This list good and ı can add 2004 Kenyon Martin, 2002 Antoine Walker (he was good to be an all-star but starter with those shoot percentages ?! ), Dr.J 1987 (this is a little better version of Kobe), 1990 A.C Green, 2014 Kobe Bryant (even he wants from his fans for voting younger players in that season), 2011 Yao Ming, 2010 Allen Iverson, 2004 Jamal Magloire, 95 Tyrone Hill, 2007 Shaq, 1989 Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Picking Kobe's last year all-star selection but not mentioned about Kareem, Dr.J, Yao and Iverson ?! Im agree with you Kobe didnt deserved and he wasnt the first guy who selected due to their legacy. I'm kinda shocked how you're not pick Magloire, Yao, 2007 Shaq, Tryrone Hill , 89 Kareem and 2014 Kobe :D
@deranged13138 жыл бұрын
Kobe's 97-98, 2013-14 and 2014-15 all-star selections were more undeserving... He played only 6 games in 2013-14. On the other hand, Chris Paul didn't get selected this year due to injury.

So Kyle Korver in 2015 (12.1 ppg 2.6 apg 4.1 rpg) deserved it more than Kobe..? But I guess you had to put Kobe in the thumbnail just for views. Saying he had the most Undeserving all star appearance is just stupid.

Kobe Bryant has 2 undeserved All Star selections. 1) 1998. Kobe averaged 15.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and was a starter despite being a 6th man for the Lakers. That game was all about MJ passing the torch to Kobe which isn't a good enough reason to vote 2) 2014. Kobe averaged 13.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists and he got All Star votes before making his season debut. Kobe played 6 games that season but was still voted in as a starter.

it’s these examples, and many more alike, why i hate All-Star games. the majority of the selections leave everyone scratching their heads. it’s a popularity contest for the most part. Kobe getting votes in his last season is a perfect example. stats weren’t even mediocre and had no business in the All-Star game. but they can’t have Kobe going out like that. so a player that deserved it much more gets snubbed. same exact bs with Pro Bowl selections. much more deserving players get snubbed while the big names play. perfect example: in 2011, Matthew Stafford gets snubbed after throwing just shy of 5,100 yards and 41 TDs. games like the NBA and MLB All-Star put in who will generate the most amount of revenue for said game. same for Pro Bowl. people will pay big bucks to see the superstars play

In my opinion the NBA making the all-star voting only 50% fan based is a good move to lessen undeserving "legacy" all-stars or another way to prevent a legacy all-star taking a deserving players spot is to add a legacy spot on the team in addition to the normal ones.(Shout out Dame Dolla for being snubbed in back to back all star games)

Pointing at numbers and stats for all star games players is meaningless. We are talking "all stars", not "all nba", stats don't matter, and fans need to have a say and vote for their beloved players, even if they are in their last season and playing inefficiently. And just in case you didn't notice, nobody plays defense in the all star game anymore, it's become nothing more than an exhibition game. It's only about entertainment, not stats.
@str8duval7 жыл бұрын
with that said Kobe did not play at an All-Star level whether you want to base that on stats or anything else

@wwekid90V37 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why honoring someone for a legendary career by voting them into the ASG is so wrong. The fans wanted to see Kobe play one more ASG before he retires. And I guarantee the players most likely did not have an issue with it as most of them are probably fans of Kobe. Why is it ok for Magic to be in the ASG in 1992 without even playing a single game in that entire season? I would love to hear the answer to this question

You want to know why Brad Miller made it? Because in that decade, the centers in the NBA were just not very good. Look at Jamaal Magloire and Vlade Divac. Back then, the rule was you had to have at least two centers. It's not inexplicable how Brad Miller made the team, it was just a sign of the times. Thank goodness for the new crop of talented centers.

@Leoknight928 жыл бұрын
I agree and at the same time disagree with Kobe on #1. He really didn't deserve to be an All-Star that season, if you look at his numbers for that season. But this was like an oscar for his lifetime achievement. We already knew he would retire after that season and everybody wanted to see as much as possible of Kobe, that's why he was in the All-Star game. So maybe it would be logical to assume that he shouldn't be there it is also totally understandable that this one nomination was all about emotion and showing respect - maybe not the best #1 choice...
