The Most Ridiculous Diplomacy Game

Yeah... I don't know what to say about this one.
This game was part of the Meta AI Tournament, so this is technically a Battle for Humanity episode.
Diplomacy is a negotiation-based board game set during World War One. 7 players each control one great power (England, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Russia, and Turkey) and fight for control of Europe, using their diplomatic skill to make covert deals with one another and to backstab their friends.

The foreshadowing around 29 and a half minutes in where France disbands F Por and you say how it's kind of weird disband to make and Ezio says something like "well maybe you and Italy will just bounce in Portugal, like, forever", and you say "I wonder if that might happen" viewing this for the first time I had no idea what was about to go down, it's really so perfect!

Given that the bot was trained playing against bots, it’s possible the weird start was because “borrowing” Vienna for a fleet to march on France is a normal thing it developed, like borrowing Trieste.

I think it's very unlikely we ever continue this series - I really consider the Diplodocus video to be the finale of these, even though it doesn't go into anywhere near as much depth. We started this during a bit of a drought in games to cover, but then I went to work on Cicero and I was under NDA for a while so couldn't continue it, and by the time that expired we had a lot more to cover. Sorry about that :(

At 54:06, you get pushed out of Moscow, but I don't understand why that happened. I would have expected that your attack into Ukraine would have cancelled the support attack. Can you explain?

There's a special rule for this - a unit can't cut support against itself unless it actually dislodges the supporting unit. So since Ukr's support is against Moscow, Mos-Ukr doesn't cut it.

How does civil disorder work? What triggers it?

On webDiplomacy, if you fail to enter orders in time, you trigger an Excused Missed Turn and the phase extends. If you use up all of your EMTs, then you get booted out of the game, and your country enters all holds until someone else takes over - that's called Civil Disorder.
