i believe caulksteins weapon is known as a sidesword, it's in between a medieval arming sword and a rapier, leaning more troward arming sword. It was actually less a dueling thing and more a military thing during the renaissance/early modern era, but nobody really knows about that period of warfare because they don't care about the 30 years war(even though they should it's basically knights with guns it's rad)

It's specifically a schiavona. Its a relatively arming-sword like blade with a basket hilt that allows fingering the ricasso and a cat's head pommel. It traces its origins to dalmatian arming swords, and it was first popularised in Venice through Dalmatian mercenaries.

Kalkstein swords is also Rapier but earlier type that could be called a military rapier, or eventually a side sword if you don't want to call it a rapier BTW great vid

It's an early basket-hilt "broadsword" (broad as opposed to the thinner rapier), sometimes called a mortuary sword; basically a side-sword with a complex hilt that retains a good cut and thrust ability instead of specializing in thrusting like its half-sister the rapier. One could call it an sword for people who really like their hands.

Kalkstein uses a schiavona. They were famous in Venice, purportedly used by soldiers recruited from Slavic countries. It’s famous for its square “cat’s head” pommel and diagonal orientation of bars in the basket-hilt. Calling it a broadsword or sidesword would be an anachronism. I’d just say “basket-hilted” sword.

Getting VR set up every time you want to play is one of its biggest pain points and probably the reason why most people don't tend to pick it up very often (including me and my family with the quest 2 we bought a while ago). It's a unique experience and VR videos are very fun to watch though so it'd probably be worth it for you. The new meta Quest 3 is apparently a pretty promising pick when it comes to PCVR right now, especially since it's still wireless but has nicer lenses and is lighter than the older model.

700 hours Blade and Sorcery Player here. Buy the Game. Dont get a quest, half the mods wont be available. Get a PC connected VR headset, like the index. You wont regret it.

Blade and sorcery is soooo fun. There's even a mod called the medieval weapons mod pack with hundreds of weapons to choose from. My favorite weapon is the executioners great sword.

This has been a game I’ve had my eyes on for awhile, but I’ve avoided it for awhile because I’ve heard the AI isn’t very good, and there isn’t online matchmaking from my understanding. As for Blade And Sorcery, as someone who’s got a VR headset, the physics are good, but the AI is so piss poor that I find it boring as hell. I get why it got so popular, but physics based combat isn’t ready for VR yet.

I'm an american and this is NOT right, I always carry a Wakizashi with me and my uncle calls me the sword guy. I protect my city and my very little friends, but I am a wolf that's the reason why I protect my pack, so yeah. you would NOT beat me in a sword fight. I am a black belt and learned karate while watching anime, one i was sorrounded by 5 yakuza thugs but they had not realised I was the wrong guy. I killed them all with my Wakizashi using japanese techniques. so stfu the next time you say something
