That’s so cool! Finding a platypus in the wild is definitely not something you see every day. On my first trip to Australia, we’d see little plush versions of Australia’s famous animals. Kangaroos, koalas, dingoes, platypuses, and one spiny little creature I couldn’t identify. Finally, we asked a store clerk what the porcupine-looking animal was. He said the name, but his heavy Australian accent made it difficult to understand what he was saying. After repeating it a couple of times, he said it slowly to us. "Ehhhh…keeeed….nuhhh." We still didn’t know what that was. Finally, we found a children’s book on Australian wildlife and we learned all about echidnas. (This was before smartphones, so we couldn’t look them up that way.) I’ve always been fascinated by the platypus, but the echidna became my favorite animal on that trip.

The zoo keeper's name even had to do with a platypus. It was Bill Webfoot and he worked at the Brisbane zoo. I wonder where he works now? I wonder if he remembers me? Cause maybe I could call him back. Just to check in and of course ask him if he's ever heard of you Jack. If not I'll recommend you to him. Just my normal habit Jack. It's what I like to do.
