athlete in the 2006 race. Carter was almost on top of his. Bolt is such an aggravating athlete to watch. His incredible times could have been even faster if he focused on small things like this, as well as maintaining a full effort at the end of his races.

Track is a race to win. Why risk an injury or deplete all of your energy when there is a such thing as recovery, a next race and a career. Do pro basketball or pro football teams keep piling up the points once the game is in hand? Only in college and that is because of rankings. No, once you have the race in hand I say slow down, unless you are going for a world record ahead of time. The name of the game is win the race, not set a record every time you are on the track. Now if you slow down and lose or if running in rounds miss getting to the next round then that sucks. Otherwise who is really going to be upset with the guy who has the 100m and 200 m record since 2009, won Olympic Gold 3 times in a row and has 8 gold medals? Lol sounds nitpicky to me. You probably never ran track...

Impressive last 50m...But as we see often, and as I was once told by a wise person, there are always many other athletes that could have been as good as the current champion, but never made it for whatever reason. It could be injury, motivation, an accident, or many other scenarios, that could prevent an athlete from achieving their true potential. Many things need to fall in line, for any athlete to truly reach their potential, and go on to achieve greatness.

@@zanies6288 When you factor in the wind speed for their adjusted times, Bolt's time is still slightly faster than Blake's time regardless if their reaction times are included. The difference between their wind speeds had a about an equal affect on time adjustment as the difference between their reaction times. They basically canceled each other, making Bolt's race still the faster effort.

In all the sprint races they time the first half of the race, once you have that time, what’s left is the second split and simple math to get the second half time for the race. Taking in account physics, speed is not constant in humans. Theoretically, a human decreases in acceleration towards the end of a race and the best attain top speed at about 30 meters and can only maintain to about 60 to 70 meters. So the longer you can maintain top speed, the faster your finishing time will be. The sprint races are in two phases, the first part is acceleration and the second part is maintaining momentum. Amazingly, Bolt, later in his career and Xavier (X Man) in this race was able to maintain his speed when he was supposed to be slowing down and that’s called a “negative split” when you run the second part faster than the first and 9.92...that is amazing even with momentum helping.

Well just take into account that he was already up to speed , so it's one amazing time ... But can't be compared to Usain's record ... Because Usain still had to accelerate from 0 to his speed and get that time
@babbsiscool
@babbsiscool 4 жыл бұрын
The video is comparing the last 100m in each of their 200m prs which incidentally is tied at 9.2 seconds. He is not comparing the time to Usain’s 100 meter record of 9.58 seconds.

Bob Hayes ran 8.5 second 100m in the semi final of the 1964 Olympic games 4x100m relay Its the fastest time of all time over 100m distance including the closing 50. Bolts best was 8.65. Hayes was capable of a 9.4 s 100m but never ran on a modern track which makes his 8.5 relay split even more impressive. He also ran faster than Bolt in the final of the relay with 8.6s It would be great if this channel could do a feature video about Bob Hayes

Bob Hayes' time was actually 8.74 seconds electronic timing. That 8.5 was hand-timed.

@@andrewryan9087 Relay splits are faster than a 100m flat, because of the standing start. Relay 100m splits are regularly under 9s.

No one accelerates in the closing stages of a sprint race, everyone decelerates. Carter just decelerated much less than anyone else in that race, like Carl Lewis and FloJo.
