With manual catch, press up with your back foot stick to catch back foot, press down on front foot stick to catch front foot. The glitchy landing is because your landing in a "manual" even though you let go. If you want to land in manuals or nose/5-0s just do the normal input. I don't think it works or looks as good in goofy either.

What helped me out with manual catch was lowering my flip and scoop 3-4 ticks and try to do really slow motions on joystick to get slow flips, now that I've gotten "used" to it I'm back at my normal flip/scoop speed. The feeling of catching something with the appropriate foot when you're just flowing around landing trick after trick feels amazing.

to catch: back foot stick UP to catch with back foot, front foot stick Down to catch with front foot ( press both at the same time if you want to catch with both feet) you can catch the board flicking the sticks in any direction BUT for times when you want to land in.. lets say Manual, youll catch with back foot half way down ( you dont need to catch then input for manual, you catch with the manuals input) same for a 5-0, you'll catch with back foot Down and hold it while you get into 5-0. so thats why when you catch with back foot Down on flat, you land a bit weird. pushing the back foot down to catch with back foot will make you land heavily on the back and youll do a small manual. same goes for Up on front foot. so, when on flat, back foot up, or front foot down. when getting into manuals, grinds or slides - catch with the grind, slide or manual's input. if you want to kickflip shifty you can catch with a stick to the left or right :P

Next time you try Manual Catch, drop your Flip Speed (in advanced Settings) to 4 or 5. Should help get rid of the double flips. OR use directional for Flip Settings instead of input Speed (in flip trick settings)

Garrett's Help Desk: Manual Catch Crash Course - If you're catching a trick flick your catching foot towards the middle of the board. The direction does not change until you land the trick. What that means is if you're doing a BS flip you still flick up on the back foot. You were right when you said that flicking quicker made the catch better. If you hold the catch you tweak the board which can be cool if you want to steeze out your tricks. This is the same mechanic as flipping into grinds. If anyone has more specific questions I'm happy to answer whatever.
@logarhythmic68592 жыл бұрын
Just catch by moving whichever foot to the inside (away from the nose/tail). I also changed my settings to slow down flip tricks to avoid the double flips.
@thatpepper17852 жыл бұрын
So my advise, if you don’t wanna catch it in a manual, flick it the opposite direction of the manual input If you do want to manual, catch it with a manual input
@thatpepper17852 жыл бұрын
So for example, Garrett being goofy If you don’t want a manual, flick a kickflip UP on the left stick to catch. If you want a manual, flick DOWN on the left stick to do the manual input
@thatpepper17852 жыл бұрын
With grinds and ONLY grinds You catch the board with the input you would do for a grind So a kickflip fs smith, you would do the kickflip, but to catch the board and do a smith, you would just apply the sticks to however you do a smith (for me it’s BACK FOOT down, FRONT FOOT tweaked to the right) I skate regular in Session, you can apply this to what your stance is IN ANY STANCE
@alexmullis62 жыл бұрын
It's really just putting your hands to mimic what your feet and mind know in real life. And for the 360flips, you want to pull down the front foot joystick. To catch with your front foot and get the Steezie style.
@ryanrowe19752 жыл бұрын
Nice manual balance and a great intensity of a timing to executing the right movement of a successful manual.
@alexmullis62 жыл бұрын
The left foot right foot setting to Manuel catch are really realistic and easy once you understand. But think about when you do a Kickflip and you bring your back foot up and slide it forward to put back on the board. That's exactly what you do with the joysticks. The left stick for goofy(back foot) would slide upwards to catch moving your foot forward. And pulling it down usually results in late back one foot landings.
@tomagee4202 жыл бұрын
unless you want to catch using your back foot into a grind that puts most weight on your front foot or vise versa, your catching foot input can also be your grind weight foot input. Eg catch with the front foot flicking up and hold it to flip into a grind with your front foot weight, like a nose grind or crooked.
@lostworldofjj2 жыл бұрын
maybe turn the flip speed up aloooot like i did because iam someone that flicks the sticks reaaaaal fast so when the board also flips faster it makes you catch it better like 1 or 2 notches

Pro tip: lowering you’re flip speed will help prevent double flips, over rotation etc... I believe you can also mirror the input so that the stick input required to catch the board isn’t affected by body rotation, by that I mean your back foot will always be your right joystick even while switch and vice verse, hope this helps! (UPDATE: just saw that JL nightmare already covered this in the comments)

naw this is wrong. input to catch towards the middle of the board, not the nose/tail. you can input to the nose and tail if you wanna catch into manual but if you dont get the manual you will experience the "bounce glitch" when you land fairly often. the bounce glitch only happens when you catch the board the wrong direction onto flat tho and it doesnt happen all the time.

I have saw you mention before about falling when not catching. I have never understood that lol. How often do you fall on flat when you don't catch a trick? Some variety would be good where you sometimes try to stick it and land upside down and bail etc but just bailing from missing a catch doesn't make sense imo. I love the way sessions failed catch works.

I'm having this issue now, Session when played fully manually gives a difficulty level that doesn't really provides a satisfaction level that matches the effort needed to perfectly execute complex lines. Nor it provides a "realistic" look or a "personalized" style for your virtual skater by having "enhance" control over rotation timing and manual catches. It just makes everything more clunky and overly complicated, then you'll find yourself spending over 20 minutes on a line that It may not look right (Specially because you sorta need to hide all the clipping issues with proper camera angles...) Any thoughts?
@stitched_2 жыл бұрын
It just takes some serious time and effort, it's like irl skating where you have to try super hard over lots of time to feel comfortable and to get better. Eventually manual catch becomes second nature and you will have a much easier time trying lines and flowing around, just keep at it

@kingraptor112 жыл бұрын
For me, session catch is good, and the angles mean you can add rotation and shift, BUT Session's trick input just isnt reliable AT ALL. You can do a really slow kickflip and your board will go at rocket speed, then you can try do a fast heel and the board will glitch and go snail slow. So you will never really get comfortable with it. I spent a long time learning session manual catch, got good at it. Then one day tried auto and just went straaight back to auto. I'm all for the realism but when stuff is going wrong when you did the right thing is when it's no longer enjoyable
@Hunne23032 жыл бұрын
Same for me. I guess you´d need to fiddle about with the stats to get it working smoothly...then again, landing on a rail in a 50-50, doing the proper inputs and all I get is a floaty something that does not even register (can be reproduced)...those controlls are still bugged a lot

I dislike the manual catch for flatground in session. IT just doesn't feel organic, list like the reverts. Skater XL does it much better. And for grind/manual combos you don't have to do any extra manual input because the input of the grind/manual will make you land it. Which feels lackluster. It does never feels rewarding, like in skater xl when you get to manual catch and get good at it, it feels really good. For now I'm leaving it up until they hopefully innovate a bit on that feature. THAT SAID. Overall I feel Session feels a lot better than SXL right now! And I cannot WAIT for the transition update, I really hope it's better than SXL transition, or any transition of other skate games... I want to blunt to fakie and have it feel amazing!
