Well, what about "Jolrael, Empress of Beasts"? Why bother playing "Omnath, Locus of Rage" or "Titania", if you can spellshape into your army...or just animate any lands your opponents control at instant speed, if they threaten to play a boardwipe you don't want to see! Or what about some "Celestial Kirin" goodness, if you want to go down a true path of destruction!

im not sure if kci works with deathmantle and wormcoil. it looks like the deathmantle trigger gets missed if you let the tokens spawn before you reanimate wormcoil.

Troy Lambert You have to time Wurmcoil Engine correctly with the stack to get it working. First, you sacrifice the Wurmcoil Engine to KCI, which puts two "dies" triggers on the stack; the Deathmantle and Wurmcoil Engine itself. KCI is a mana ability, which means it doesn't use the stack. Place the Deathmantle trigger on the stack first and the Engine’s second. The first in, last out rules of the stack allow you to put Engine’s tokens into play before the Deathmantle’s “death” trigger resolves, this means you can sac the two wurm tokens Engine creates to KCI in order to pay for Nim Deathmantle. In total this process creates 6 colorless mana, 2 from Engine and 4 from Engine’s tokens. Use 4 of your 6 mana to pay for Deathmantle’s trigger and recur Wurmcoil Engine. Repeat this process and you’ll end up with infinite colorless mana. Once you’ve generated infinite colorless mana, you can start sacrificing Wurmcoil Engine and paying for the cost of Nim Deathmantle’s ability with said mana, which will create infinite wurm tokens . It’s a bit of a wacky combo and I definitely could’ve explained it more thoroughly

Noyan Dar, Roil Shaper, is a fantastic spellslinger that weaponizes lands, and is an interesting and different deck to play. Very fun to play, and very satisfying to win with your big lands.

I have one Noyan Dar deck and indeed is very underrated, people often think that you animate all your lands and fear the Wrath effects, but don't realize that you can put the counters on the same land repeatly. 15/15 Darksteel Citadel? Yes plz. Also, thinks that gives your creatures Vigilance is amazing... full out attack without tapping out to casting spells

My personal favorite deck is a legend that no one remembers but has gotten so strong over time. Kurkesh, Onokke Ancient. I have a subtle life gain combo deck which feels so good in mono red you might never go back.

Underrated Commander: Dromar, the Banisher This dragon might not be as popular as his other dragon brethren but hes got his own thing going on in esper colours. He can mass bounce your things (you'll be playing ETB good stuff/value) enemy things (bonus if you have cards that change colour of permanents).

She is my favorite commander deck I play. My LGS plays by a no infinite rule set and Glissa is my main deck in that format. She is smooth and her strategy's don't require her to be in play to work. Idk if you like doing deck techs of people's decks or not but if so. I would be glad to submit mine for Glissa. She is imo one of the most powerful commanders in the game because she has so many options and can play multiple styles in a single deck allowing her to attack from many angles.

Squee, Goblin Nabob: a free discard outlet for all those rummage effects in red! With all the boardwipe/ burn in red, playing and killing him to start the engine should never be too hard.

My next underrated commander is Neheb the Worthy. His unique take on Hellbent and Minotaur tribal has been catching my eye more and more. Anthem of Rakdos, His there drop mana cost with Ragemonger makes him 1 on his frist play. Sire of insanity, among other discard effects and graveyard recursion to put the discarded creatures back in play.

There's so many good ways to build a Glissa deck, she's up there with some of the most flexible to build with commanders in EDH.

Glissa was my first commander deck. She’s very powerful while on the board, but golgari colors have next to no artifact support, so if she is not on the board then the deck doesn’t seem to do much. Gotta admit that I didn’t go all in on a recursion strategy, that may have potential

Actually one of my favorites, retired her for awhile but I might rebuild the deck having made some changes to other things. Great voltron commander, frighteningly powerful stax commander. The only downside is needing your opponents to play creatures, lol.

idk if anyone mentioned, but doesnt first strike + deathtouch mean instant death with no consequences? unless it has indestructible of course.. which brings me to another idea for glissa, artifacts that grant indestructible ;) and you can get them back if you lose them :)

Not sure how underrated they are, but The partner commanders Ishai and Reyhan are very underrepresented on Edhrec and playing against Atraxa decks, I’ve felt like they are better for +1/+1 counter strategies

Glissa is a great commander Krark clan iron works can basically be put in any artifact deck with the use of scrap trawler and myr retriever your basically playing modern lol. Cards like altar of dementia really does a lot of work feeding your graveyard and jus getting a lot of value. Would def like to see underused commanders like tromokratis Stax/control

Soraya..... banding F T W but also... the selection of birds makes deck building her stale ish.... I am most enthralled with Selenia angels and life gain as a board wipe nightmare for the opponents... I kept building her as a demon and angel tribal, just to use haunted crossroads as like a crossroads demon supernatural reference.... but I kept sniping the demons out of the deck for other projects and ended up with a mostly angels tribal (sans some card draw demons, which I think fit the deck thematically anyways)

Do Draxos of meletis and explain why strionic resonator is not an include in the deck... I guess you do get the choice of 2 cards from which to play, BUT WILL you and you already have to sink mana in to do it in off rp colors... you really should be looking at top deck manipulation of opponents... reveal top card etc...

So my take on the 5 Swords of X & Y here is that, might s well look for an even better beater Commander. Sure they all confer powerful abilities to a combat Commander but they basically invalidate the entire wall of Glissa’s non-combat text (so I think we’re sort of in agreement here, good Mr DBS). Why? When U’re successfully connecting to the opponent’s face unblocked, non of the Sword’s triggers synergise with Gliss, with the rather narrow exception of Sword of Fire & Ice that could gun down only random X/2s. My go-to beater equipment for Glissa, is also a Sword. Way way cheaper option for the budget folks: Sword of Vengeance. A Trampling Deathtoucher can’t b blockd cleanly even with “infinite” toughness. A Vigilant Deathtoucher deters counter-attacks. Yes, tis Sword offers zero protection outside of combat. But possibly this combination makes “Hexproof”-type Instant tricks like Vines of Vastwood & Blossoming Defense actually interesting & valuable in EDH. My favored combat analogue to spot-removal/sweepers here, are spells with lure effects like Revenge of the Hunted. Dealing out another chunk of Commander damage brutishly while crushing opposing defenc & fishing up a few artifacts from the ‘yard.
