I know this video was a while ago so not sure if you will see this. If these radios are capable of doing a scan function you could assign the radios you had out for the sunday school rooms on channel 2 and you keep your main communications on channel 1. Then you assign your team lead or one member that day to hit scan on there radios to monitor both channels incase they need to call you
@ChurchSecurityAnswers
@ChurchSecurityAnswers Жыл бұрын
@@Jacob-mm8xq These do not scan, we just have our kids workers keep radios on our same channel and turned down in their areas so they can pick them up and talk and we hear them, but they don't necessarily hear us! Then we can respond to issues. But your idea on scanning would be great!! Thank you for sharing

Thanks Captain, We have been using the Retevis RT21 VHF for over a year now. The radios have been very efficient for our use. We have a 20 acre campus and the range is amazing. A couple of things we found to enhance the radios are. 1. don’t push the earpiece all the way in, several of the guys have gotten the mushroom stuck as it will come off easily. ( we did get a few of the outside the ear sets for our people with hearing aids) 2. Turn the volume all the way up, in between services its very noisy and hard to hear with people all around. 3. We programmed our own privacy code to cut down on the Interference from the neighborhood kids. We do issue a radio to our (MRT)Medical Response Team at special events. During Sunday services we have restaurant pagers for them ( also sold by retevis). We did get two of the gang chargers as they take up less space in the radio cabinet. Overall great radios for the money and retevis CS has been great. AB

Joe, that is a good start. You are able to get small bass units that’ll do 15 watts. I’m a ham radio operator. You can also use FRS ~ Family Radio Service. With either GMRS, FRS, or MURS you can set up different channels for different things. The Radioddity GM 30 lets you put PL tones on the out & in side of the frequency to reduce outside interference

Those Retevis radios look pretty good for the money. Hard to go wrong at that price point. And your comments about MURS are spot on. Its a radio service not that many people know about - which makes it ideal for churches to consider. MURS may not work for everyone, but usually its better than FRS - and often a lot better, because its a business grade radio, and not consumer grade ( like the FRS units. ) Because its based on VHF, MURS might not work as well going through a number of building walls, concrete, steel etc. UHF radios may have an advantage in that environment. We use MURS in our church security team, and found it be more than adequate around our church property. Just one comment about interoperability on MURS - not every vendor numbers their channels the same way. MURS uses a couple of channels in the 151 and 154 MHz frequency spectrum. Motorola, as I recall, puts their 154 MHz channels first, and then the 151 MHz ones. channels. Another vendor I checked out did the 151 MHz channels first, then the 154 MHz ones. All the channels are there in both radios, but their numbering may not be the same. Just something to watch out for if you mix radios from different vendors.

Let me help. There are 5 MURS channels (only). Three of them are narrow band, two of them are wide band. I like wide band on FM but that is just my opinion. FRS is not inferior to MURS now that the FCC allows up to 2 watts on 15 of the channels. The big plus for MURS is that it allows for a detachable antenna. So, running 15 feet of cable to a 2 meter antenna can vastly improve the line of sight environment. I believe the Retevis units shown on this video do not have that option. But you really only need 1 unit to act as a 'base station'.

All other things being equal (e.g., power, comparably efficient antennas) VHF will perform better going through obstacles than UHF. This is because VHF’s frequency range is lower than UHF’s, and the frequency has an inverse relationship to the wavelength (which means that the VHF wavelength is longer than UHF) and a longer wavelength is less susceptible to attenuation from obstacles and distance in general (again, all other things being equal). If you want something that will go through obstacles really well while using the same amount of power (and a comparably efficient antenna), pick up an HF radio

Several years ago, we picked up some inexpensive radios from Wal-Mart and they never gave us any trouble. Quite honestly, we only use them during "big events" like VBS or community-oriented things where lots of people are on the property. Our normal Sunday morning routine does not employ radios, although I occasionally wish we did. Great information. Thank you for sharing

Question. I'm ex military and former corrections officer. My question is can we do security at church outside functions; such as public and state parks? I know at municipal parks were to contact park security or police, but how far does our responsibility go as far as restraint if park officials are not nearby?

Hey Don....that is a great question. I do not know. I believe each state may vary on this. Some require a certificate, some have other requirements. Check locally on this issue, because we need security at outside events as well, but you better check, you might have to hire certified security officers or off-duty police depending on where you are at for those remote events. Thanks for posting. What state are you in Don? Someone from your state, might have a better answer.

The problem is what these earbuds allow the people get irrifections. So whoever does weird these little air buds from this manufacturer? Better go to the air doctor a little bit more often because you will get Aaron sections. Remember that. Even if everybody keeps their own airpiece even if everyone in the place keeps their own air peace. And keep throwing microphone and keeps their own thing the day plugging to the radio. You'll still have to see the air doctor many times. Could these airbuds give air infections? Remember that.

Here's a little wrench for you to consider... Retevis radios are not legal to be sold in the United States nor are they legal to use in the United States. They haven't been typed accepted by the FCC and probably never will.
@ChurchSecurityAnswers
@ChurchSecurityAnswers 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Billy......I like the "check" system comment. Retevis makes many many different models, which many fall into the licensing / other requirements. However, the RT27V that we are recommending fall into the 'Business Commercial Class" and runs on frequencies set aside for small operational/business as low power and not needing FCC licensing. Several manufactures have these "business class" low power radios. Thanks for commenting and "checking" us Billy! Are you on a security team at your church?
