I taught high school a few years ago and heard one of my students call me a “stupid bit*h” under her breath. I said, “that will be a referral for you!” Her mom called me after school. I was fully prepared for her to say that he daughter never said such a thing. Mom was just calling to tell me that her daughter would be at my service after school each day for however long I needed her. She said, “if you need a toilet cleaned in the teachers lounge, make her do it!” Lol!! Some parents are awesome!

My school in Queensland, Australia, has a very clear stipulation in our "Responsible Use of Technology" policy that states, extremely clearly, STUDENTS MAY NOT CHARGE THEIR PHONES USING SCHOOL POWER

My 6th graders think that having their phones on silent is OFF. We went around about it last time there was a statewide alert that went out on the phones. They insisted the alert would sound even if their phones were off, but I'm guessing their phones are never actually OFF. @@mallisaunders4565

Not because of the alleged satanic possession, but because "my child is demonically possessed" has been used as an excuse for extremely serious child abuse. I mean, like LIFE THREATENING child abuse.

For the past several years, I have been teaching in an alternative education setting for high school students who are behind in credits and are discipline problems. These kids' parents don't ask the crazy stuff - it was the parents at the middle school where I worked for a few years in a high socioeconomic neighborhood! I was teaching honors 8th grade history and 7th grade history. I had a parent call and ask if I could pass her daughter (who had a ZERO in the class along with a few other classes) so she could play soccer because that was all she liked to do. Didn't I know it since that child had not done one assignment the entire semester?!?! All she did was play with her hair and chat with everyone. Needless to say, that girl did not play soccer that year.

I worked at an alternative high school (teacher's side). I did see a couple in my 10 yr stint. Best one, we had a mom who was impossible to reach regarding her son's absence from school which was at 85%. Come near the end of the year, the teacher, myself and the student reach an agreement that if he attends school for 4 weeks with no absences, he can go to the end of the year trip. This trip was fully paid through fundraising and a school board grant. Keep in mind our program was 4 days/ week. This kid comes for 2 weeks straight then boom no where to be seen for a week and half. It is the week before the trip and he comes limping in. He "injured" his foot and he needed the trip form (that his classmates got the day before). My teacher was gone for the day training. Another staff, as she was coming back from the post office on lunch, saw him walking normally down the street until he was on the school grounds, so I knew his story was BS. So I tell him no, I am not giving you the form, you knew what the deal was, and your parent didn't call, you don't have a doctor's note. Next thing the mother, who never returned my or my teacher's call all year is on the phone screaming at me. I say "How lovely to hear your voice not a recording! And I repeat, no call, no doctor's note". She said fine, she will get the doctor to fax a note, just give him the form. I said no note, no form. Wait for an hour, no note. She calls and says the doctor's office is closed, can they just send one Monday. I say funny thing, I called the doctor's office to give them our fax number, they seemed very open. She slams the phone. Several minutes later our principal calls (we were a multi-campus school). I discuss everything and he is aware of the student's 85% absenteeism, he agrees with my decision. Later we find out she called the school board.

I work with Infants and Toddlers and I had a parent bring her daughter in dressed in a new white down jacket in the middle of snow thaw. She asked me not to let her daughter get it dirty. I reminded the mother that it was her responsibility to bring her child in clothing that her child could play in without the fear of messy play, and asked if she had brought and alternative outdoor gear. She said no, but said that she would return with some. I called her twice, and neither time she answered, so her daughter went outside in the white jacket. And by the end of the day, you guessed it! It wasn't white anymore and basically was ruined. The mother demanded that I replace it or reimburse her the $200 she spent on the jacket. I told her I wouldn't, pulled out my policy book and reminded her of the signed document acknowledging her responsibility to provide appropriate outdoor gear, and my lack of liability. She shut up quick after that, and her child never wore anything white to daycare ever again!

I don't understand that. I'm the ultimate authority for my kids as their parent (and have had to explain that to a few teachers and staff over the years) but I make it clear to my kids that when they're in a classroom, the teacher is the adult and they're to be respectful and do what they're told. I recently had a teacher call me bc my oldest bonus kid was being rude and disobedient. She was nearly in tears when I said "how can we help you make sure this doesn't happen again?" I'll be damned if *my* kids are the problem.

The teacher who addresses us on you tube is hilarious. I agree whole heartedly with her comments. I was fed up with pur public school system, so I decided to home school all three of my sons. One day my son decided that he did not want to get out of bed for school, so I told him to get out of bed or I would drag him out into the dining room in his underwear. He was eleven and copping an attitude, he dared me to do it,so I pulled off the covers and dragged him by the arm into the dining room for schooling. Needless to say he never challenged me again. He had to sit all day in his underwear and do all of his schooling. I am now proud to say my son is 39yrs old,well adjusted, and has a very good job. Moral of this story, never challenge mamma bear because mamma bear always wins. We still to this day talk about it and share a good laugh together.

My son told me, “I’m not getting dressed for school, and you can’t make me!” I snatched up his clothes, marched him to the van, and threw him and his clothes into the back seat. “You can get dressed on the way to school, or wait and change there. I was waiting my turn to talk to the teacher last year and heard the teacher mention to another mother that the boy's "hinky" haircut was causing him anxiety and the teacher agreed with the boy that it's not appealing. And that the child is bullied because of the hack job the boy's parents had done to his head. I looked at the boy's head and was like "yeah, I'd like to take offense to the teacher insulting this child's hair but damn, it's a hot mess. He got long spots over bald spots, his hairline and neck have done some parts shaved and some patches of random hair, etc. The boy's mother said "well, I can't take him to the barber every time he needs a trim! I did the best I could. You want his hair fixed you take his little ass to the barber then!" To my utter surprise, the teacher said "I'll have Saturday free. Would you like me to pick him up at home? What tine is good for you?" Followed by asking the child if he would be willing to go with him to get his hair cut.

Some had very sad stories, one poor child was being raised by his aunt. That child committed suicide only a few years after she taught him. He was not even 10 years old.

At Back to School Night, I had a parent tell me to give him my lesson plans two weeks in advance so he could approve them. I actually laughed until I realized he was serious. I told him, no sir, my administrators approve my plans and the state standards are public online. He was appalled and incensed that I told him no. He said he’d go to the district office. I gave him the Superintendent’s name and contact information and wished him a good evening. Never heard from him again and his daughter was a dream in class. Jerk.

My school announced that parents could come in just before the start of school to review the curriculum and "approve ' the materials the teachers would use the whole year. No materials were to be used unless approved by the district.. and parents. Apparently they dropped that idea.. wonder why?!

A parent asked what time staff were at school. We asked why. She wanted to drop her child off early so they could go start food prep at their family restaurant early. When we told them no they tried to say it was so easy just give them an iPad and we wouldn't know they were there. They were again told no. Fast forward a week later and I heard crying outside the door. They left their kindergarten and third grade children alone, outside, in a rough neighborhood (check the playground for needles each morning), in the dark, at 7am!! Outdoor supervisors don't go out until 8:15am, school starts at 8:30am! I had actually gotten to work early that day. When confronted by the admin the parent's logic was she saw a cars in the parking lot so someone would have let them in. It was the custodian's car, who was busy with the loud floor cleaner, and mine who thankfully went to the classroom first.

To leave children that young in those circumstances is criminal. When I was in high school I'd get there really early because my dad would drop me off on his way to work. Otherwise, I'd have to walk. But that was HIGH SCHOOL!! The teacher responsible for the school canteen noticed me one day and gave me a job refilling the vending machines. I can still hear the sound of the soda cans rattling through the machine as I dropped them in the chutes.

Then they were dropped off and picked by an elderly auntie who didn't speak English. Neither of the parents came to any events or parent teacher nights while I was at the school.

2 quick ones - 1. A student was suspended for hitting me. He was already on probation, so his P.O. went to see the mother. The mother said her son told her that it didn’t leave a mark so she didn’t see what the big deal was. She didn’t deny that he hit me. She just thought I was being a baby. 2. A parent called me in tears. She wanted me to punish her son because he was making fun of her freckles. He kept saying that she had germs on her face. She tearfully told him that they were freckles not germs. She said she couldn’t get him to stop and she wanted me to do something about it.

This was so funny!!! I’ve got one from a long time ago. I’m a homeschool mom and one day a public school kid (neighbor), carrying her algebra book, let me know she was there for free tutoring since I was a teacher that was home all the time. She was serious. Umm sweetie pie. I teach my own 4 children, who are in 4 different grade levels at the same time for hours a day, and also cook dinner after it’s all over. I don’t have the time or the patience, especially if you’re not going to pay me. 😅

I was teaching a kids program at our zoo during spring break one time. When the parents signed them up they knew that the kids would have actively out in THE ZOO learning about the animals/vet center/horticulture/ etc and doing projects assigned by the keepers etc. One day we were with the elephants and they were supposed to make big like paper mache balls that could be filled with treats for enrichment, as well as helping prep some of the food. After the program ended that day Mom came in livid because her 10 year old "got dirty" and they were leaving to go straight from the zoo to a "fancy lunch".....

I had a parent ask me to teach her 15-year-old son how to count money. She even demanded it be put into his IEP. The student was functioning at grade level in Algebra 1 and Geometry. I set up a tutoring session and my first question to him was how he paid for things at the store. The student responded his parents will not let him have any money. 15 years old, and the student has never held money. This parent also asked the OT to teach him how to cut his meat because she was tired of doing it for him at dinner.

I just found this channel. I was a preschool teacher for 5 years and have worked in daycares and elementary schools for over 17 years. I almost owed my pants listening to this. Soooo true and funny at the same time. We become therapists, nurses , psychologists, “ moms”, caretakers and so much more for other people’s children. My mom taught high school math. Honors Algebra 1 and Geometry to 9th graders. She had a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force ask her to help his son increase his grades and work with him before and after school. (He was doing no work.) I teach elementary PE. Just recently had a parent call his 4th grade son over to the fence (while dad was already in line to pick him up after school). Asked him to ask me if he could go change his shirt at the end of class because he didn't want him stinking up the car after PE class..... Like I was going to stop class early for the other 45 students so his kid isn't stinky. Nope. Plus his son wasn't even leaving right away, he had tutoring for an hour.

At my school we have to hand in our phones at the first lesson, we get only them back at the end of the day or if we need to make an emergency call home. There is also a school rule that no chargers are to be plugged in at school

I teach high school English and I am the prom advisor. I had an 8th grade parent call a full meeting with me and admin because I refused to let her child be a server at prom. Now, mind you, this student missed an entire 3 months of school that was excused by the district and we had to exempt them from all work during that period of time. So, the child was not there and we had no idea when the child would be back when the prom committee chose servers. The child NEVER came to talk to me when they returned to school about being a server, AND I was also held responsible for comments made to the student from other students during passing periods even though the child had not set foot in my classroom once since they returned opting to complete English in the resource room for the rest of the year.

Had a student with 36 accommodations for ADHD. Met with mom who wanted to add 17 more, including a daily phone call, lesson plans provided a month in advance and tests to be sent home prior to taking them in class... worse part, mom was admin in another district

Parent is truly taking advantage of the SPED program. At that rate, it would be better to have the child stay at home and expect the child to learn than to waste the resources of the school system. It is obvious that there is no real expectation of the child becoming a real contributing citizen. As a parent and grandparent, who was ADHD before medication was used to make sure a student did their work and learn to try to control their behavior, I suggest that in addition to medication and multiple accommodations, the parents should insist that their child put more effort into learning and behaving. There are behavioral specialists that can work with the family to this end. I understand that we don’t want to use physical punishment on children but there are other ways to get the child to understand that more is required of them. Sometimes stating the situation in a way that leaves no alternatives will get the child to do better. It worked for my son who was diagnosed with ADHD, moderately severe. Making teachers the only person responsible for the child learning doesn’t seem to work and is not fair to the other 25 or more students in the classroom.

Right? But their parents will call and text them DURING CLASS, sometimes. Last year I had an 8th grader who I told to put his phone away, and he responded that his mom was texting him to come get him. I told him that when she got to school, the front office would call for him on the intercom. He had it out again a few minutes later, so I took it (which I rarely do, but sometimes I just can't deal anymore). Before the screen went dark, I saw he had texted his mom that I wouldn't dismiss him from class, and mom responded for him to tell me that he had already been called down to the office. Obviously they called him on the intercom a few minutes later, and I gave the phone back. But just knowing his mom KNEW he was in class, yet was not only texting him, but also telling him to LIE to me, just blew my mind! @@amylee8969

Most phones today allow at least 5 hours of talk time per charge so I don’t see why they are having a problem. If they have picked up the responsibility of keeping a phone, making certain it is charged is a part of the job. When I worked as a substitute teacher, the other problem is them not having a working chrome book because it is not charged. I then asked if they had a charge on their phone? 9 out of 10 times the phone is of course charged. My response is that if you can make sure your phone is charged then you should also make sure your chrome book is charged. I get some spaced out looks from the students then.

I taught middle school science and tried to do some sort of hands-on activity every day. A lot of preparation was required. We had a parent take their child to Disney World for 2 weeks. This was right after Christmas when it was "less crowded". The mother came to me afterward and asked when I was going to start staying after school to do the activities for her child. 😮 NEVER!

I had a parent who told me that I would have to deliver all the boxes of frozen cookie dough and frozen cheesecake items her daughter had sold for our school fundraiser, because she did not have time. Her daughter sold 137 items, btw!

I teach community college and am so glad I don’t have to deal with parents but I still deal with crazy. This semester I had a student come to class with no pants on, or anything else besides a long shirt that didn’t cover her butt. You just can’t make this stuff up
