Some love for Chronoswiss, awesome! I’ve also thought for years and years that Glashütte Original and Girard Perregaux have deserved more love than they’ve historically received and it seems like both brands are finally getting it. I wished Breguet would bring back a modernized variant of the 1990’s variant of the Marine with its absolutely magnificent bracelet. I don’t like where they’re going with the Marine and a handful of their other models. I WANT to love Breguet but right now, I just can’t. Breguet also needs to offer the guilloché dials in more colors. I know they favor silver guilloché dials but some customers like other dial colors too.

I would buy another JLC if they made a simple dress watch with a white dial, but they are all silvered I'm afraid, so I'm still waiting. Wearing a JLC means you care about horology rather than fashion and, in the UK at least, you do not expect most people to have even heard of it. Grand Seiko are similar in that respect, and I would certainly be happy to wear one of their spring drive pieces - their Titanium Snowflake is on my shopping list.

I wouldn't wear one into combat or during training. But i am fascinated by them. Anybody willing to help me out with suggestions on what to start getting? I'm poor.. ha. My max budget is $120. I'd really like a durable mechanical watch. Something that can handle being roughed up a bit and the high volume of shooting i do. Even if it's not mechanical, is there something other than a g-shock for $120 or less, or maybe multiple watches up to that point you'd suggest i start looking at to get into this? I am grateful for any advice.
@davids95496 жыл бұрын
carl, I think the simple answer is no. I did a physical job like you, and as far as watches were concerned we fell into three camps: the G-Shock club, the Omega club and the Rolex club. I was with the Rolex guys, and still have the watch which saw mw through my service undamaged (both me and the watch!). My advice to you is to save your money for the Rolex which best suits your requirements, and until then - go watchless!

Couple of things 1) Don't buy a B&M at retail unless you get it 40% off 2) GS is great, but what do you mean GS has the best finishing? Their dial finishing is great but their movement finishing is mostly by machine. GS bracelets are well finished but average construction. You can say GS has the best movement finishing in their price range. Also the Spring Drive is a innovative marvel. 3) JLC is great and very underappreciated but non-watch enthusiasts. I heard someone pick up a JLC Duometre 2nd hand for almost the same price as a Rolex 116500 Daytona - insane. 4) Breguet is a good company but their watches are priced to high. At their price range, they are competing with the likes of A Lange and Sohne & Patek. You can't tell me that Breguet's watches match the quality of Lange or the history of Patek.

If you are located in France and you purchase a Baume & Mercier watch, be aware that they outsource their maintenance to a company called SM25, based in Besançon (a company with a meager capital of 7K and poor Google reviews). Most 'opinions' are entirely subjective, but your 'subjective objectivity' (paradoxical in its conception, I know) is so refreshing, if only by way of an education for 'The Unevolved' ! Thank you Armand, and once again. Yoga
@MrDoggerDog6 жыл бұрын
Let's not confuse "underrated" with "overlooked." Those who buy these brands rate them quite highly, almost too highly sometimes, so they're not underrated per se. And since they're not mainline brands, and they are rated quite highly, perhaps the term "overlooked" is more apt. Example: I own a Domasko which a lot don't know about, but everywhere I go online, Domasko owners are rating these pieces as highly as they can. So one could say they're an overlooked brand, but fetching high reviews, so they're not underrated. Just my two cents.

I believe you are correct, however, you may be overlooking exactly why Armand chose the title as such- KZbin's suggestive viewing algorithm. It favors more sensational, click-baity titles before true, honest ones. I blame Google. Armand is just a player in their game...
