Not being able to have a big bore gun myself, it was really nice to see you go through a range of your own guns and tell about what you like about each and where it fits into your hunting spectrum. I will definitely look out for and look forward to any more of your "show and tell" videos. Thank you for the enlightening entertainment.

Impressive collection of large calibres, even in a period of thirty years. Most will probably favor the Zeus (men always want the biggest) but I prefer the Bushbuck and the PBBA. Your wife probably says, "What am I wearing today?" You have the problem of "which riffle am I taking out today"? Life is sometimes complicated.

Wow 😲 that's some great rifles there Jim,I didn't realize the power would be up in the 1500 ft lb range with the longer barrel that's amazing, but personally I can see why you like the Hatsan with the barrel cut, it looks like it's rugged well made with plenty of power for most quarry and a reasonable price seems like a winner to me thanks for sharing ATB Dave

Great video Jim. It's eye watering when you talk about the unbelievable foot poundage you have out of these big bore rifles. As a UK air gunner we can only ever dream about what other countries can use. It would be interesting and nice to see what scopes you are using on your air rifles, especially your springers. Your springer collection would also be a video to see. Keep them coming, I always enjoy your interest and knowledge. 👍

I’m a big fan of the Texan rifles. The .308 is my first & only big bore. I chose it as I thought it would check a lot of boxes for me. 1st - accuracy - my goal was sub 2-MOA out to 200 yds 2nd - power - I wanted greater than 250 FPE 3rd - well built with good warranty. (Limited life time) 4th - ammo had to be readily available and plenty of molds so I could cast my own bullets 5th - have the feel of a real firearm 6 - operate on less than 4KPSI - easier to support at the range from a standard 4500 psi bottle The rifle is golf ball accurate at 100 yds. Will make over 275 FPE stock and has been bullet proof! I’ve shot almost exclusively my own cast bullets for the last 12 months and the rifle has met the above goals using my own ammo. My rifle likes Lee 113, 120 & 180 grain molds. The 3 bullets will meet or exceed my 2 MOA goal. If your considering a Texan, I have nothing bad to say about the rifle at all. It’s been bullet proof over the last 18 months & I shoot it almost weekly. Videos on my channel.

Thanks Shawn, appreciate the comment. The one stock on the Quackenbush, Dennis selected the wood, and the checkering was done by a woman that I think had worked for Winchester (maybe it was Remmington) doing their stocks. The one on the badger I am proud of because I put a lot of work into that one.

I have set these two guns up differently over the course of their lives, but as they currently stand the .308 is generating about 160 fpe, and the .452 is generating about 350 fpe. The .308 is primarily used for predator hunting and the .452 for deer and hog.

It does, especially when the shot placement is lower. You don't get that offside spray of blood seen with a centerfire, but quite good for an air rifle.

My choice is Aea challenger elite bull pup .50 caliber or Aea Zeus .72 caliber.so out of this which I should go for.and Aea Zeus I choose 16 inch or 24 inch.please let me know which is best out this and why. My purpose is for hunting wild bore and deer. Note.:Aea challenger elite 50 cal has 6 rounds while Zeus only 1. On fps both same according to two barrel length of Zeus16 inch and 24 inch.so please let me your expert suggestion. Last if you compare Aea challenger elite .bullpup 50 cal with Aea challenger .50 caliber bullpup .out of this also which is best. Wait your reply sir.

I know some guys who like the .357 Recluse for hog hunting but they will not let you hunt deer in Texas with it. I have been thinking of getting the Recluse or the AEA .30 cal.
@americanairgunhunter
@americanairgunhunter Жыл бұрын
I had my Recluse tuned to produce 215 fpe, which is the minimum for deer in Texas. Check with Pyramyd as they are doing a power tune package for these guns, not sure if theyre getting the power for the .357, but for the Light Hunter and dragon Claw hey are for sure.

If you were going to hunt coyotes only and want to have the flattest trajectory for called in dogs. What caliber? 257 Air Force Texan is what I leaning towards. I want to shoot slugs in whatever caliber I get. Thanks for the advice
@americanairgunhunter
@americanairgunhunter 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan; the AirForce is a great choice and for me it would come down between the .257 or .308. I have both, and probably my preference is the .308. It is fairly flat shooting, hits hard, lot of ammunition available, and it's good for hogs as well. But if you are focusing in coyote, the .257 is an strong choice.
@jonathanwren6409
@jonathanwren6409 2 жыл бұрын
I was originally wanting the 308 because of pigs. We don’t have pigs around where I live in Oklahoma but I can try 2 hours and be in them. Always been a fan of 257 cal. Who’s got the best cast bullet to use. Someone told me the 257 was designed around the 70gr, is that a correct? Thanks for your time.

Airguns in general are heavy guns anymore. Why do companies feel that they have to be built so heavy? Your pressure levels are but a fraction of the levels even of the .22 lr! I understand the tanks being heavy, as even the antiques had heavy tanks, but the actions themselves seem more substantial than need be for a quick burst of 4500 psi!

i sure wish airforce would come out with a multi shot, whats the deal with american made manafactures getting left behind in affordable big bore multi shot rifles, i dont understand how stagnant the american companies are in innovation, benjamin still hasnt come out with anything other than the tremendously ugly bull dog, airforce still single shot, everyone else is way over priced for the average buyer/shooter, ive been extremely impressed with AEA's lineup of affordable, good looking big bores, american companies take note.
