I have made this base on every game I have played, the only difference is I make my entrance and exit separate since I make my mine and base underground when it not horde night. I use a hatch elevator to get there from the base and a drop shaft hay bale to get back down. I also have another tunnel entrance/exit further away with a shed type structure to park the mini bike in. Zombies ignore the shed so no problems there. Great tutorial I'm glad to see it is being used.

Solid build, I made this in my console random gen world and its held its own against hordes (I also play with the feral setting turned on so there’s random running mini hordes. Then I just haul ass and jump into this base when I see them coming and I feel safe again lol

Is this better on console or PC can't decide which one to get

This is a console horse base. I’ve never played the PC version so I’m not sure if this base would work for it or not. I know the zombies path a little differently in the PC version. Maybe create another world and test it so it’s not on your main save! :)

Sorry if you’re asking which version of the game to get it’s totally up to you! PC is definitely going to have better graphics and there’s a lot more to do but I know a lot of people have said the current alpha isn’t really fun and most people play mods. I really enjoy the console version though!

@JonTheCobraCrosby PC version yes! Console version is an old port of Alpha 15 of the game (They’re currently on alpha 21). Console doesn’t receive any updates because the old developers went bankrupt. The Fun Pimps are working on a new version for consoles though that will release later this year when alpha 22 comes out for PC and that will be updated alongside the PC version!

Thanks for the video. I can't seem to find the cone spikes? I saw they removed a version of them in A18, but you have them just 5 months ago haha. Am I missing something? TIA

No problem! So this was a video for the old legacy version of the game which was actually A15 so that’s why the cone spikes are still here. I believe you are right that they were removed in alpha 18

Great horde base. I use it. Those blocks are 1500 dura and can be made day 1. Get a cement mixer to upgrade it to 3000 dura and then 6000 dura on 2nd cement upgrade.
@MeleeDamage15
@MeleeDamage15 11 ай бұрын
Yes! That’s why I do cobblestone first. Straight upgrade to cement! The wood route is so expensive on iron which can be used for other crafts. :)

This is nearly the exact base design I got off a very old KZbin video from the original creator of this design... I wish I could remember their channel name so I could give them credit for this creative design. In any case, you really did cover most of the important design features of this base, but you would not be 100% safe with this particular design you created in the higher horde stages, especially if you did not upgrade the cobblestone material to steel and especially not in Insane Mode, which is the mode I play in. You should use the 50 pillars on the corners instead of concrete square blocks so you can hit zombies in the corners and avoid the blind spot square blocks give you, which will increase damage to the corner blocks and you should orient the traversing poles so that the green outlines of the block point towards the inside of the base and not the outside, with the wedges still below them (the 50 corner pillar should actually fall slightly behind the traversing poles and not be in front)... which does two things for you... First, it allows you to easily collect loot from dead zombies even after their bodies turn into carcasses right in front of your lower defense pole, otherwise, if you point the green outline towards the outside of the base as you did, the body and carcass will simply despawn and you will very likely miss out on collecting loot and other resources. Secondly, when the zombies turn into carcass right in front of your lower pole, those carcasses provide added protection to your lower poles, which still get damaged in spite of the wedge blocks beneath them, and they keep zombies at a distance which makes them far easier to kill with melee weapons than when they stand right infront of your pole, and any zombies which climb on top can also be easily killed by striking their legs until they either break or they kneel and you can finish them off with a head strike. Cops are the biggest threat of damage and those carcasses also help decrease explosion damage, should any cop explode in front of your wall. Ground spikes are unecessary and actually should be unwanted in my personal opinion since they steal kills you can use to level up and add a lot of repairs and waste of resources. Lastly, using inverted ramp blocks, one block above your roof instead of plain blocks or iron bars is a better way to both protect your base from spider zombies (not spider monkeys lol) and still have a way to shoot down at the area below, in front of your base walls. Wish you could see my design and see it at work so you could get the entire picture of how well it works and all the benefits it brings on horde nights. I've already reached the highest level, completed all the trophies, maxed out all perks and I'm currently playing on day 2505 in an Insane Mode random map using this design on multiple bases and it works flawlessly. Too bad it doesn't work on PC and probably will not work on the new console version of 7d2d that is about to release.

Yeah mine was inspired by Naturalborn NZ but I know he wasn’t the original creator cause he said he got his from someone as well but I dont remember the name either. And yeah your version sounds sweet man! Thanks for the tips! :)

@MeleeDamage15 Yeah, I'm actually going to try and find that original video to recall who the creator of the design was and to save it to my playlist. I don't know why I didn't save the video before, but part of that was because someone else had a video with a slightly better setup and description of the base build, which is more like the base build I use today, like the one I described in my previous comment... although my comment also includes a couple of improvements I came up with on my own. This type of base build was and is still a game changer in the early console mode though regardless of any slight differences they might have. Thanks for the reply man!

Nice base nice video. Fully redundant and not required. Wed tips first layer and plates next three layers with hatches on each side for entry and exit. Upgrade as you progress in the game. No pillars required. Dig the idea tho.

I sometime build a base like this, but I prefer more of an aerial base. I did once copied the version NaturalbornNZ build in one of hie last play through. Few things I would definitely do different: 1. I don’t see the point in making the whole floor in cobblestone. If you’re low on resources early in the game, you could even just leave it as it is (just grassy ground. Me, I just go for wooden blocks, 1 upgrade is sufficient. 2. I never understood why you’d go 3 poles high. I do 2 high, than go full blocks.🤷🏻‍♂️ 3. The rows of spikes outside the base, I dig down 1 block en place upsides down spikes.😎
@MeleeDamage15
@MeleeDamage15 11 ай бұрын
Aerial bases are so cool! I’ll definitely have to try one at one point. And yeah the whole point was just continuity on why I made it cobblestone. I’m going to do wood flooring on my let’s play version too. I never leave it grass though. Just looks trashy to me 😂 and the 3 poles high is just a preference thing but you can totally get by with 2! I just like the 3 height thing so there’s more space overhead. Don’t like feeling cramped 😁
@Henry0870
@Henry0870 11 ай бұрын
@@MeleeDamage15 1 wedge tip + 2 poles makes 3 block height, that’s enough for me. And technically, you don’t even need a roof, there’s no birds/vultures in this version. Still I would just go for wooden blocks. I normally use my roof as a garden.
@GTSN38
@GTSN38 10 ай бұрын
You don't need the pillars, they just get in the way and spider monkeys can climb them. Don't really need a foundation either, but it looks nicer. I place 2 of the poles vertically instead of horizontal on the second row so I have an easy way in and out, it's almost impossible for zombies to get in through them.
@MeleeDamage15
@MeleeDamage15 10 ай бұрын
That’s exactly the reason I put them :) I put the spikes on the sides so when the spider zombies climb them they get damaged. Then the iron bars stop them from reaching the top and they stay getting damaged. I don’t even need to do much to kill them :) as for the vertical pillars that’s a good idea! Wouldn’t have thought about that. Can you clear that just by jumping or do you need a block?
@GTSN38
@GTSN38 10 ай бұрын
@MeleeDamage15 you can clear it, but it's best to have a plate on the inside, the outside will have the wedge tip so that raises you up a bit.

I feel for you man! I’ve heard about that MD5 glitch happening. It’s never happened to me but I know most people say to make sure to have a back up save and then to make sure to carve up the zombie gore blocks to reduce that happening. Also when you close out the game make sure you quit it out completely before shutting your system off. Sorry about that!
@Rufus_West
@Rufus_West 11 ай бұрын
MD5 bug. When your game crashes, the console creates a save. This is when there's a chance to get this bug. When you crash, go to manage game and DELETE your local save for that account from Console Only. This leaves the last Cloud Save for your game to reload from. You may lose a few minutes progress (up to 20-30 minutes) but it beats losing weeks of game progression. I do it on every crash and haven't lost more than 1 minute. I hope this helps.

@@treywilliams5400No, sadly enough not possible…. I’ve been playing since mid May last year. Got hit 4 times. First time I only lost a 2 by 6 block in the corner of my base, lost 2 cement mixers and all small bit of storage. Other time I build a base in the middle of a desert, just before day 21 horde I was left with just 1 back wall, 1 minibike and the 💩 I was carrying……. Important rule is to never just load the game back up after it crashes. I only do that if I’m far away from my base, otherwise I first delete my local save file.

There’s multiple ways you can! In the video I explained that the most common are either a tunnel from where the ladder is but go down instead and tunnel out of the base and back up on the outside so you can get in and out. Or you can build a ramp up to the top and get in that way. Up to you!
