I'm actually really excited to check out this book. Especially since bulimia is discussed. I think it is very specific, definitely different than other EDs. I cant help but think that there's more to it than what i generally have found while researching. So it will be refreshing to see his perspective.

What has been your experience of receiving IFS and what did it do to your own trauma? generally and versus other modalities

I was actually reluctant to IFS at the start. I liked the model, just didn’t seem to gel with it experientially though. Over time as I kept learning and practising the experience was… pretty incredible to be honest. Although it can sound outlandish, I’ve found that the power so far has been being able to find parts of my younger self that have been wounded in the past and actually listen to them and offer them what they’ve needed to let go of their heavy burdens (protecting me). As for vs other modalities, I respect other healing modalities, different people need different things. I’ve often found that the other trauma healing I’ve had hasn’t actually been very healing though… it can definitely release some level of fear and tension in the moment, sure. But alas, the psyche endures, as do these parts (providing they’re still burdened with protecting us). So IFS has given me more of a sense of feeling secure with my inner system and being able to recognise that a part is in pain, rather than just freaking out (although I do still freak out at times). It’s been powerful. Have you had experience with IFS before?
