I like how everyone has the same reaction to Azula’s defeat, we would’ve been satisfied to finally see Azula get what was coming to her. But when we see her wail in a complete emotional and mental breakdown, you can’t help but feel immense pity for her. You realize that she was the product of a horrible and abusive relationship with her father and you wished that for a moment Zuko and her sister could’ve came together as siblings and make things right.

This show has some of the most satisfying character arcs and plot of any show. The core tension of how does a pacifist stop a genocidal superpowered leader ACTUALLY RESOLVES in a satisfying way that stays true to the characters involved. There is so much growth of so many characters, redemption arcs, all of it.

I love that Ty Lee's reason for joining the circus was that she didn't want to be "part of a matched set" with her sisters; and now she's grown enough to join a group with a uniform aesthetic and not feel bad.

So Ty Lee left her home since she didn't want to be "part of a matched set" and didn't mind joining the Kyoshi Warriors because while the warriors looked like "part of a matched set" from the outside, the warriors themselves didn't see themselves as such. The Kyoshi Warriors still saw each other as individuals with personalities, desires, wants and needs. People can wear a uniform (aka Police, firefighters, Doctors etc.) and seem identical. That isn't the issue, the issue is when you are also stripped of your individuality, that is when you disappear as a person. That is when you are no longer "Ty Lee" but "quintoplet #4" and are irrelevant and almost worthless an a person.
@edgarretana8377

Important thing about Katara defeating Azula. As we all know, power in firebending comes from the breath. Katara knew this and took away Azula's ability to breathe, meaning she could keep her from bending and restrain her. Smart af.

Azula’s ending is always amazing but hard to watch. She’s been seen as either a monster or a tool by the adults that she wanted to care for her, had the expectation to be perfect all the time, and the unexpected burden of leadership all at the age of 14.

She really is a fascinating character. From the moment Ozai realized her potential, he shaped her to be his perfect little war machine. So much so that she never had a chance to grow in other vital areas, such as true friendship. As a result, putting her in any other situation than war or politics leaves her more useless than a salmon in the desert. You can actively see this in The Beach. She has no idea what to do with herself, and has to rely on mimicking Ty Lee.

Hair. Sleeves. Records. Naps. Long ago, the 3 bartenders lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Covid attacked. Several months have past and my brother and I discovered the new master of entertainment: a KZbinr named named Sean Tanktop. And although his reaction skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he’s ready to save anything. But I believe, Sean can save the world!

Katara's first battle with a firebender: hardly being able to create ice to freeze the soldier Katara's last battle with a firebender: completely freezes the opponent and used the opportunity to her advantage to chain them up Katara has come a long way...Sokka is lucky to have such a talented sister. A waterbending prodigy Had it not been for the popularity of Lord of the Rings, Nick wouldn't have asked Michael and Bryan to come up with an adventure series like this one. So not only do we have the creators to thank for this absolute masterpiece but also LOTR indirectly leading to its creation . The first episode titled The Boy in the Iceberg and the last titled Avatar Aang is a great way to summarize how Aang went from an all over the place childish boy to a fully realized Avatar. Doug may be the granddaddy of Nicktoons...but Avatar TLA is the DA VINCI of Nicktoons. This is evident by putting together the first and last words spoken in the series: It's perfect

so idk if anyone's clarified this yet, but the lion turtle didn't give him the *power* to take away bending, it gave him the *knowledge* that it was possible and how to do it. basically like he said, in a pre-elemental bending era of the world, really spiritual and gifted people were able to bend the energy (chi) within living things. energy (chi) is where the elemental bending abilities stem from and that can be seen throughout the show when Ty Lee, who is a chi blocker, can hit the correct pressure points and chakras to temporarily block her opponents chi (or stop their flow of energy). so by learning that energy bending was a thing from the lion turtle, aang thought to use it to bend osai's energy and permanently chi block him from ever FIRE bending again (and since he's not the avatar he can never bend/learn another element). some ppl think its a bit of a deus ex machina, but I'm okay with it because A) it makes sense and is consistent w the world building B) if any character's capable of having unbendable energy it would be aang bc his unwavering goodness and finally C) because it teaches a valuable life lesson to kids that it's ok to listen to wise advice from others but to stick to ur gut instinct and to stick to ur moral compass. loved ur reactions btw its been a beautiful journey

If Azula had had uncle Iroh's teachings, she would have been able to draw her fire breath and break free from the ice, just as Zuko did back in season 1. It's a nice detail that once again shows how different things could have been if Azula had a better influence/guide. The final Agni Kai hits so deep because, like the music score behind it, it's incredibly tragic. Two people from the same starting point, ending up on the opposite side. As amazing as Zuko is, and as masterful as his (redemption) story arc is, without uncle Iroh it never would have happened.

AtLA ended when I was 14; at 28, it remains one of the greatest shows that I've ever seen, and I've re-watched it at least once every few years since. I love watching people react to it - and my husband thinks I'm nuts - but to me, it's truly amazing to see how impactful and meaningful this show continues to be - I love being able to watch other people laugh, cry, and feel so excited about all of those great moments that touched me [insert dirty joke here]. It was great being able to watch it with all of you, and I can't wait to hear what you have to say about Korra. Thanks for the laughs, and the tears, and the company. It's been really fun.

I’ve never watched ATLA all the way before. It represented a time in my life when I was confused about myself and fell in love with the wrong man. Going back and watching the episodes and then immediately watching y’all’s reaction to the episode has been a means of me walking through some stuff I needed to walk through. It’s been rough since 2020 and I’m glad this show has helped y’all as y’all’s reactions have helped me deal with stuff when I’ve had a bad few years. Much love my friends.

Speaking of “a Glimmer (3:27)”, you should watch She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. Thanks for making these videos. I’ve very much enjoyed them and I love seeing full-ass adults crying at a show I’ve loved since I was ten; it really does hit harder as an adult. I found these reactions this winter in Chicago , which was very difficult for me because of covid, seasonal depression, and other personal issues I was grappling with, and I marathoned the videos you had released already to distract my anxiety and the week to week releases after that gave me a sense of stability, so thank you. And for the record, I very much loved the raunchy humor juxtaposed against children’s media.

I love Ty Lee being a kyoshi warrior cause it shows character growth for her more than just she has friends and is on the good side now. She struggled with her individuality, partially because she has ten sisters that look just like her. For her to find herself in a group of warriors who all dress the same probably wasn’t easy for her and the kyoshi warriors probably helped her through those insecurities by showing her that they are still individuals even if they dress the same as warriors and such. I really think she probably had some heart to hearts that would’ve been lovely to see.

I see a lot of people say that Azula wishes her mom loved her, but I think it’s more meant as Azula defined her entire view on love not being real in a way and told convinced herself no one truly ever loved her to prove it. So her mom loving her isn’t her want, it’s her greatest fear as it cracks her entire world view of fear controlling all.
