Good analysis! I'm wondering what differences would arise with curved top hawks with sharpened top edges like the CRKT Kangee and similar designs.

What about the crtk hawk with a curved edge across the top. They say the hawk was banned in warfare because it is cruel? Which makes no sense. I used a hawk in 1981 as a tool and weapon. I prefare a hawk where the head passes through the material without the material hitting the handle,

That one is interesting - it looks curved at the top, but the slope is more towards the back, so its indexing capabilities are limited. Also, because it’s an edge, it doesn’t capture the way the RnD does. Still good in many ways, but it has a different purpose.
